Psalms 116

1 I love the Lord, for he hears my voice, my pleas for mercy.

Weil auf mein Rufen hört der Herr, hab ich die Stunden meiner Andacht lieb;

2 For he has inclined his ear to me: I will call upon him as long as I live.

er neigt sein Ohr zu mir, sooft ich rufe.

3 About me were snares of death, the anguish of Sheol was upon me: distress and sorrow were mine. (Sheol h7585)

Umfangen mich des Todes Bande, und überkommt mich Höllenangst, und komme ich in Not und Jammer, (Sheol h7585)

4 Then I called on the name of the Lord: ‘I beseech you, O Lord, deliver me.’

dann rufe ich des Herren Namen an; "Ach, rette, Herr, mein Leben!"

5 Gracious and just is the Lord, compassionate is our God.

Der Herr ist gnädig und ist mild; erbarmungsvoll ist unser Gott.

6 The Lord preserves the simple; when I was drooping, he saved me.

Einfältige beschützt der Herr; bin ich unwürdig schon, so hilft er dennoch mir.

7 Be at peace, my heart, once more, for the Lord has been good to you.

Zu deiner Ruhestätte, meine Seele, wende dich! Der Herr tut dir ja Gutes unverdient.

8 You have rescued me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.

Du wahrst mein Leben vor dem Tode, mein Auge vor den Tränen und meine Füße vor dem Straucheln.

9 Before the Lord I will walk in the land of the living.

So kann ich wandeln vor dem Herrn im Lande der Lebendigen.

10 I held fast my faith, though I said, ‘Ah me! I am sore afflicted,’

Ich kann's bestätigen, was ich jetzt sage: Ich war so tief gebeugt.

11 though in my alarm I said, ‘Everyone is a liar.’

Ich sprach in meiner Angst: "Die Menschenkinder trügen all."

12 What shall I render the Lord for all his bounty to me?

Wie kann ich jetzt dem Herrn vergelten all das, was er an mir getan?

13 I will lift up the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord.

Des Heiles Kelch ergreife ich; des Herren Ruhm verkünde ich. -

14 I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.

Was ich dem Herrn gelobt, das löse ich jetzt ein vor seinem ganzen Volke.

15 Grave in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his loyal and loved ones.

Bedeutungsvoll ist in des Herren Augen, wenn's um das Sterben seiner Frommen geht. -

16 Ah, Lord! I am your servant, your servant, child of your handmaid. You have loosened my bonds.

Ach, Herr, ich bin Dein Knecht; ich bin Dein Knecht, von Deiner Magd geboren. Wenn Du jetzt meine Bande lösest,

17 I will offer to you a thank-offering, and call on the name of the Lord.

dann bringe ich Dir Dankesopfer dar und künde so des Herren Ruhm. -

18 I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people,

Was ich dem Herrn gelobt, das löse ich jetzt ein vor seinem ganzen Volke,

19 in the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah.

im Haus des Herrn in seinen Höfen, Jerusalem, in deiner Mitte. Alleluja!
