Psalms 25

1 A psalm of David. To you, O Lord, I lift up my heart: all the day I wait for you.

A te, Signore, elevo l'anima mia, Di Davide.

2 In you I trust, put me not to shame; let not my foes exult over me.

Dio mio, in te confido: non sia confuso! Non trionfino su di me i miei nemici!

3 None will be shamed who wait for you, but shame will fall upon wanton traitors.

Chiunque spera in te non resti deluso, sia confuso chi tradisce per un nulla.

4 Make me, O Lord, to know your ways: teach me your paths.

Fammi conoscere, Signore, le tue vie, insegnami i tuoi sentieri.

5 In your faithfulness guide me and teach me, for you are my God and my saviour.

Guidami nella tua verità e istruiscimi, perché sei tu il Dio della mia salvezza, in te ho sempre sperato.

6 Remember your pity, O Lord, and your kindness, for they have been ever of old.

Ricordati, Signore, del tuo amore, della tua fedeltà che è da sempre.

7 Do not remember the sins of my youth; remember me in kindness, because of your goodness, Lord.

Non ricordare i peccati della mia giovinezza: ricordati di me nella tua misericordia, per la tua bontà, Signore.

8 Good is the Lord and upright, so he teaches sinners the way.

Buono e retto è il Signore, la via giusta addita ai peccatori;

9 The humble he guides in the right, he teaches the humble his way.

guida gli umili secondo giustizia, insegna ai poveri le sue vie.

10 All his ways are loving and loyal to those who observe his charges and covenant.

Tutti i sentieri del Signore sono verità e grazia per chi osserva il suo patto e i suoi precetti.

11 Be true to your name Lord, forgive my many sins.

Per il tuo nome, Signore, perdona il mio peccato anche se grande.

12 Who then is the person who fears the Lord? He will teach them the way to choose.

Chi è l'uomo che teme Dio? Gli indica il cammino da seguire.

13 They will live in prosperity, their children will inherit the land.

Egli vivrà nella ricchezza, la sua discendenza possederà la terra.

14 The Lord gives guidance to those who fear him, and with his covenant he makes them acquainted.

Il Signore si rivela a chi lo teme, gli fa conoscere la sua alleanza.

15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for out of the net he brings my foot.

Tengo i miei occhi rivolti al Signore, perché libera dal laccio il mio piede.

16 Turn to me with your favour, for I am lonely and crushed

Volgiti a me e abbi misericordia, perché sono solo ed infelice.

17 In my heart are strain and storm; bring me out of my distresses.

Allevia le angosce del mio cuore, liberami dagli affanni.

18 Look on my misery and trouble, and pardon all my sins,

Vedi la mia miseria e la mia pena e perdona tutti i miei peccati.

19 look on my foes oh, so many! And their cruel hatred towards me.

Guarda i miei nemici: sono molti e mi detestano con odio violento.

20 Deliver me, keep me, and shame not one who takes refuge in you.

Proteggimi, dammi salvezza; al tuo riparo io non sia deluso.

21 May integrity and innocence preserve me, for I wait for you, O Lord.

Mi proteggano integrità e rettitudine, perché in te ho sperato.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, from all its distresses.

O Dio, libera Israele da tutte le sue angosce.
