Psalms 83

1 A song, a psalm of Asaph. Do not keep silent, O God: hold not your peace, be not still, God.

Ein Gesang, ein Lied, von Asaph. Gott, sei nicht still! Schweig nicht! Bleib nicht so ruhig, Gott!

2 For see! Your enemies roar, those who hate you lift up their heads,

Denn siehe, Deine Feinde sind geschäftig; das Haupt erheben Deine Hasser.

3 laying crafty plans for your people, and plotting against those you treasure.

Sie halten, Deinem Volk zuwider, listig Rat, beraten gegen Deine Schutzbefohlenen.

4 ‘Come, let us wipe them out as a nation, so Israel’s name will be mentioned no more.’

Sie sprechen: "Auf, wir wollen sie als Volk vernichten. Nie werde mehr des Namen Israels gedacht!"

5 For, conspiring with one accord, they have made a league against you

Einmütig halten Rat und schließen gegen Dich ein Bündnis

6 Tents of Edom, and Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagrites.

Edoms und Ismaels Gezelte, Moabs und die der Agarener,

7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre;

Gebal, Ammon und Amalek, Philisterland und Tyrier.

8 Syria, too, is confederate, they have strengthened the children of Lot. (Selah)

Auch Assur schließt sich ihnen an; sie leihen ihren Arm den Söhnen Lots. (Sela)

9 Deal with them as you dealt with Midian, with Sisera, with Jabin, at the torrent of Kishon,

Behandle sie wie Midian, wie Sisara, wie Jabin an dem Kisonsbach!

10 who at Endor were destroyed, and became dung for the field.

Zu Endor wurden sie vertilgt; sie wurden Dünger für das Ackerfeld.

11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,

Tu ihren Edlen wie Oreb und Zeeb, wie Zeba und Salmunna, allen ihren Fürsten!

12 who said, ‘Let us take for ourselves the meadows of God.’

Sie sprechen: "Lasset Gottes Auen uns erobern!"

13 Whirl them, my God, like dust, like stubble before the wind.

Mein Gott! Mach sie dem Wirbellaube gleich, den Stoppeln vor dem Winde!

14 As the fire that kindles the forest, as flame that sets mountains ablaze,

Wie Feuer, das den Wald verzehrt, wie Flammen, Berge sengend,

15 so with your tempest pursue them, terrify them with your hurricane.

jag ihnen nach mit Deinem Wetter! Und schreckt sie mit Deinem Sturme!

16 Make them blush with shame; until they seek your name, O Lord.

Füll an ihr Angesicht mit Schmach, auf daß sie Deinen Namen fürchten, Herr!

17 Everlasting shame and confusion, disgrace and destruction be theirs.

Sie sollen schämen sich, für immerdar verwirrt, mit Schanden untergehen!

18 Teach those who you alone are most high over all the earth.

Dann merken sie, daß Du mit Deinem Namen heißest
