Psalms 99

1 The Lord is king; let the nations tremble: he is throned upon cherubs; let earth quake.

Der Herr ist König. Beben mögen da die Völker! Der Erdball zittere, wenn er sich auf die Cherubine niederläßt.

2 The Lord is great in Zion, he is high over all the nations.

Groß ist der Herr in Sion, erhaben über alle Völker!

3 Let them praise your great and terrible name. Holy is he.

Sie sollen Deinen Namen preisen, ihn, den großen, schrecklichen! - Er ist so heilig.

4 You are a king who loves justice, equity you have established: justice and right you have wrought for Jacob.

Und ist so mächtig. - Der Du das Recht liebst, König, stell die rechte Ordnung her und schaffe Billigkeit und Recht in Jakob!

5 Exalt the Lord our God, bow down at his footstool. Holy is he.

Den Herrn verherrlicht, unsern Gott! Vor seiner Füße Schemel betet an! Er ist so heilig.

6 Among his priests were Moses and Aaron, Samuel among those who called on his name. They called to the Lord, and he gave them answer.

Ein Moses und ein Aaron unter seinen Priestern; ein Samuel ruft seinen Namen an. Sie riefen zu dem Herrn, und er erhörte sie.

7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud, they kept his commands and the statute he gave them.

Er spricht zu ihnen wieder in der Wolkensäule, wenn sie befolgen seine Mahnungen und das von ihm gegebene Gesetz.

8 Lord our God, you gave them answer. A God of forgiveness were you to them, who suffered their deeds to go unpunished.

Herr, unser Gott! Erhöre sie! Sei Du für sie ein Gott, fürsorgend, rächend ihre Unbilden!

9 Exalt the Lord our God; bow down at his holy mountain. For holy is the Lord our God.

Den Herrn verherrlicht, unsere Gott! Werft euch vor seinem heiligen Berge nieder! Denn unser Gott, der Herr, ist heilig.
