1 Peter 1
1 To the people of God who are living abroad, dispersed throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,
Petrus, Jesu Christi Apostel, dem utkoradom främlingom, som bo här och der i Ponto, Galatien, Cappadocien, Asien, och Bithynien,
2 and who were chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the consecration of the Spirit, to learn obedience, and to be purified by the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. May blessing and peace be yours in ever increasing measure.
Efter Guds Faders försyn, genom Andans helgelse, till lydnona och Jesu Christi blods stänkelse. Nåd och frid föröke sig i eder.
3 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has, in his great mercy, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Välsignad vare Gud, och vårs Herras Jesu Christi Fader, som oss för sin stora barmhertighet hafver födt på nytt till ett lefvandes hopp, genom Jesu Christi uppståndelse ifrå de döda;
4 given us the new life of undying hope, that promises an inheritance, imperishable, stainless, unfading, which has been reserved for you in heaven –
Till oförgängeligit, obesmittadt, och ovanskeligit arf; hvilket i himmelen förvaradt är till eder.
5 for you who, through faith, are being guarded by the power of God, awaiting a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last days.
Som med Guds magt bevarens genom trona till salighet, hvilken beredd är, att hon skall uppenbar varda i den yttersta tiden;
6 At the thought of this you are full of exultation, though (if it has been necessary) you have suffered for the moment somewhat from various trials;
I hvilkom I eder fröjda skolen, I som nu en liten tid liden bedröfvelse, i margahanda försökelse, hvar så behöfves:
7 that the genuineness of your faith – a thing far more precious than gold, which is perishable, yet has to be tested by fire – may win praise and glory and honor at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
På det edor tro skall rättsinnig och mycket kosteligare befunnen varda, än det förgängeliga guld som pröfvas med eld, till lof, pris och äro, när Christus Jesus blifver uppenbar;
8 Though you have never seen him, yet you love him; though you do not even now see him, yet you believe in him, and exalt with a triumphant happiness too great for words,
Hvilken I älsken, ändock I icke sen honom; den I ock nu tron uppå, och dock icke sen; så skolen I fröjda eder med osägeliga och härliga glädje;
9 as you receive the reward of your faith in the salvation of your souls!
Och få edor tros ändalykt, nämliga själarnas salighet;
10 It was this salvation that the prophets, who spoke long ago of the blessing intended for you, sought, and strove to comprehend;
Efter hvilken salighet Propheterne hafva sökt och ransakat, som propheterat hafva om den tillkommande nåd till eder;
11 as they strove to discern what that time could be, to which the Spirit of Christ within them was pointing, when foretelling the sufferings that Christ would have to endure, and the glories that would follow.
Och hafva ransakat, på hvad eller hurudana tid Christi Ande utviste, den i dem var, och tillförene hade betygat de lidande, som i Christo äro, och den härlighet, som derefter följa skulle,
12 And it was revealed to them that it was not for themselves, but for you, that they were acting as Ministers of the truths which have now been told to you, by those who, with the help of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, have brought you the good news – truths into which even angels long to look.
Hvilkom det ock uppenbaradt var: ty de hafva icke sig sjelfvom, utan oss, dermed tjent; hvilke stycker eder nu förkunnad äro, genom dem som eder Evangelium predikat hafva, genom den Helga Anda som sändes af himmelen, hvilket Änglomen ock lyster se.
13 Therefore concentrate your minds, with the strictest self-control, and fix your hopes on the blessing that is coming for you at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
Derföre, begjorder edor sinnes länder, och varer nyktre, och sätter fullkomligit hopp till den nåd som eder tillbuden varder, genom Jesu Christi uppenbarelse,
14 Be like obedient children; do not let your lives be shaped by the passions which once swayed you in the days of your ignorance,
Såsom lydaktig barn; och ställer eder icke såsom tillförene, då I uti fåvitsko lefden, efter begärelsen;
15 but in your whole life show yourselves to be holy, after the pattern of the Holy One from whom you received your call.
Utan, efter honom, som eder kallat hafver, och helig är, varer ock I helige uti all edor umgängelse.
16 For scripture says – ‘You will be holy, because I am holy.’
Ty det är skrifvet: I skolen vara helige; ty jag är helig.
17 And since you call on him as ‘Father,’ who judges everyone impartially by what he has done, let respectful awe be the spirit of your lives during the time of your stay on earth.
Och efter I åkallen honom för en Fader, som dömer efter hvars och ens gerning, och hafver intet anseende till personen, så ser till att I, uti detta edart elände, vandren i räddhåga.
18 For you know that it was not by perishable things, such as silver and gold, that you were ransomed from the aimless way of living which was handed down to you from your ancestors,
Och veter, att I icke med förgängeligit silfver eller guld igenlöste ären ifrån edart fåfänga lefverne, efter fädernas sätt;
19 but by precious blood, as it were of a lamb, unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
Utan med Christi dyra blod, såsom med ett menlöst och obesmittadt lambs;
20 Destined for this before the beginning of the world, he has been revealed in these last days for your sakes,
Hvilken väl föresedd var för verldenes begynnelse; men uppenbarad i de yttersta tiderna, för edra skull;
21 who, through him, are faithful to God who raised him from the dead and gave him honor, so that your faith and hope are now in God.
Som genom honom tron på Gud; den honom uppväckt hafver ifrå de döda, och gifvit honom härlighet; på det I skullen hafva tro och hopp till Gud.
22 Now that, by your obedience to the truth, you have purified your lives, so that there is growing up among you a genuine affection, love one another earnestly with all your hearts;
Och görer edra själar kyska, i sanningenes lydno genom Andan, till oskrymtad broderlig kärlek; älsker eder storliga inbördes af rent hjerta;
23 since your new life has come, not from perishable, but imperishable, seed, through the message of the Everliving God. (aiōn g165)
Såsom de, som födde äro på nytt; icke af någor förgängelig säd, utan af oförgängelig, som är, af lefvandes Guds ord, det evinnerliga blifver. (aiōn g165)
24 For – ‘All earthly life is but as grass, and all its splendor as the flower of grass. The grass fades, its flower falls,
Ty allt kött är såsom gräs, och all menniskos härlighet såsom blomster på gräset; gräset är vissnadt, och blomstret är affallet;
