Mark 1
1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus Christ.
神の子イエス・キリストに関する福音の始まり。
2 It is said in the prophet Isaiah – ‘I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way.
預言者たちの中にこう書かれているとおりである。 「見よ，わたしはあなたの面前にわたしの使者を遣わす。その者はあなたの前に道を整えるだろう。
3 The voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness: “Prepare the road for the Lord, make a straight path for him.”’
荒野で叫ぶ者の声がする，『主の道を整えよ！その道筋をまっすぐにせよ！』」
4 John the Baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism on repentance, for the forgiveness of sins.
ヨハネが現われて，荒野でパプテスマを施し，罪の許しのための悔い改めのバプテスマを宣教していた。
5 The whole of Judea, as well as all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, went out to him; and they were baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
ユダヤの全地方とエルサレムのすべての人々が彼のところに出て来た。人々は自分の罪を告白して，ヨルダン川で彼からバプテスマを受けていた。
6 John wore clothes made of camels’ hair, with a leather strap around his waist, and lived on locusts and wild honey;
ヨハネはラクダの毛衣を身に着け，皮の帯を腰に巻いており，イナゴと野みつを食べていた。
7 and he proclaimed – “After me is coming someone more powerful than I am, and I am not fit even to stoop down and unfasten his sandals.
彼は宣教して言った，「わたしより強い方がわたしの後から来られる。わたしはかがんでその方のサンダルの革ひもをほどくにも値しない。
8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
わたしはあなた方に水でバプテスマを施したが，その方はあなた方に聖霊でバプテスマを施すだろう」。
9 Now about that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
そのころ，イエスはガリラヤのナザレからやって来て，ヨルダンでヨハネからバプテスマを受けた。
10 Just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens split open and the Spirit coming down to him like a dove,
水から上がってすぐ，天が裂け，霊がハトのように自分の上に下って来るのを目にした。
11 and from the heavens came a voice – “You are my dearly loved son; you bring me great joy.”
天から声がした，「あなたはわたしの愛する子，わたしの心にかなう者である」。
12 Immediately afterward the Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness;
すぐに霊が彼を荒野に追いやった。
13 and he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts, while the angels helped him.
彼は四十日間荒野にいて，サタンから誘惑を受けた。彼は野獣と共にいて，み使いたちが彼に仕えていた。
14 After John had been arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God –
さて，ヨハネが捕まった後，イエスはガリラヤへ行き，神の王国に関する福音を宣教して
15 “The time has come, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the good news.”
こう言った。「時は満ち，神の王国は近づいた！ 悔い改めて福音を信じなさい」 。
16 As Jesus was going along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the sea, for they were fishermen.
ガリラヤの海沿いを通りすがりに，シモンとシモンの兄弟アンデレが海で網を打っているのを目にした。彼らは漁師だったのである。
17 “Come and follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will teach you to fish for people.”
イエスは彼らに言った，「わたしの後に付いて来なさい。そうすればあなた方を，人を捕る漁師にしよう」 。
18 They left their nets at once, and followed him.
すぐに彼らは網を捨てて彼に従った。
19 Going on a little further, he saw James, Zebedee’s son, and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets.
さらに少し進んで行くと，ゼベダイの子ヤコブとその兄弟ヨハネを目にした。彼らも舟の中で網を繕っていた。
20 Jesus called them at once, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the crew, and went after him.
すぐに彼は彼らを呼んだ。すると彼らは，その父ゼベダイを雇い人たちと共に舟の中に残して，彼の後に付いて行った。
21 They walked to Capernaum. On the next Sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.
彼らはカペルナウムに入った。そしてすぐに，彼は安息日に会堂に入って教えた。
22 The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught them like one who had authority, and not like the teachers of the Law.
人々は彼の教えに驚いた。彼が権威ある者のように人々を教えていて，律法学者たちのようではなかったからである。
23 Now there was in their synagogue at the time a man under the power of a foul spirit, who called out,
すぐに，彼らの会堂に汚れた霊に付かれた男がいて，叫んで
24 “What do you want with us, Jesus the Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!”
言った，「ほう！ ナザレ人イエスよ，わたしたちはあなたと何のかかわりがあるのか。わたしたちを滅ぼしに来たのか。わたしはあなたがだれだか知っている。神の聖なる方だ！」
25 But Jesus rebuked the spirit, “Be silent! Come out from him.”
イエスは彼をしかりつけて言った，「黙れ。この人から出て行け！」
26 The foul spirit threw the man into a fit, and with a loud cry came out from him.
汚れた霊は，その人をけいれんさせ，大声で叫びながら，彼から出て行った。
27 They were all so amazed that they kept asking each other, “What is this? What is this, a new kind of teaching? He gives his commands with authority even to the foul spirits, and they obey him!”
人々はすっかり驚いたので，互いに論じ合って言った，「これは何事だ。新しい教えなのか。彼は汚れた霊にさえ権威をもって命じる。すると彼らはこの人に従うのだ！」
28 His fame spread at once in all directions, through the whole region of Galilee.
彼の評判は，ガリラヤの全地方とその周囲の至る所にすぐに広まった。
29 As soon as they had left the synagogue, they went to the house of Simon and Andrew, along with James and John.
すぐに，彼らは会堂から出ると，ヤコブやヨハネと共に，シモンとアンデレの家に入った。
30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying ill with a fever, and they at once told Jesus about her.
さて，シモンのしゅうとめが熱病で横たわっており，彼らはすぐに彼女のことを彼に告げた。
31 Jesus went up to her and, grasping her hand, raised her up; the fever left her, and she began to take care of them.
彼はそばに行き，手を取って彼女を起き上がらせた。熱は引き，彼女は彼らに仕えた。
32 In the evening, after sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who were ill or possessed by demons;
夕方，日が沈むと，人々は病気の者や悪霊に取りつかれた者を皆，彼のもとに連れて来た。
33 and the whole city was gathered around the door.
町全体が戸口に集まっていた。
34 Jesus cured many who were ill with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and would not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
彼はいろいろな病気にかかっている大勢の人々をいやし，多くの悪霊を追い出した。悪霊たちが語ることを許さなかった。彼らが自分を知っていたからである。
35 In the morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and went out to a lonely spot, where he began to pray.
朝早く，まだ暗いうちに，彼は起き上がって出て行き，寂しい場所へ行って，そこで祈っていた。
36 But Simon and his companions went out searching for him;
シモンおよび共にいた者たちが後を追って来た。
37 and, when they found him, they exclaimed, “Everyone is looking for you!”
そして彼を見つけて，「みんながあなたを探しています」と告げた。
38 But Jesus said to them, “Let us go somewhere else, into the country towns nearby so that I can make my proclamation in them also; for that was why I came.”
彼は彼らに言った，「どこかほかの所，近くの町々へ行こう。わたしがそこでも宣教するためだ。わたしはそのために出て来たからだ」 。
39 And he went about making his proclamation in their synagogues all through Galilee, and driving out the demons.
ガリラヤ全土にわたり，その会堂に入って，宣教し，悪霊たちを追い出した。
40 One day a leper came to Jesus and, falling on his knees, begged him for help. “If only you are willing,” he said, “you are able to make me clean.”
そこで一人のらい病の人が彼のもとに来て，懇願してひざまずき，「あなたは，もしそうお望みになれば，わたしを清くすることがおできになります」と言った。
41 Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying as he did so, “I am willing; become clean.”
イエスは哀れみに動かされて，手を伸ばして彼に触り，彼に言った，「わたしはそう望む。清くなりなさい」 。
42 Instantly the leprosy left the man, and he became clean;
イエスがこう言うと，すぐにらい病は彼から去り，彼は清くなった。
43 and then Jesus, after sternly warning him, immediately sent him away,
イエスは彼に厳しく注意して，すぐに彼を送り出した。
44 and said to him, “Be careful not to say anything to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.”
そして彼に言った，「だれにも何も言わないようにしなさい。ただ行って，自分の体を祭司に見せ，自分の清めのためにモーセの命じた物をささげなさい」 。
45 The man, however, went away, and began to speak about it publicly, and to spread the story so widely, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town, but stayed outside in lonely places; and people came to him from every direction.
しかし，彼は出て行くと，それを大いに宣明し，この出来事について言い広め始めた。そのためイエスは，もはやおおっぴらに町に入ることができず，外の寂しい場所にいた。それでも，人々は至る所から彼のもとにやって来た。
