1 Samuel 28
1 And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their hosts together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me in the host, thou and thy men.
En aquellos días aconteció que los filisteos reunieron sus escuadrones de guerra para combatir contra Israel. Y Aquís dijo a David: ¡Ten bien entendido que tú y tus hombres saldrán conmigo a la batalla!
2 And David said to Achish, Therefore thou shalt know what thy servant will do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.
David respondió a Aquís: Muy bien. Sabrás lo que tu esclavo puede hacer. Así que Aquís dijo a David: Muy bien, te designaré mi guarda espalda por toda la vida.
3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
Samuel había muerto. Todo Israel hizo lamentación por él y lo sepultaron en Ramá, su ciudad. Saúl había expulsado de la tierra a los encantadores y adivinos.
4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.
Los filisteos se reunieron y acamparon en Sunem. También Saúl reunió a todo Israel y acamparon en Gilboa.
5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.
Cuando Saúl vio el campamento de los filisteos tuvo temor y su corazón tembló muchísimo.
6 And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
Entonces Saúl consultó a Yavé, pero Yavé no le respondió, ni por sueños, ni por urim, ni por profetas.
7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at En-dor.
Entonces Saúl dijo a sus esclavos: Búsquenme una mujer que sea bruja para que yo vaya a ella y consulte por medio de ella. Y sus esclavos le respondieron: En Endor hay una mujer que es bruja.
8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, Divine unto me, I pray thee, by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomsoever I shall name unto thee.
Entonces Saúl se disfrazó, se vistió con otras ropas y salió con dos hombres. Llegaron a aquella mujer de noche y dijo: Te ruego que me hagas una práctica de brujería y me subas al que yo te nombre.
9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
Y la mujer le contestó: Mira, tú sabes lo que Saúl hizo, cómo echó de la tierra a los evocadores y adivinos. ¿Por qué pones trampa a mi vida para producirme la muerte?
10 And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
Entonces Saúl le juró por Yavé: ¡Vive Yavé que ningún castigo te vendrá por este asunto!
11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
La mujer preguntó: ¿A quién te hago subir? Y dijo: Hazme subir a Samuel.
12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
Al ver a Samuel, la mujer clamó a gran voz. La mujer habló a Saúl y dijo:
13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what seest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I see a god coming up out of the earth.
¿Por qué me engañaste? ¡Tú eres Saúl! Y el rey le dijo: No temas. ¿Qué miras? La mujer respondió a Saúl: Miro a un ʼElohim celestial que sube a la tierra.
14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a robe. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and did obeisance.
Y le preguntó: ¿Cuál es su forma? Ella respondió: Sube un anciano cubierto con un manto. Entonces Saúl entendió que era Samuel, inclinó el rostro a tierra y se postró.
15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
Entonces Samuel preguntó a Saúl: ¿Por qué me perturbaste al hacerme subir? Y Saúl respondió: Estoy muy angustiado, pues los filisteos pelean contra mí, y ʼElohim se apartó de mí. Ya no me responde, ni por profeta ni por sueños, por lo cual te llamé para que me reveles qué debo hacer.
16 And Samuel said, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine adversary?
Samuel dijo: Si Yavé se apartó de ti y es tu adversario, ¿por qué me preguntas a mí?
17 And the LORD hath wrought for himself, as he spake by me: and the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David.
Yavé hizo como habló por medio de mí: Yavé quitó el reino de tu mano y lo dio a tu compañero David,
18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD and didst not execute his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.
por cuanto no obedeciste la voz de Yavé, ni cumpliste el furor de su ira contra Amalec. Por eso Yavé te hace esto hoy.
19 Moreover the LORD will deliver Israel also with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and tomorrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD shall deliver the host of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines.
Además, Yavé te entregará junto con Israel en manos de los filisteos, y mañana tú y tus hijos estarán conmigo. Ciertamente Yavé también entregará al ejército de Israel en manos de los filisteos.
20 Then Saul fell straightway his full length upon the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
Inmediatamente Saúl cayó en tierra, tan grande como era, por las palabras de Samuel. Quedó sin fuerzas, porque todo aquel día y aquella noche no comió.
21 And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath hearkened unto thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.
Entonces la mujer fue a Saúl y al ver que estaba muy turbado, le dijo: Mira que tu esclava obedeció tu voz, arriesgué mi vida y escuché las palabras que me dijiste.
22 Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.
Te ruego que tú también atiendas la voz de tu esclava. Permíteme servirte un trozo de pan a fin de que comas, recuperes fuerzas y seguirás tu camino.
23 But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, constrained him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.
Pero él rehusó y dijo: No comeré. Entonces los esclavos de él le insistieron juntamente con la mujer, y él los escuchó. Así que se levantó del piso y se sentó en la cama.
24 And the woman had a fatted calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:
Y aquella mujer tenía en la casa un ternero engordado, el cual mató. Tomó harina, la amasó, coció panes sin levadura,
25 and she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
y los sirvió a Saúl y a sus esclavos. Después que comieron, se levantaron y salieron aquella misma noche.
