1 Kings 15
1 Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat began Abijam to reign over Judah.
Et la dix-huitième année du roi Jéroboam, fils de Nebat, Abiam devint roi de Juda.
2 Three years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
Il régna trois ans à Jérusalem. Or le nom de sa mère était Maacha, fille d'Abisalom.
3 And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
Et il vécut dans tous les péchés de son père, que celui-ci avait commis avant lui, et son cœur ne fut point sans partage uni à l'Éternel, son Dieu, comme l'avait été le cœur de David, son père.
4 Nevertheless for David’s sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:
Cependant eu égard à David, l'Éternel, son Dieu, lui accorda d'avoir une lampe dans Jérusalem, en élevant son fils après lui et en laissant Jérusalem debout;
5 because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
parce que David avait fait ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel et ne s'était point écarté durant toute sa vie de tout ce qu'il lui commandait, excepté dans l'affaire d'Urie, le Héthien.
6 Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
Et il y avait eu guerre entre Roboam et Jéroboam tout le temps de sa vie.
7 And the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
Et le reste des actes d'Abiam et tout ce qu'il fit, est d'ailleurs consigné dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda. Et il y eut guerre entre Abiam et Jéroboam.
8 And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.
Et Abiam reposa avec ses pères et reçut la sépulture dans la ville de David, et Asa, son fils, régna en sa place.
9 And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Asa to reign over Judah.
Et la vingtième année de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël, Asa devint roi de Juda,
10 And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
et il régna quarante-un ans à Jérusalem. Or le nom de sa mère était Maacha, fille d'Abisalom.
11 And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.
Et Asa fit ce qui est bien aux yeux de l'Éternel, comme David, son père.
12 And he put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
Et il expulsa les prostitués du pays et fit disparaître toutes les idoles qu'avaient faites ses pères.
13 And also Maacah his mother he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
Et même Maacha, sa mère, il la destitua de son rang de Reine parce qu'elle s'était fait un simulacre d'Astarté, et Asa abattit son simulacre et le brûla dans le ravin du Cédron.
14 But the high places were not taken away: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with the LORD all his days.
Cependant les tertres ne disparurent pas; seulement le cœur d'Asa resta-t-il tout entier uni à l'Éternel toute sa vie.
15 And he brought into the house of the LORD the things that his father had dedicated, and the things that himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
Et il transféra dans le Temple de l'Éternel les objets consacrés par son père et par lui-même, l'argent, l'or et la vaisselle.
16 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
Or il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baësa, roi d'Israël, durant toute leur vie.
17 And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
Et Baësa, roi d'Israël, s'avança sur Juda et bâtit Rama pour empêcher que personne sortît ou entrât dans l'intérêt d'Asa, roi de Juda.
18 Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
Alors Asa prit tout l'argent et l'or qui restait dans les Trésors du Temple de l'Éternel et les trésors du palais royal, et les mit entre les mains de ses serviteurs, et le roi Asa les envoya à Ben-Hadad, fils de Tabrimmon, fils de Hézion, roi de Syrie, résidant à Damas, avec ce message:
19 [There is] a league between me and thee, between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
Il existe une alliance entre moi et toi, entre mon père et ton père; voici, je t'envoie un présent d'argent et d'or: eh bien! romps ton alliance avec Baësa, roi d'Israël, afin qu'il se retire de chez moi.
20 And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
Et Ben-Hadad écouta le roi Asa, et il expédia ses généraux d'armée contre les villes d'Israël, et réduisit Ijon et Dan et Abel-Beth-Maacha et tout le Kinnereth dans tout le territoire de Nephthali.
21 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.
Et à cette nouvelle Baësa renonça à l'édification de Rama, et il resta à Thirtsa.
22 Then king Asa made a proclamation unto all Judah; none was exempted: and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built therewith Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
Et le roi Asa convoqua la totalité de Juda sans exempter personne, et ils emportèrent de Rama les pierres et le bois employé par Baësa à sa bâtisse et le roi Asa s'en servit pour édifier Géba en Benjamin et Mitspa.
23 Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
Et le reste de tous les actes d'Asa, et tous ses exploits, et toutes ses entreprises, et les villes qu'il bâtit, tout cela est consigné dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda. Seulement dans ses vieux jours il eut les pieds malades.
24 And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.
Et Asa reposa avec ses pères et reçut la sépulture avec ses pères dans la ville de David, son père, et Josaphat, son fils, régna en sa place.
25 And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years.
Or Nadab, fils de Jéroboam, devint roi d'Israël, la seconde année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et régna deux ans sur Israël.
26 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, et marcha dans la voie de son père et dans son péché où il avait entraîné Israël.
27 And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
Et Baësa, fils d'Ahia, de la maison d'Issaschar, conspira contre lui, et Baësa le fit tomber sous ses coups devant Gibbethon, qui est aux Philistins, pendant que Nadab et tout Israël assiégeaient Gibbethon.
28 Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.
Ainsi Baësa lui donna la mort la troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et prit sa place comme roi.
29 And it came to pass that, as soon as he was king, he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him; according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:
Et devenu roi il extermina toute la maison de Jéroboam, sans laisser survivre de Jéroboam rien qui eût vie jusqu'à ce qu'il eût tout détruit selon la parole de l'Éternel prononcée par l'organe de son serviteur Ahia, de Silo,
30 for the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and wherewith he made Israel to sin; because of his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger.
à cause des péchés de Jéroboam qu'il avait commis et où il avait entraîné Israël par sa provocation dont il avait provoqué l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël.
31 Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the hook of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Or le reste des actes de Nadab, et toutes ses entreprises, cela est d'ailleurs consigné dans le livre des annales des rois d'Israël.
32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
Et il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baësa, roi d'Israël, durant toute leur vie.
33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, [and reigned] twenty and four years.
La troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Baësa, fils d'Ahia, devint roi de tout Israël à Thirtsa et [régna] vingt-quatre ans.
34 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel et marcha dans la voie de Jéroboam et son péché où il avait entraîné Israël.
