Romans 13

1 Let everyone obey the supreme authorities. For no authority exists except by the will of God, and the existing authorities have been appointed by God.

அரசாங்கத்தின் அதிகாரத்திற்கு ஒவ்வொருவரும் அடங்கி நடவுங்கள். ஏனெனில் இறைவன் அனுமதிக்காமல் எந்த அதிகாரமும் இல்லை. இப்பொழுது ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கிற அதிகாரங்கள் இறைவனாலேயே நிலைநிறுத்தப்பட்டு இருக்கின்றன.

2 Therefore the one who sets themself against the authorities is resisting God’s appointment, and those who resist will bring a judgment on themselves.

ஆகையால் அதிகாரத்தை எதிர்த்துக் கலகம் விளைவிக்கிறவன், இறைவன் நியமித்ததையே எதிர்த்துக் கலகம் விளைவிக்கிறான். அவ்விதம் எதிர்த்து நிற்கிறவர்கள் தங்கள் மேலேயே தண்டனையை விளைவித்துக்கொள்கிறார்கள்.

3 A good action has nothing to fear from rulers; a bad action has. Do you want to have no reason to fear the authorities? Then do what is good, and you will win their praise.

ஏனெனில், சரியானதைச் செய்கிறவர்கள் ஆளுகை செய்கிறவர்களைப் பார்த்து பயப்பட வேண்டியதில்லை. தீமை செய்கிறவர்களே பயப்படவேண்டும். அதிகாரத்தில் இருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நீங்கள் பயப்படாமல் இருக்க விரும்புகிறீர்களா? அப்படியானால் சரியானதைச் செய்யுங்கள். அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் உங்களைப் பாராட்டுவார்கள்.

4 For they are God’s servants appointed for your good. But, if you do what is wrong, you may well be afraid; for the sword they carry is not without meaning! They are God’s servants to inflict his punishments on those who do wrong.

ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் உங்களுக்கு நன்மைச் செய்யும்படி இறைவனுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் நீங்கள் தவறு செய்தால், அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படவேண்டும். அவர்கள் அதிகாரத்தை வீணாகப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கவில்லை. அவர்கள் இறைவனுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள், தீமை செய்கிறவர்களுக்குத் தண்டனை கொடுத்து, இறைவனுடைய கடுங்கோபத்தைக் காண்பிக்கும் பிரதிநிதிகள்.

5 You are bound, therefore, to obey, not only through fear of God’s punishments, but also as a matter of conscience.

ஆகையால் அதிகாரிகளுக்கு அடங்கி நடப்பதே அவசியம். தண்டனை கிடைக்குமே என்பதற்காக மட்டும் அல்ல, நம்முடைய மனசாட்சியின் நிமித்தமும் அடங்கி நடக்கவேண்டும்.

6 This, too, is the reason for your paying taxes; for the officials are God’s officers, devoting themselves to this special work.

அதற்காகத்தான் நீங்கள் வரிகளையும் செலுத்துகிறீர்கள். ஏனெனில் அதிகாரத்தில் உள்ளவர்கள் இறைவனுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள். அவர்கள் ஆளுகை செய்யும் பணியில் தங்களது முழு நேரத்தையும் செலவிடுகிறார்கள்.

7 In all cases pay what is due from you – tribute where tribute is due, taxes where taxes are due, respect where respect is due, and honour where honour is due.

நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவனுக்கும் கொடுக்க வேண்டியதைக் கொடுங்கள். நீங்கள் வரிசெலுத்த வேண்டியிருந்தால் வரியைச் செலுத்துங்கள்; சுங்கவரி செலுத்த வேண்டுமானால் அதைச் செலுத்துங்கள்; மரியாதை செலுத்த வேண்டுமானால் மரியாதை செலுத்துங்கள். கனம்பண்ண வேண்டுமானால் கனம்பண்ணுங்கள்.

8 Owe nothing to anyone except love; for they who love their neighbour have satisfied the Law.

யாருக்கும் கடன்காரராய் இருக்கவேண்டாம். ஒருவரில் ஒருவர் அன்பு செலுத்துவதில் மட்டுமே எப்பொழுதும் கடன்பட்டவர்களாய் இருங்கள். ஏனெனில் தன்னில் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் அன்பு செலுத்தினால், நீங்கள் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தையே நிறைவேற்றுகிறீர்கள்.

9 The commandments, “You must not commit adultery, you must not kill, you must not steal, you must not covet,” and whatever other commandment there is, are all summed up in the words – “You must love your neighbour as you love yourself.”

“விபசாரம் செய்யாதே,” “கொலை செய்யாதே,” “களவு செய்யாதே,” “அயலானுடையதை அபகரிக்க ஆசைகொள்ளாதே,” என்கிற கட்டளைகளும், வேறு கட்டளைகளும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருந்தாலும், இவையெல்லாம், “நீ உன்னில் அன்பாயிருப்பதுபோல் உன் அயலவனிலும் அன்பாயிரு” என்கிற ஒரே கட்டளையில் அடங்குகின்றன.

10 Love never wrongs a neighbour. Therefore love fully satisfies the Law.

அயலவனில் அன்பு செலுத்துகிறவன் பிறருக்குத் தீங்கு செய்யமாட்டான். ஆகவே, அன்பே மோசேயின் சட்டத்தை முழுநிறைவாக்குகிறது.

11 This I say, because you know the crisis that we have reached, for the time has already come for you to rouse yourselves from sleep; our salvation is nearer now than when we accepted the faith.

தற்போதைய காலத்தை விளங்கிக்கொண்டவர்களாய் இவைகளைச் செய்யுங்கள். உங்கள் தூக்கத்தைவிட்டு நீங்கள் எழுந்திருக்கவேண்டிய வேளை வந்துவிட்டது. நாம் முதலில் விசுவாசிக்கத் தொடங்கிய காலத்தைவிட, நமது இரட்சிப்பு இப்பொழுது இன்னும் அருகே வந்துவிட்டது.

12 The night is almost gone; the day is near. Therefore let us be done with the deeds of darkness, and arm ourselves with the weapons of light.

இரவு முடியப்போகிறது; பகல் வந்துவிட்டது. எனவே இருளின் செயல்களை நம்மைவிட்டு அகற்றி, ஒளியின் ஆயுதத்தை அணிந்துகொள்வோம்.

13 Being in the light of day, let us live becomingly, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lust and licentiousness, not in quarrelling and jealousy.

பகலில் நடப்பவர்களைப்போல் நாம் ஒழுக்கமாய் நடப்போம். களியாட்டங்களையும், வெறியாட்டங்களையும், பாலிய முறைகேடுகளையும், ஒழுக்கக்கேடான செயல்களையும், பிரிவினைகளையும், பொறாமைகளையும் நம்மைவிட்டு அகற்றுவோம்.

14 No! Arm yourselves with the spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ, and spend no thought on your earthly nature, to satisfy its cravings.

மாறாக கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவையே அணிந்துகொண்டு, உங்கள் மாம்ச இயல்பிலிருந்து வரும் ஆசைகளை திருப்திப்படுத்துவதெப்படி என்ற சிந்தனையை விட்டுவிடுங்கள்.
