Psalms 83

1 A song, a psalm of Asaph. Do not keep silent, O God: hold not your peace, be not still, God.

שיר מזמור לאסף ב אלהים אל-דמי-לך אל-תחרש ואל-תשקט אל

2 For see! Your enemies roar, those who hate you lift up their heads,

כי-הנה אויביך יהמיון ומשנאיך נשאו ראש

3 laying crafty plans for your people, and plotting against those you treasure.

על-עמך יערימו סוד ויתיעצו על-צפוניך

4 ‘Come, let us wipe them out as a nation, so Israel’s name will be mentioned no more.’

אמרו--לכו ונכחידם מגוי ולא-יזכר שם-ישראל עוד

5 For, conspiring with one accord, they have made a league against you

כי נועצו לב יחדו עליך ברית יכרתו

6 Tents of Edom, and Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagrites.

אהלי אדום וישמעאלים מואב והגרים

7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre;

גבל ועמון ועמלק פלשת עם-ישבי צור

8 Syria, too, is confederate, they have strengthened the children of Lot. (Selah)

גם-אשור נלוה עמם היו זרוע לבני-לוט סלה

9 Deal with them as you dealt with Midian, with Sisera, with Jabin, at the torrent of Kishon,

עשה-להם כמדין כסיסרא כיבין בנחל קישון

10 who at Endor were destroyed, and became dung for the field.

נשמדו בעין-דאר היו דמן לאדמה

11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,

שיתמו נדיבימו כערב וכזאב וכזבח וכצלמנע כל-נסיכימו

12 who said, ‘Let us take for ourselves the meadows of God.’

אשר אמרו נירשה לנו-- את נאות אלהים

13 Whirl them, my God, like dust, like stubble before the wind.

אלהי שיתמו כגלגל כקש לפני-רוח

14 As the fire that kindles the forest, as flame that sets mountains ablaze,

כאש תבער-יער וכלהבה תלהט הרים

15 so with your tempest pursue them, terrify them with your hurricane.

כן תרדפם בסערך ובסופתך תבהלם

16 Make them blush with shame; until they seek your name, O Lord.

מלא פניהם קלון ויבקשו שמך יהוה

17 Everlasting shame and confusion, disgrace and destruction be theirs.

יבשו ויבהלו עדי-עד ויחפרו ויאבדו

18 Teach those who you alone are most high over all the earth.

וידעו-- כי-אתה שמך יהוה לבדך עליון על-כל-הארץ
