< Psalms 13 >

1 For the leader. A psalm of David. How long, Lord, will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD, wilt thou forget me for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
2 How long must I nurse grief inside me, and in my heart a daily sorrow? How long are my foes to exult over me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart all the day? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3 Look at me, answer me, Lord my God. Fill my eyes with your light, lest I sleep in death,
Consider [and] answer me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the [sleep of] death;
4 lest my enemies claim to have triumphed, lest my foes rejoice at my downfall.
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; [lest] mine adversaries rejoice when I am moved.
5 But I trust in your kindness: my heart will rejoice in your help.
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation:
6 I will sing to the Lord who was good to me.
I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
