Matthew 8
1 When Jesus had come down from the hill, great crowds followed him.
யதா³ ஸ பர்வ்வதாத்³ அவாரோஹத் ததா³ ப³ஹவோ மாநவாஸ்தத்பஸ்²சாத்³ வவ்ரஜு: |
2 He saw a leper who came up, and bowed to the ground before him, and said, ‘Master, if only you are willing, you are able to make me clean.’
ஏக: குஷ்ட²வாந் ஆக³த்ய தம்’ ப்ரணம்ய ப³பா⁴ஷே, ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, யதி³ ப⁴வாந் ஸம்’மந்யதே, தர்ஹி மாம்’ நிராமயம்’ கர்த்தும்’ ஸ²க்நோதி|
3 Stretching out his hand, Jesus touched him, saying as he did so, ‘I am willing; become clean.’ Instantly he was made clean from his leprosy;
ததோ யீஸு²: கரம்’ ப்ரஸார்ய்ய தஸ்யாங்க³ம்’ ஸ்ப்ரு’ஸ²ந் வ்யாஜஹார, ஸம்மந்யே(அ)ஹம்’ த்வம்’ நிராமயோ ப⁴வ; தேந ஸ தத்க்ஷணாத் குஷ்டே²நாமோசி|
4 and then Jesus said to him, ‘Be careful not to say a word to anyone, but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.’
ததோ யீஸு²ஸ்தம்’ ஜகா³த³, அவதே⁴ஹி கதா²மேதாம்’ கஸ்²சித³பி மா ப்³ரூஹி, கிந்து யாஜகஸ்ய ஸந்நிதி⁴ம்’ க³த்வா ஸ்வாத்மாநம்’ த³ர்ஸ²ய மநுஜேப்⁴யோ நிஜநிராமயத்வம்’ ப்ரமாணயிதும்’ மூஸாநிரூபிதம்’ த்³ரவ்யம் உத்ஸ்ரு’ஜ ச|
5 After Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion in the Roman army came up to him, entreating his help.
தத³நந்தரம்’ யீஸு²நா கப²ர்நாஹூம்நாமநி நக³ரே ப்ரவிஷ்டே கஸ்²சித் ஸ²தஸேநாபதிஸ்தத்ஸமீபம் ஆக³த்ய விநீய ப³பா⁴ஷே,
6 ‘Sir,’ he said, ‘my manservant is lying ill at my house with a stroke of paralysis, and is suffering terribly.’
ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, மதீ³ய ஏகோ தா³ஸ: பக்ஷாகா⁴தவ்யாதி⁴நா ப்⁴ரு’ஸ²ம்’ வ்யதி²த: , ஸது ஸ²யநீய ஆஸ்தே|
7 ‘I will come and cure him,’ answered Jesus.
ததா³நீம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்தஸ்மை கதி²தவாந், அஹம்’ க³த்வா தம்’ நிராமயம்’ கரிஷ்யாமி|
8 ‘Sir,’ the centurion went on, ‘I am unworthy to receive you under my roof; but only speak, and my manservant will be cured.
தத: ஸ ஸ²தஸேநாபதி: ப்ரத்யவத³த், ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, ப⁴வாந் யத் மம கே³ஹமத்⁴யம்’ யாதி தத்³யோக்³யபா⁴ஜநம்’ நாஹமஸ்மி; வாங்மாத்ரம் ஆதி³ஸ²து, தேநைவ மம தா³ஸோ நிராமயோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
9 For I myself am a man under the orders of others, with soldiers under me; and, if I say to one of them “Go,” he goes, and to another “Come,” he comes, and to my slave “Do this,” he does it.’
யதோ மயி பரநித்⁴நே(அ)பி மம நிதே³ஸ²வஸ்²யா: கதி கதி ஸேநா: ஸந்தி, தத ஏகஸ்மிந் யாஹீத்யுக்தே ஸ யாதி, தத³ந்யஸ்மிந் ஏஹீத்யுக்தே ஸ ஆயாதி, ததா² மம நிஜதா³ஸே கர்ம்மைதத் குர்வ்வித்யுக்தே ஸ தத் கரோதி|
10 Jesus was surprised to hear this, and said to those who were following him, ‘Never I tell you, in any Israelite have I met with such faith as this!
ததா³நீம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்தஸ்யைதத் வசோ நிஸ²ம்ய விஸ்மயாபந்நோ(அ)பூ⁴த்; நிஜபஸ்²சாத்³கா³மிநோ மாநவாந் அவோச்ச, யுஷ்மாந் தத்²யம்’ வச்மி, இஸ்ராயேலீயலோகாநாம்’ மத்⁴யே(அ)பி நைதாத்³ரு’ஸோ² விஸ்²வாஸோ மயா ப்ராப்த: |
11 Yes, and many will come in from East and West and take their places beside Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven;
அந்யச்சாஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் வதா³மி, ப³ஹவ: பூர்வ்வஸ்யா: பஸ்²சிமாயாஸ்²ச தி³ஸ² ஆக³த்ய இப்³ராஹீமா இஸ்ஹாகா யாகூபா³ ச ஸாகம் மிலித்வா ஸமுபவேக்ஷ்யந்தி;
12 while the heirs to the kingdom will be banished into the darkness outside; there, there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.’
கிந்து யத்ர ஸ்தா²நே ரோத³நத³ந்தக⁴ர்ஷணே ப⁴வதஸ்தஸ்மிந் ப³ஹிர்பூ⁴ததமிஸ்ரே ராஜ்யஸ்ய ஸந்தாநா நிக்ஷேஸ்யந்தே|
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go now, and it will be according to your faith.’ And the man was cured that very hour.
தத: பரம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்தம்’ ஸ²தஸேநாபதிம்’ ஜகா³த³, யாஹி, தவ ப்ரதீத்யநுஸாரதோ மங்க³லம்’ பூ⁴யாத்; ததா³ தஸ்மிந்நேவ த³ண்டே³ ததீ³யதா³ஸோ நிராமயோ ப³பூ⁴வ|
14 When Jesus went into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law prostrated with fever.
அநந்தரம்’ யீஸு²: பிதரஸ்ய கே³ஹமுபஸ்தா²ய ஜ்வரேண பீடி³தாம்’ ஸ²யநீயஸ்தி²தாம்’ தஸ்ய ஸ்²வஸ்²ரூம்’ வீக்ஷாஞ்சக்ரே|
15 On his taking her hand, the fever left her, and she rose and began to take care of him.
ததஸ்தேந தஸ்யா: கரஸ்ய ஸ்ப்ரு’ஷ்டதவாத் ஜ்வரஸ்தாம்’ தத்யாஜ, ததா³ ஸா ஸமுத்தா²ய தாந் ஸிஷேவே|
16 In the evening the people brought to Jesus many who were possessed by demons; and he drove out the spirits with a word, and cured all who were ill,
அநந்தரம்’ ஸந்த்⁴யாயாம்’ ஸத்யாம்’ ப³ஹுஸோ² பூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்தமநுஜாந் தஸ்ய ஸமீபம் ஆநிந்யு: ஸ ச வாக்யேந பூ⁴தாந் த்யாஜயாமாஸ, ஸர்வ்வப்ரகாரபீடி³தஜநாம்’ஸ்²ச நிராமயாந் சகார;
17 in fulfilment of these words in the prophet Isaiah – “He took our infirmities on himself, and bore the burden of our diseases.”
தஸ்மாத், ஸர்வ்வா து³ர்ப்³ப³லதாஸ்மாகம்’ தேநைவ பரிதா⁴ரிதா| அஸ்மாகம்’ ஸகலம்’ வ்யாதி⁴ம்’ ஸஏவ ஸம்’க்³ரு’ஹீதவாந்| யதே³தத்³வசநம்’ யிஸ²யியப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நோக்தமாஸீத், தத்ததா³ ஸப²லமப⁴வத்|
18 Seeing a crowd round him, Jesus gave orders to go across.
அநந்தரம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்²சதுர்தி³க்ஷு ஜநநிவஹம்’ விலோக்ய தடிந்யா: பாரம்’ யாதும்’ ஸி²ஷ்யாந் ஆதி³தே³ஸ²|
19 A teacher of the Law came up to him, and said, ‘Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.’
ததா³நீம் ஏக உபாத்⁴யாய ஆக³த்ய கதி²தவாந், ஹே கு³ரோ, ப⁴வாந் யத்ர யாஸ்யதி தத்ராஹமபி ப⁴வத: பஸ்²சாத்³ யாஸ்யாமி|
20 ‘Foxes have holes,’ answered Jesus, ‘and wild birds their nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’
ததோ யீஸு² ர்ஜகா³த³, க்ரோஷ்டு: ஸ்தா²தும்’ ஸ்தா²நம்’ வித்³யதே, விஹாயஸோ விஹங்க³மாநாம்’ நீடா³நி ச ஸந்தி; கிந்து மநுஷ்யபுத்ரஸ்ய ஸி²ர: ஸ்தா²பயிதும்’ ஸ்தா²நம்’ ந வித்³யதே|
21 ‘Master,’ said another, who was a disciple, ‘let me first go and bury my father.’
அநந்தரம் அபர ஏக: ஸி²ஷ்யஸ்தம்’ ப³பா⁴ஷே, ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, ப்ரத²மதோ மம பிதரம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நே நிதா⁴தும்’ க³மநார்த²ம்’ மாம் அநுமந்யஸ்வ|
22 But Jesus answered, ‘Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.’
ததோ யீஸு²ருக்தவாந் ம்ரு’தா ம்ரு’தாந் ஸ்²மஸா²நே நித³த⁴து, த்வம்’ மம பஸ்²சாத்³ ஆக³ச்ச²|
23 Then he got into the boat, followed by his disciples.
அநந்தரம்’ தஸ்மிந் நாவமாரூடே⁴ தஸ்ய ஸி²ஷ்யாஸ்தத்பஸ்²சாத் ஜக்³மு: |
24 Suddenly so great a storm came up on the sea, that the waves broke right over the boat. But Jesus was asleep;
பஸ்²சாத் ஸாக³ரஸ்ய மத்⁴யம்’ தேஷு க³தேஷு தாத்³ரு’ஸ²: ப்ரப³லோ ஜ²ஞ்ப்⁴ஸ²நில உத³திஷ்ட²த், யேந மஹாதரங்க³ உத்தா²ய தரணிம்’ சா²தி³தவாந், கிந்து ஸ நித்³ரித ஆஸீத்|
25 and the disciples came and roused him. ‘Master,’ they cried, ‘save us; we are lost!’
ததா³ ஸி²ஷ்யா ஆக³த்ய தஸ்ய நித்³ராப⁴ங்க³ம்’ க்ரு’த்வா கத²யாமாஸு: , ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, வயம்’ ம்ரியாமஹே, ப⁴வாந் அஸ்மாகம்’ ப்ராணாந் ரக்ஷது|
26 ‘Why are you so timid?’ he said. ‘You of little faith!’ Then Jesus rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and a great calm followed.
ததா³ ஸ தாந் உக்தவாந், ஹே அல்பவிஸ்²வாஸிநோ யூயம்’ குதோ விபீ⁴த²? தத: ஸ உத்தா²ய வாதம்’ ஸாக³ரஞ்ச தர்ஜயாமாஸ, ததோ நிர்வ்வாதமப⁴வத்|
27 The men were amazed, and exclaimed, ‘What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!’
அபரம்’ மநுஜா விஸ்மயம்’ விலோக்ய கத²யாமாஸு: , அஹோ வாதஸரித்பதீ அஸ்ய கிமாஜ்ஞாக்³ராஹிணௌ? கீத்³ரு’ஸோ²(அ)யம்’ மாநவ: |
28 On getting to the other side – the region of the Gadarenes – Jesus met two men who were possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one was able to pass that way.
அநந்தரம்’ ஸ பாரம்’ க³த்வா கி³தே³ரீயதே³ஸ²ம் உபஸ்தி²தவாந்; ததா³ த்³வௌ பூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்தமநுஜௌ ஸ்²மஸா²நஸ்தா²நாத்³ ப³ஹி ர்பூ⁴த்வா தம்’ ஸாக்ஷாத் க்ரு’தவந்தௌ, தாவேதாத்³ரு’ஸௌ² ப்ரசண்டா³வாஸ்தாம்’ யத் தேந ஸ்தா²நேந கோபி யாதும்’ நாஸ²க்நோத்|
29 Suddenly they shrieked out, ‘What do you want with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before our time?’
தாவுசை: கத²யாமாஸது: , ஹே ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸூநோ யீஸோ², த்வயா ஸாகம் ஆவயோ: க: ஸம்ப³ந்த⁴: ? நிரூபிதகாலாத் ப்ராகே³வ கிமாவாப்⁴யாம்’ யாதநாம்’ தா³தும் அத்ராக³தோஸி?
30 A long way off, there was a herd of many pigs, feeding;
ததா³நீம்’ தாப்⁴யாம்’ கிஞ்சித்³ தூ³ரே வராஹாணாம் ஏகோ மஹாவ்ரஜோ(அ)சரத்|
31 and the foul spirits began begging Jesus, ‘If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.’
ததோ பூ⁴தௌ தௌ தஸ்யாந்திகே விநீய கத²யாமாஸது: , யத்³யாவாம்’ த்யாஜயஸி, தர்ஹி வராஹாணாம்’ மத்⁴யேவ்ரஜம் ஆவாம்’ ப்ரேரய|
32 ‘Go,’ he said. The spirits came out, and entered the pigs; and the whole herd rushed down the steep slope into the sea, and died in the water.
ததா³ யீஸு²ரவத³த் யாதம்’, அநந்தரம்’ தௌ யதா³ மநுஜௌ விஹாய வராஹாந் ஆஸ்²ரிதவந்தௌ, ததா³ தே ஸர்வ்வே வராஹா உச்சஸ்தா²நாத் மஹாஜவேந தா⁴வந்த: ஸாக³ரீயதோயே மஜ்ஜந்தோ மம்ரு: |
33 At this the men who tended them ran away and went to the town, carrying the news of all that had occurred, and of what had happened to the possessed men.
ததோ வராஹரக்ஷகா: பலாயமாநா மத்⁴யேநக³ரம்’ தௌ பூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்தௌ ப்ரதி யத்³யத்³ அக⁴டத, தா: ஸர்வ்வவார்த்தா அவத³ந்|
34 At the news the whole town went out to meet Jesus, and, when they saw him, they entreated him to go away from their region.
ததோ நாக³ரிகா: ஸர்வ்வே மநுஜா யீஸு²ம்’ ஸாக்ஷாத் கர்த்தும்’ ப³ஹிராயாதா: தஞ்ச விலோக்ய ப்ரார்த²யாஞ்சக்ரிரே ப⁴வாந் அஸ்மாகம்’ ஸீமாதோ யாது|
