Luke 18
1 Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and never despair.
ನಿರಾಶರಾಗದೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಯೇಸು ತಮ್ಮ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಾಮ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
2 “There was,” he said, “in a certain town a judge, who had no fear of God nor regard for people.
“ಒಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ದೇವರಿಗೂ ಭಯಪಡುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕೊಡುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
3 In the same town there was a widow who went to him again and again, and said ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’
ಅದೇ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿಧವೆಯಿದ್ದಳು. ಆಕೆ ಪದೇಪದೇ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ‘ನನ್ನ ವಿರೋಧಿಯ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ನನಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯ ದೊರಕಿಸಿಕೊಡು,’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.
4 For a time the judge refused, but afterward he said to himself ‘Although I am without fear of God or regard for people,
“ಅವನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪಕಾಲ ಆಕೆಗೆ ಗಮನಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನು ತನ್ನೊಳಗೆ, ‘ನಾನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಹಾಗೂ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,
5 yet, as this widow is so troublesome, I will grant her justice, to stop her from plaguing me with her endless visits.’”
ಆದರೂ ಈ ವಿಧವೆಯು ನನಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆಕೊಟ್ಟು ಪದೇಪದೇ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಾಡಿಸದಂತೆ ನಾನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸುವೆನು,’” ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
6 Then the Master added, “Listen to what this iniquitous judge says!
ಅನಂತರ ಕರ್ತದೇವರು, “ಈ ಅನ್ಯಾಯಗಾರನಾದ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ.
7 And God – won’t he see that his own people, who cry to him night and day, have justice done them – though he holds his hand?
ದೇವರಾದುಕೊಂಡವರು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಹಗಲುರಾತ್ರಿ ಮೊರೆಯಿಡುವಾಗ, ದೇವರು ಅವರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡದೆ ಇರುವರೋ? ದೇವರು ನ್ಯಾಯ ಕೊಡಲು ತಡಮಾಡುವರೋ?
8 He will, I tell you, give them justice soon enough! Yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
ದೇವರು ಬೇಗನೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸುವರೆಂದು, ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೂ, ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರನಾದ ನಾನು ಬಂದಾಗ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವೆನೋ?” ಎಂದರು.
9 Another time, speaking to people who were satisfied that they were religious, and who regarded everyone else with scorn, Jesus told this parable –
ತಾವು ನೀತಿವಂತರೆಂದು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಭರವಸೆಯನ್ನಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಬೇರೆಯವರನ್ನು ಅಸಡ್ಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ, ಯೇಸು ಈ ಸಾಮ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು:
10 “Two men went up into the Temple Courts to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other a tax-gatherer.
“ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರು. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಫರಿಸಾಯನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು ಸುಂಕದವನು.
11 The Pharisee stood forward and began praying to himself in this way – ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men – thieves, rogues, adulterers – or even like this tax-gatherer.
ಫರಿಸಾಯನು ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು: ‘ದೇವರೇ, ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವವರು, ಅನೀತಿವಂತರು, ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರಿಗಳು ಆಗಿರುವ ಉಳಿದ ಜನರಂತೆ ನಾನಲ್ಲ, ಈ ಸುಂಕದವನಂತೆಯೂ ನಾನಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.
12 I fast twice a week, and give a tenth of everything I get to God.’
ನಾನು ವಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಎರಡು ಸಾರಿ ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನನಗಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದಶಾಂಶ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ತನಗೆ ತಾನೇ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದನು.
13 Meanwhile the tax-gatherer stood at a distance, not venturing even to raise his eyes to heaven, but he kept striking his breast and saying ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
“ಆದರೆ ಸುಂಕದವನು ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು, ಆಕಾಶದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣೆತ್ತಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಧೈರ್ಯಗೊಳ್ಳದೇ ತನ್ನ ಎದೆಯನ್ನು ಬಡಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ, ‘ದೇವರೇ ಪಾಪಿಯಾದವನು ನಾನೇ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸು,’ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದನು.
14 This man, I tell you, went home pardoned, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, while everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”
“ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಅವನಲ್ಲ, ಇವನೇ ನೀತಿವಂತನೆಂಬ ನಿರ್ಣಯ ಪಡೆದವನಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಯಾರಾದರೂ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರೋ ಅವರು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲಾಗುವರು ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವೇ ತಗ್ಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲಾಗುವರು,” ಎಂದರು.
15 Some of the people were bringing even their babies to Jesus, for him to touch them; but, when the disciples saw it, they began to find fault with those who had brought them.
ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಯೇಸು ಮುಟ್ಟುವಂತೆ ಕೆಲವರು ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಅವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದರು ಆಗ ಅವರ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಇದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ಜನರನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಿದರು.
16 Jesus, however, called the little children to him. “Let the little children come to me,” he said, “and do not hinder them, for it is to the childlike that the kingdom of God belongs.
ಆದರೆ ಯೇಸುವೋ ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರಲು ಬಿಡಿರಿ. ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಮಾಡಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯವು ಇಂಥವರದೇ.
17 I tell you, unless a man receives the kingdom of God like a child, he will not enter it at all.”
ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗುವಿನಂತೆ ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅವರು ಅದರೊಳಗೆ ಸೇರುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದರು.
18 And one of the leaders asked Jesus this question – “Good teacher, what must I do if I am to gain eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
ಒಬ್ಬ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯು ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ, “ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಬೋಧಕರೇ, ನಾನು ನಿತ್ಯಜೀವವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಿಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. (aiōnios g166)
19 “Why do you call me good?” answered Jesus. “No one is good but God.
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವನೆಂದು ಏಕೆ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿ? ದೇವರೊಬ್ಬರೇ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾರೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವರಲ್ಲ.
20 You know the commandments – Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not say what is false about others, Honor your father and your mother.”
‘ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು, ನರಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು, ಕದಿಯಬಾರದು, ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಬಾರದು, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಬೇಕು,’ ಎಂಬ ಈ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳು ನಿನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿವೆಯಲ್ಲಾ,” ಎಂದರು.
21 “I have observed all these,” he replied, “from childhood.”
ಅದಕ್ಕವನು, “ನನ್ನ ಬಾಲ್ಯದಿಂದಲೇ ನಾನು ಇವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೈಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
22 Hearing this, Jesus said to him, “There is one thing still lacking in you; sell everything that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; then come and follow me.”
ಯೇಸು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಆದರೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಒಂದು ಕೊರತೆ ಇದೆ. ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಇರುವುದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಮಾರಿ ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡು; ಆಗ ಪರಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಂಪತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ನೀನು ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸು,” ಎಂದರು.
23 But the man became greatly distressed on hearing this, for he was extremely rich.
ಅವನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ, ಬಹಳ ದುಃಖವುಳ್ಳವನಾದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಬಹಳ ಸಿರಿವಂತನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
24 Seeing this, Jesus said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!
ಅವನು ಬಹಳ ವ್ಯಥೆಗೊಂಡದ್ದನ್ನು ಯೇಸು ಕಂಡು, “ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತರು ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರುವುದು ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಕಷ್ಟ!
25 It is easier, indeed, for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God!”
ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನು ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಒಂಟೆಯು ಸೂಜಿಯ ಕಣ್ಣಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನುಗ್ಗುವುದು ಸುಲಭ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
26 “Then who can be saved?” asked those who heard this.
ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದವರು, “ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಯಾರು ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಹೊಂದುವವರು?” ಎಂದರು.
27 But Jesus said, “What is impossible with people is possible with God.”
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು, “ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದವುಗಳು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿವೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
28 “But we,” said Peter, “we left what belonged to us and followed you.”
ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು, “ಇಗೋ, ನಾವು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದೇವಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದನು.
29 “I tell you,” he answered, “that there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಮನೆಯನ್ನಾದರೂ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನಾದರೂ ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನಾದರೂ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನಾದರೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನಾದರೂ ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುವವನು,
31 Gathering the Twelve around him, Jesus said to them, “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem; and there everything that is written in the prophets will be done to the Son of Man.
ಯೇಸು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಇಗೋ, ನಾವು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರನಾದ ನನ್ನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಿಂದ ಬರೆದಿರುವುದೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನೆರವೇರಬೇಕು.
32 For he will be given up to the Gentiles, mocked, insulted and spat on;
ನಾನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲದವರ ಕೈಗೆ ಸೆರೆಯಾಗುವೆನು. ಅವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡಿ, ನನಗೆ ಅವಮಾನ ಮಾಡಿ, ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಗುಳುವರು.
33 they will scourge him, and then put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.”
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊರಡೆಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು, ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುವರು. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನ ಜೀವಿತನಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಬರುವೆನು,” ಎಂದರು.
34 The apostles did not comprehend any of this. His meaning was unintelligible to them and they did not understand what he was saying.
ಆದರೆ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೂ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮರೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ, ಯೇಸು ಹೇಳಿದವುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
35 As Jesus was getting near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside, begging.
ಯೇಸು ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿನ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಕುರುಡನು ದಾರಿಯ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಭಿಕ್ಷೆಬೇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
36 Hearing a crowd going by, the man asked what was the matter;
ಜನಸಮೂಹವು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗುವುದನ್ನು ಇವನು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅದೇನೆಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದನು.
37 and, when people told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing,
“ನಜರೇತಿನ ಯೇಸು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ಜನರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
38 he shouted out, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me!”
ಆಗ ಅವನು, “ಯೇಸುವೇ, ದಾವೀದನ ಪುತ್ರನೇ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿ!” ಎಂದು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.
39 Those who were in front kept telling him to be quiet, but he continued to call out the louder, “Son of David, take pity on me!”
ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುವಂತೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಿದರು, ಆದರೂ ಅವನು, “ದಾವೀದನ ಪುತ್ರರೇ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿ,” ಎಂದು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.
40 Then Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. And, when he had come close up to him, Jesus asked him,
ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ನಿಂತು ಅವನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆತರುವಂತೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವನು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ,
41 “What do you want me to do for you?” “Master,” he said, “I want to recover my sight.”
“ನನ್ನಿಂದ ನಿನಗೇನಾಗಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು. ಅದಕ್ಕವನು, “ಕರ್ತದೇವರೇ, ನನಗೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಕೊಡಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
42 And Jesus said, “Recover your sight, your faith has delivered you.”
ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಪಡೆ; ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಪಡಿಸಿದೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
43 Instantly he recovered his sight, and began to follow Jesus, praising God. And all the people, on seeing it, gave glory to God.
ಕೂಡಲೇ ಅವನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದನು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರು ಅದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
