Matthew 8
1 When Jesus had come down from the hill, great crowds followed him.
१येशू डोंगरावरून खाली उतरल्यावर असंख्य लोकांचे समुदाय त्याच्यामागे जावू लागले.
2 He saw a leper who came up, and bowed to the ground before him, and said, ‘Master, if only you are willing, you are able to make me clean.’
२तेव्हा पाहा, एक कुष्ठरोगी त्याच्याकडे आला व त्यास नमन करून म्हणाला, “प्रभूजी, आपली इच्छा असल्यास आपण मला शुद्ध करायला समर्थ आहात.”
3 Stretching out his hand, Jesus touched him, saying as he did so, ‘I am willing; become clean.’ Instantly he was made clean from his leprosy;
३तेव्हा येशूने आपला हात पुढे करून त्यास स्पर्श केला व म्हटले, “माझी इच्छा आहे, शुद्ध हो;” आणि लगेचच त्याचा कुष्ठरोग जाऊन तो बरा झाला.
4 and then Jesus said to him, ‘Be careful not to say a word to anyone, but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.’
४मग येशूने त्यास म्हटले, “पाहा, हे कोणाला सांगू नको; तर जाऊन स्वतःस याजकाला दाखव आणि त्यांना सत्यतेची साक्ष पटावी म्हणून तुझ्या शुद्धीकरता, मोशेने नेमलेले अर्पण वाहा.”
5 After Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion in the Roman army came up to him, entreating his help.
५मग येशू कफर्णहूम शहरात आल्यावर एक शताधिपती त्याच्याकडे आला व त्यास विनंती करत म्हणाला,
6 ‘Sir,’ he said, ‘my manservant is lying ill at my house with a stroke of paralysis, and is suffering terribly.’
६“प्रभूजी, माझा चाकर पक्षाघाताने अतिशय आजारी होऊन घरात पडून आहे.”
7 ‘I will come and cure him,’ answered Jesus.
७येशू त्यास म्हणाला, “मी येऊन त्यास बरे करीन.”
8 ‘Sir,’ the centurion went on, ‘I am unworthy to receive you under my roof; but only speak, and my manservant will be cured.
८तेव्हा शताधिपतीने उत्तर दिले की, “प्रभूजी, आपण माझ्या छपराखाली यावे अश्या योग्यतेचा मी नाही; पण आपण शब्द मात्र बोला म्हणजे माझा चाकर बरा होईल.
9 For I myself am a man under the orders of others, with soldiers under me; and, if I say to one of them “Go,” he goes, and to another “Come,” he comes, and to my slave “Do this,” he does it.’
९कारण मीही एक अधिकारी असून माझ्या हाताखाली शिपाई आहेत. मी एकाला ‘जा’ म्हणले की तो जातो, दुसर्‍याला ‘ये’ म्हणले की तो येतो आणि माझ्या दासास ‘हे कर’ म्हणले की तो ते करतो.”
10 Jesus was surprised to hear this, and said to those who were following him, ‘Never I tell you, in any Israelite have I met with such faith as this!
१०हे ऐकून येशूला आश्चर्य वाटले व आपल्यामागे येत असलेल्या लोकांस तो म्हणाला, “मी तुम्हास खरे सांगतो, मला इस्राएलात एवढा विश्वास आढळला नाही.
11 Yes, and many will come in from East and West and take their places beside Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven;
११मी तुम्हास सांगतो की, पूर्वेकडून व पश्चिमेकडून पुष्कळजण येतील आणि स्वर्गाच्या राज्यात अब्राहाम, इसहाक व याकोब याच्या पंक्तीस बसतील;
12 while the heirs to the kingdom will be banished into the darkness outside; there, there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.’
१२परंतु राज्याचे पुत्र बाहेरील अंधारात टाकले जातील, तेथे रडणे व दात खाणे चालेल.”
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go now, and it will be according to your faith.’ And the man was cured that very hour.
१३मग येशू शताधिपतीला म्हणाला, “जा, तू जसा विश्वास ठेवला तसे तुला मिळाले आहे.” आणि त्याच घटकेस तो चाकर बरा झाला.
14 When Jesus went into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law prostrated with fever.
१४नंतर येशू पेत्राच्या घरात गेला आणि त्याची सासू तापाने आजारी पडली आहे असे त्याने पाहिले.
15 On his taking her hand, the fever left her, and she rose and began to take care of him.
१५तेव्हा त्याने तिच्या हाताला स्पर्श केला व तिचा ताप निघाला; मग ती उठून त्याची सेवा करू लागली.
16 In the evening the people brought to Jesus many who were possessed by demons; and he drove out the spirits with a word, and cured all who were ill,
१६मग संध्याकाळ झाल्यावर लोकांनी असंख्य दुष्ट आत्म्याने ग्रासलेल्यांना त्याच्याकडे आणले; तेव्हा त्याने भूते केवळ शब्दाने घालवली व सर्व आजाऱ्यांना बरे केले.
17 in fulfilment of these words in the prophet Isaiah – “He took our infirmities on himself, and bore the burden of our diseases.”
१७“त्याने स्वतः आमचे विकार घेतले आणि आमचे रोग वाहिले,” असे जे यशया संदेष्ट्याच्याद्वारे सांगितले होते ते पूर्ण व्हावे म्हणून असे झाले.
18 Seeing a crowd round him, Jesus gave orders to go across.
१८मग येशूने आपल्या सभोवती लोकसमुदाय आहे असे पाहून त्यांना गालीलच्या सरोवरापलीकडे जाण्याची आज्ञा केली.
19 A teacher of the Law came up to him, and said, ‘Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.’
१९तेव्हा कोणीएक शास्त्री येऊन त्यास म्हणाला, “गुरूजी, आपण जेथे कोठे जाल तेथे मी आपल्यामागे येईन.”
20 ‘Foxes have holes,’ answered Jesus, ‘and wild birds their nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’
२०येशू त्यास म्हणाला, “खोकडांस बि‍ळे व आकाशातील पाखरांस घरटी आहेत, परंतु मनुष्याच्या पुत्राला आपले डोके टेकण्यास ठिकाण नाही.”
21 ‘Master,’ said another, who was a disciple, ‘let me first go and bury my father.’
२१मग त्याच्या शिष्यांपैकी आणखी एकजण त्यास म्हणाला, “प्रभूजी, मला पित्याच्या मरणापर्यंत त्याच्याजवळ राहून, त्याच्या मरणानंतर त्यास पुरून येऊ द्या.”
22 But Jesus answered, ‘Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.’
२२येशूने त्यास म्हटले, “तू माझ्यामागे ये आणि जे मरण पावलेले आहेत त्यांना आपल्या मरण पावलेल्यांना पुरू दे.”
23 Then he got into the boat, followed by his disciples.
२३मग तो तारवात चढल्यानंतर त्याचे शिष्यही त्याच्यामागे चढले.
24 Suddenly so great a storm came up on the sea, that the waves broke right over the boat. But Jesus was asleep;
२४तेव्हा पाहा, सरोवरात एवढे मोठे वादळ उठले की ते तारू लाटांनी झाकू लागले; तेव्हा येशू तर झोपेत होता.
25 and the disciples came and roused him. ‘Master,’ they cried, ‘save us; we are lost!’
२५तेव्हा ते त्याच्याजवळ येऊन त्यास जागे करून म्हणाले, प्रभूजी, वाचवा. आम्ही बुडत आहोत.
26 ‘Why are you so timid?’ he said. ‘You of little faith!’ Then Jesus rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and a great calm followed.
२६तो त्यांना म्हणाला, “अहो अल्पविश्वासी, तुम्ही का घाबरला?” मग तो उठला आणि त्याने वारा व सरोवर यास धमकावले. मग सर्व अगदी शांत झाले.
27 The men were amazed, and exclaimed, ‘What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!’
२७तेव्हा त्या मनुष्यांना फार आश्चर्य वाटले व ते म्हणाले, “हा कोणत्या प्रकारचा मनुष्य आहे की वारे व लाटा ही याचे ऐकतात.”
28 On getting to the other side – the region of the Gadarenes – Jesus met two men who were possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one was able to pass that way.
२८मग तो पलीकडे गदरेकरांच्या देशात गेल्यावर त्यास दोन भूतग्रस्त कबरांतून निघून येत असतांना भेटले; ते भयंकर हिंसक होते म्हणून त्या वाटेने कोणालाही जाणे शक्य नव्हते.
29 Suddenly they shrieked out, ‘What do you want with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before our time?’
२९तेव्हा पाहा, ते ओरडून म्हणाले, “हे देवाच्या पुत्रा, तू मध्ये का पडतोस? नेमलेल्या समयापूर्वी तू आम्हास पीडा द्यायला येथे आलेला आहेस काय?”
30 A long way off, there was a herd of many pigs, feeding;
३०तेथे त्यांच्यापासून दूर अंतरावर डुकरांचा मोठा कळप चरत होता.
31 and the foul spirits began begging Jesus, ‘If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.’
३१मग ती दुष्ट आत्मे त्यास विनंती करू लागली की, तू जर आम्हास काढीत असलास तर त्या डुकरांच्या कळपात आम्हास पाठवून दे.
32 ‘Go,’ he said. The spirits came out, and entered the pigs; and the whole herd rushed down the steep slope into the sea, and died in the water.
३२त्याने त्यास म्हटले, “जा,” मग ती निघून डुकरांत शिरली; आणि पाहा, तो संपुर्ण कळप कड्यावरून धडक धावत जाऊन समुद्रात पाण्यात बुडून मरण पावला.
33 At this the men who tended them ran away and went to the town, carrying the news of all that had occurred, and of what had happened to the possessed men.
३३मग त्या डुकरांना चारणारे नगरांत पळाले आणि त्यांनी जाऊन भूतग्रस्तांच्या गोष्टीसकट सर्व वर्तमान जाहीर केले.
34 At the news the whole town went out to meet Jesus, and, when they saw him, they entreated him to go away from their region.
३४तेव्हा पाहा, सर्व नगर येशूला भेटावयास निघाले आणि त्यास सीमेबाहेर जाण्याची विनंती केली.
