1 Kings 12

1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.

Ug si Roboam miadto sa Sichem: kay ang tibook Israel ming-adto sa Sichem aron sa pagbuhat kaniya nga hari.

2 And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it, (for he was yet in Egypt, wither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt,

Ug nahitabo sa diha nga si Jeroboam, ang anak nga lalake ni Nabat, nakadungog niini (kay didto pa siya sa Egipto, diin siya mikalagiw gikan sa atubangan sa hari nga si Salomon ug si Jeroboam nagpuyo sa Egipto,

3 and they sent and called him; ) that Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,

Ug ilang gipasugoan ug gipatawag siya), nga si Jeroboam ug ang tibook nga katiguman sa Israel ming-adto, ug mingsulti kang Roboam sa pag-ingon:

4 Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.

Ang imong amahan naghimo sa among yugo nga mabug-at: busa karon himoon mo ang mapintas nga paghari sa imong amahan, ug ang iyang mabug-at nga yugo nga iyang gibutang kanamo, nga magaan-gaan, ug kami magaalagad kanimo.

5 And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.

Ug siya miingon kanila: Pahawa usa sulod sa totolo ka adlaw, unya bumalik kamo kanako pag-usab. Ug ang katawohan mingpahawa.

6 And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?

Ug si hari Roboam nakigsabut uban sa mga tigulang tawo nga nagtindog sa atubangan ni Salomon nga iyang amahan sa buhi pa siya, nga nagaingon: Unsay tambag nga inyong ihatag kanako aron sa pagtubag niining katawohan?

7 And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

Ug sila mingsulti kaniya, nga nagaingon: Kong ikaw mahimong usa ka alagad niining katawohan ning adlawa, ug moalagad kanila, ug motubag kanila, ug mosulti sa mga maayong pulong kanila, nan sila mahimong imong mga alagad sa walay katapusan.

8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men that were grown up with him, that stood before him.

Apan iyang gisalikway ang tambag sa mga tawong tigulang nga ilang gihatag kaniya, ug nagpakitambag sa mga batan-ong lalake nga nanagtubo uban kaniya, nga nanagtindog sa atubangan niya.

9 And he said unto them, What counsel give ye, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke that thy father did put upon us lighter?

Ug siya miingon kanila: Unsang tambaga ang inyong ihatag aron ikatubag nato niining katawohan nga mingsulti kanako, nga nagaingon: Himoa nga ang yugo nga gipapas-an sa imong amahan kanamo magaan-gaan?

10 And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou say unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou speak unto them, My little finger is thicker than my father’s loins.

Ug ang mga batan-ong lalake nga nanagtubo uban kaniya namulong kaniya sa pag-ingon: Kini mao ang ipamulong mo niining katawohan nga namulong kanimo, sa pag-ingon: Ang imong amahan naghimo nga bug-at sa among yugo, apan himoon mo nga kini magaan-gaan kanamo; mao kana ang ipamulong mo kanila: Ang akong kumingking bagabaga pa kay sa hawak sa akong amahan.

11 And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

Ug karon bisan ingon nga ang akong amahan nagpapas-an kaninyo sa usa ka mabug-at nga yugo, ako magadugang sa inyong yugo: ang akong amahan naghampak kaninyo sa mga pudlos, apan ako magahampak kaninyo sa mga tanga.

12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king bade, saying, Come to me again the third day.

Busa si Jeroboam ug ang tibook katawohan ming-adto kang Roboam sa ikatolo ka adlaw, sumala sa gisugo sa hari, nga nagaingon: Bumalik kamo kanako pag-usab sa ikatolo ka adlaw.

13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him;

Ug ang hari mitubag sa katawohan sa mapintas gayud ug gisalikway ang tambag sa mga tawong tigulang nga ilang gihatag kaniya,

14 and spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions;

Ug namulong kanila subay sa tambag sa mga batan-ong lalake nga nagaingon: Ang akong amahan naghimo sa inyong yugo nga mabug-at, apan ako magadugang sa inyong yugo: ang akong amahan naghampak kaninyo sa mga pudlos apan ako magahampak kaninyo sa mga tanga.

15 So the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was a thing brought about of the LORD, that he might establish his word, which the LORD spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

Busa ang hari wala mamati sa katawohan; kay kini mao ang usa ka butang nga gipahanabo ni Jehova aron iyang palig-onon ang iyang pulong, nga gipamulong ni Jehova pinaagi kang Ahias, ang Silohanon, kang Jeroboam, ang anak nga lalake ni Nabat.

16 And when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.

Ug sa natan-aw sa tibook Israel nga ang hari wala mamati kanila, ang katawohan mingtubag sa hari, nga nagaingon: Unsay bahin namo kang David? Wala usab kami ing panulondon sa anak nga lalake ni Isai: sa inyong mga balong-balong, oh Israel: karon tan-awa ang imong kaugalingong balay, David. Busa ang Israel namahawa ngadto sa ilang mga balong-balong.

17 But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

Apan alang sa mga anak sa Israel nga nagpuyo sa mga ciudad sa Juda, si Roboam naghari sa ibabaw kanila.

18 Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the levy; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. And king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

Unya si hari Roboam nagpaadto kang Adoram nga pangulo sa mga tawo nga anaa sa ilalum sa pintakasi; ug ang tibook Israel nagbato kaniya ngadto sa kamatayon pinaagi sa bato. Ug si hari Roboam midali sa pagsakay sa iyang carro aron sa pagkalagiw ngadto sa Jerusalem.

19 So Israel rebelled against the house of David, unto this day.

Busa ang Israel mialsa batok sa balay ni David hangtud niining adlawa.

20 And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

Ug nahitabo sa nakadungog ang tibook Israel nga si Jeroboam nahibalik, nga ilang gipasugoan ug gipatawag siya ngadto sa katilingban, ug gihimo siyang hari sa ibabaw sa tibook Israel, walay misunod sa balay ni David, gawas sa banay lamang ni Juda.

21 And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, and the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

Ug sa paghiadto ni Roboam ngadto sa Jerusalem, iyang gitigum ang tibook balay sa Juda, ug ang banay sa Benjamin, usa ka gatus ug kawaloan ka libo ka mga piniling tawo nga manggugubat, aron sa pagpakig-away batok sa balay sa Israel, sa pagdala pag-usab sa gingharian ngadto kang Roboam, ang anak nga lalake ni Salomon.

22 But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

Apan ang pulong sa Dios midangat kang Semaias, ang tawo sa Dios, nga nagaingon:

23 Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,

Sumulti ka kang Roboam ang anak nga lalake ni Salomon, hari sa Juda, ug ngadto sa tibook balay sa Juda, ug sa Benjamin, ug sa ubang katawohan, nga magaingon:

24 Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they hearkened unto the word of the LORD, and returned and went their way, according to the word of the LORD.

Kini mao ang gipamulong ni Jehova: Dili kamo manungas ni magpakig-away kamo batok sa inyong mga kaigsoonan, ang mga anak sa Israel; pumauli ang tagsatagsa ka tawo ngadto sa iyang balay; kay kining butanga nagagikan kanako. Busa sila namati sa pulong ni Jehova, ug namauli ngadto sa ilang dalan, sumala sa pulong ni Jehova.

25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and he went out from thence, and built Penuel.

Unya gitukod ni Jeroboam ang Sichem didto sa kabungtoran sa Ephraim, ug mipuyo didto ug gitukod ang Penuel.

26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:

Ug si Jeroboam miingon sa iyang kasingkasing: Karon mahabalik ang gingharian ngadto sa balay ni David:

27 if this people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah; and they shall kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.

Kong kining katawohan mangadto aron sa paghalad sa mga halad sa balay ni Jehova sa Jerusalem, unya ang kasingkasing niining katawohan mobalik ngadto sa ilang ginoo bisan ngadto kang Roboam, ang hari sa Juda; ug sila mopatay kanako, ug mopauli ngadto kang Roboam ang hari sa Juda.

28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem; behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Tungod niini ang hari nakigsabutsabut, ug naghimo sa duha ka nating vaca nga bulawan; ug siya miingon kanila: Halayo ra kaninyo ang pagtungas ngadto sa Jerusalem: tan-awa, ang inyong mga dios, Oh Israel nga nagdala kaninyo gikan sa yuta sa Egipto.

29 And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other put he in Dan.

Ug iyang gibutang ang usa didto sa Beth-el, ug ang lain iyang gibutang didto sa Dan.

30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went [to worship] before the one, even unto Dan.

Ug kining butanga nahimong usa ka sala, kay ang katawohan ming-adto aron sa pagsimba sa atubangan sa usa, bisan pa ngadto sa Dan.

31 And he made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.

Ug siya naghimo sa mga balay sa hatag-as nga dapit, ug naghimo sa mga sacerdote gikan sa tanang katawohan nga dili sa mga anak nga lalake ni Levi.

32 And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he went up unto the altar; so did he in Beth-el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the priests of the high places which he had made.

Ug si Jeroboam nagsugo sa usa ka fiesta sa ikawalo ka bulan, sa ika pulo ug lima ka adlaw sa bulan, sama sa fiesta nga anaa sa Juda, ug siya miadto sa halaran; ingon man maoy gihimo niya didto sa Beth-el, ang paghalad ngadto sa mga nating vaca nga iyang binuhat: ug iyang gibutang sa Beth-el ang mga sacerdote sa mga dapit nga hatag-as nga iyang binuhat.

33 And he went up unto the altar which he had made in Beth-el on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart: and he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and went up unto the altar, to burn incense.

Ug siya mitungas ngadto sa halaran nga iyang gihimo sa Beth-el sa ikapulo ug lima ka adlaw sa ikawalo ka bulan, nga iyang gimugna sa iyang kaugalingong kasingkasing: ug siya nagpasaulog sa usa ka fiesta alang sa mga anak sa Israel, ug miadto sa halaran aron sa pagsunog sa incienso.
