Romans 10

1 My friends, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for my people is for their salvation.

பிரியமானவர்களே, இஸ்ரயேலர் இரட்சிக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்பதே என்னுடைய இருதயத்தின் ஆசையும், இறைவனிடம் எனது மன்றாட்டுமாய் இருக்கிறது.

2 I can testify that they are zealous for the honour of God; but they are not guided by true insight,

அவர்கள் இறைவனைக் குறித்த வைராக்கியம் உடையவர்கள் என்று நான் அவர்களைக்குறித்து இதைச் சாட்சியாகச் சொல்கிறேன். ஆனால் அவர்களுடைய வைராக்கியம் அறிவை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டது அல்ல.

3 for, in their ignorance of the divine righteousness, and in their eagerness to set up a righteousness of their own, they refused to accept with submission the divine righteousness.

அவர்கள் இறைவனிடமிருந்து வரும் நீதியைக் குறித்து அறியாதபடியால், தங்கள் நீதியைத் தாங்களே ஏற்படுத்திக்கொள்ள முயன்றார்கள். இதனால் அவர்கள் இறைவனுடைய நீதிக்குப் பணிந்து நடக்கவில்லை.

4 For Christ has brought Law to an end, so that righteousness may be obtained by everyone who believes in him.

கிறிஸ்துவே மோசேயின் சட்டத்தின் முடிவாக இருக்கிறார். இதனால் அவரை விசுவாசிக்கிற ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் நீதி கிடைக்கிறது.

5 For Moses writes that, as for the righteousness which results from Law, those who practice it will find life through it.

சட்டத்தினால் வரக்கூடிய நீதியைக் குறித்து மோசே எழுதியிருக்கிறதாவது: “சட்டத்தில் சொல்லப்பட்டவைகளைச் செய்கிறவனே, அவற்றால் வாழ்வு பெறுவான்.”

6 But the righteousness which results from faith finds expression in these words: “Do not say to yourself ‘Who will go up into heaven?’” (which means to bring Christ down)

ஆனால் விசுவாசத்தினால் வருகின்ற நீதியைக் குறித்து வேதவசனத்தில் சொல்லப்படுவது: “பரலோகத்துக்கு ஏறிச்செல்கிறவன் யார்?” அதாவது பரலோகத்திற்குப் போய் கிறிஸ்துவைக் கீழே வரும்படி அழைப்பவன் யார்? என்று உன் இருதயத்தில் சொல்லாதே.

7 “or ‘Who will go down into the depths below?’” (which means to bring Christ up from the dead). (Abyssos g12)

“அல்லது ‘பாதாளத்துக்குள்ளே இறங்குபவன் யார்?’” அதாவது இறந்தவர்களிடமிருந்து கிறிஸ்துவை மேலே கொண்டுவருபவன் யார்? என்றும் சொல்லாதே. (Abyssos g12)

8 No, but what does it say? “The message is near you, on your lips and in your heart” (which means “The message of faith” which we proclaim).

ஆனால், வேதவசனம் என்ன சொல்கிறது? “இறைவனின் வார்த்தை உனக்கு அருகே இருக்கிறது, அது உன் வாயிலும், உன் இருதயத்திலும் இருக்கிறது” என்றே அறிவிக்கப்படுகிறது. அந்த விசுவாசத்தின் வார்த்தையைத்தான் நாங்கள் பிரசித்தப்படுத்துகின்றோம்:

9 For, if with your lips you acknowledge the truth of the message that JESUS IS LORD, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

அதாவது, “இயேசுவே கர்த்தர்” என்று நீங்கள் உங்கள் வாயினால் அறிக்கையிட்டு, இறைவன் அவரை மரணத்திலிருந்து உயிருடன் எழுப்பினார் என்று உங்கள் இருதயத்தில் விசுவாசித்தால், நீங்கள் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவீர்கள்.

10 For with their hearts people believe and so attain to righteousness, while with their lips they make their profession of faith and so find salvation.

ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் இருதயத்தில் விசுவாசிப்பதினாலேயே நீதிமான் ஆக்கப்படுகிறீர்கள். உங்கள் வாயினால் உங்களுடைய விசுவாசத்தை அறிக்கையிடுவதினாலேயே இரட்சிக்கப்படுகிறீர்கள்.

11 As the passage of scripture says – “No one who believes in him will have any cause for shame.”

இதை வேதவசனம் சொல்கிறது, “அவரில் விசுவாசம் கொண்டிருக்கிற எவரும் ஒருபோதும் வெட்கப்பட்டு போகமாட்டார்கள்.”

12 For no distinction is made between the Jew and the Greek, for all have the same Lord, and he is bountiful to all who invoke him.

ஏனெனில் விசுவாசிக்கிறவர்களிடையே யூதர் என்றோ, யூதரல்லாதவர் என்றோ வேறுபாடு இல்லை; ஒரே கர்த்தரே அவர்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் கர்த்தராய் இருக்கிறார், அவரே தம்மை நோக்கி கூப்பிடுகிற எல்லோரையும் நிறைவாய் ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறார்.

13 For everyone who invokes the name of the Lord will be saved.

ஏனெனில், “கர்த்தரின் பெயரைச் சொல்லி கூப்பிடுகிற யாவரும் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவார்கள்” என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

14 But how, it may be asked, are they to invoke one in whom they have not learned to believe? And how are they to believe in one whose words they have not heard? And how are they to hear his words unless someone proclaims him?

அப்படியானால் தாங்கள் விசுவாசிக்காத ஒருவரை நோக்கி அவர்கள் எப்படிக் கூப்பிடுவார்கள்? தாங்கள் கேள்விப்படாத ஒருவர்மேல் அவர்கள் எப்படி விசுவாசம் வைப்பார்கள்? யாராவது ஒருவர் அவரைப்பற்றி அவர்களுக்குப் பிரசங்கிக்காவிட்டால் அவர்கள் எப்படிக் கேள்விப்படுவார்கள்?

15 And how is anyone to proclaim him unless they are sent as his messengers? As scripture says – “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

இறைவனால் அனுப்பப்படாவிட்டால் அவர்கள் எப்படிப் பிரசங்கிப்பார்கள்? அதனாலேயே, “நற்செய்தியைக் கொண்டுவருவோரின் பாதங்கள் எவ்வளவு அழகாக இருக்கின்றன!” என்று வேதவசனத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

16 Still, it may be said, everyone did not give heed to the good news. No, for Isaiah asks – “Lord, who has believed our teaching?”

ஆனால் எல்லா இஸ்ரயேலரும் நற்செய்தியை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை. ஆகவேதான் ஏசாயா, “கர்த்தாவே, எங்களுடைய செய்தியை விசுவாசித்தவன் யார்?” என்று கேட்கிறான்.

17 And so we gather, faith is a result of teaching, and the teaching comes in the message of Christ.

எனவே வார்த்தையைக் கேட்கிறதினாலேயே தனிப்பட்ட விசுவாசம் வருகிறது; அது கிறிஸ்துவைப்பற்றிய வார்த்தையின் மூலமாகவே வருகிறது.

18 But I ask “Is it possible that people have never heard?” No, indeed, for – “Their voices spread through all the earth, and their message to the ends of the world.”

எனவே அவர்கள் கேள்விப்படவில்லையா என்று நான் கேட்கிறேன்? நிச்சயமாகவே அவர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டார்கள். ஏனெனில் வேதவசனத்தில் சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறபடி: “அவர்களின் குரல் பூமியெங்கும் சென்றது, அவர்களுடைய வார்த்தைகள் உலகத்தின் கடைசிவரைக்கும் சென்றன.”

19 But again I ask “Did not the people of Israel understand?” First there is Moses, who says – “I, the Lord, will stir you to rivalry with a nation which is no nation; against an undiscerning nation I will arouse your anger.”

மீண்டும் நான் கேட்கிறேன்: இஸ்ரயேலர்கள் அதை விளங்கிக்கொள்ளவில்லையா? முதலாவதாக மோசேயே சொல்கிறார், “ஒரு ஜனமாகக் கருதப்படாதவர்களைக் கொண்டு, நான் உங்களுக்கு எரிச்சல் மூட்டுவேன்; விளங்கிக்கொள்ளும் ஆற்றல் இல்லாத ஒரு ஜனங்களைக் கொண்டு, நான் உங்களுக்குக் கோபமூட்டுவேன் என்கிறார்.”

20 And Isaiah says boldly – “I was found by those who were not seeking me; I made myself known to those who were not inquiring of me.”

ஏசாயா இன்னும் துணிச்சலுடன் சொல்கிறார், “என்னைத் தேடாதவர்கள் என்னைக் கண்டுகொண்டார்கள். என்னைப்பற்றி விசாரிக்காதவர்களுக்கு என்னை நான் வெளிப்படுத்தினேன் என்கிறார்.”

21 But of the people of Israel he says – “All day long I have stretched out my hands to a people who disobey and contradict.”

ஆனால், அவன் இஸ்ரயேலரைக் குறித்தோ, “கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்களும், பிடிவாதமுள்ளவர்களுமான மக்களுக்கு நாள்முழுவதும் என் கைகளை நீட்டினேன்” என்கிறார்.
