Psalms 23

1 A psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd: I am never in need.

Daavidin virsi. Herra on minun paimeneni, ei minulta mitään puutu.

2 He lays me down in green pastures. He gently leads me to waters of rest,

Viheriäisille niityille hän vie minut lepäämään; virvoittavien vetten tykö hän minut johdattaa.

3 he refreshes my life. He guides me along paths that are straight, true to his name.

Hän virvoittaa minun sieluni. Hän ohjaa minut oikealle tielle nimensä tähden.

4 And when my way lies through a valley of gloom, I fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff comfort me.

Vaikka minä vaeltaisin pimeässä laaksossa, en minä pelkäisi mitään pahaa, sillä sinä olet minun kanssani; sinun vitsasi ja sauvasi minua lohduttavat.

5 You spread a table for me in face of my foes; with oil you anoint my head, and my cup runs over.

Sinä valmistat minulle pöydän minun vihollisteni silmien eteen. Sinä voitelet minun pääni öljyllä; minun maljani on ylitsevuotavainen.

6 Surely goodness and love will pursue me – all the days of my life. In the house of the Lord I will live through the length of the days.

Sula hyvyys ja laupeus seuraavat minua kaiken elinaikani; ja minä saan asua Herran huoneessa päivieni loppuun asti.
