Matthew 16
1 Here the Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and, to test Jesus, requested him to show them some sign from the heavens.
Und es traten die Pharisäer und Sadduzäer herzu, verfluchten ihn, und verlangten, daß er ihnen ein Zeichen aus dem Himmel zeige.
2 But Jesus answered, ‘In the evening you say “It will be fine weather, for the sky is as red as fire.”
Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Des Abends sagt ihr: Es gibt schön Wetter, denn der Himmel ist rot!
3 But in the morning you say “Today it will be stormy, for the sky is as red as fire and threatening.” You learn to read the sky; yet you are unable to read the signs of the times!
Und des Morgens: Heute gibt´s Sturm, denn der Himmel ist rot und trübe! Heuchler! Das Aussehen des Himmels wisset ihr zwar zu beurteilen, die Zeichen der Zeit könnet ihr aber nicht?
4 A wicked and unfaithful generation is asking for a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah.’ So he left them and went away.
Ein böses und ehebrecherisches Geschlecht sucht ein Zeichen, und es wird ihm kein Zeichen gegeben werden, außer das Zeichen Jonas, des Propheten. Und er verließ sie, und ging davon.
5 Now the disciples had crossed to the opposite shore, and had forgotten to take any bread.
Und da seine Jünger hinübergefahren waren, hatten sie vergessen Brote mitzunehmen.
6 Presently Jesus said to them, ‘Take care and be on your guard against the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’
Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Sehet zu, und hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer.
7 But the disciples began talking among themselves about their having brought no bread.
Sie aber gedachten untereinander, und sprachen: Wir haben kein Brot mitgenommen.
8 On noticing this, Jesus said, ‘Why are you talking among yourselves about your being short of bread, you of little faith?
Jesus aber wußte es, und sprach: Was macht ihr euch Gedanken untereinander, Kleingläubige! weil ihr nicht Brote mitgenommen habt.
9 Don’t you yet see, nor remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took away?
Seid ihr noch unverständig, und denkt ihr nicht an die fünf Brote der Fünftausend, und wieviele Körbe ihr aufhobet?
10 Nor yet the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you took away?
Noch an die sieben Brote der Viertausend, und wieviele Körbe ihr aufhobet?
11 How is it that you do not see that I was not speaking about bread? Be on your guard against the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’
Wie nun, versteht ihr nicht, daß ich nicht wegen der Brote euch gesagt habe, daß ihr euch hüten sollt vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer?
12 Then they understood that he had told them to be on their guard, not against the leaven of bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Da merkten sie, daß er nicht gesagt hatte, sie sollten sich hüten vor dem Sauerteig des Brotes, sondern vor der Lehre der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer.
13 On coming into the region of Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked his disciples this question – ‘Who do people say that the Son of Man is?’
Da kam Jesus in die Gegend von Cäsarea Philippi, fragte seine Jünger, und sprach: Wer sagen die Leute, daß der Menschensohn sei?
14 ‘Some say John the Baptist,’ they answered, ‘Others, however, say that he is Elijah, while others again say Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.’
Sie aber sprachen: Etliche sagen Johannes der Täufer; andere Elias; und wieder andere Jeremias, oder der Propheten einer.
15 ‘But you,’ he said, ‘who do you say that I am?’
Er spricht zu ihnen: Ihr aber, wer saget ihr, daß ich sei?
16 To this Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’
Da antwortete Simon Petrus, und sprach: Du bist der Messias, der Sohn des lebendigen Gottes.
17 ‘Blessed are you, Simon, Son of Jonah,’ Jesus replied. ‘For no human being has revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
Jesus aber antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Selig bist du, Simon, Sohn Jonas, denn Fleisch und Blut haben dir das nicht geoffenbart, sondern mein Vater, der in den Himmeln ist.
18 Yes, and I say to you, your name is “Peter” – a Rock, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail over it. (Hadēs g86)
Und ich sage dir: Du bist Petrus (der Felsenmann), und auf diesem Felsen will ich meine Gemeinde aufbauen, und die Pforten der Unterwelt werden sie nicht überwältigen. (Hadēs g86)
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be held in heaven to be forbidden, and whatever you allow on earth will be held in heaven to be allowed.’
Und ich will dir geben die Schlüssel der Himmelsherrschaft, und was du binden wirst auf Erden, das soll auch in den Himmeln (d. h. bei Gott) gebunden sein; und was du lösen wirst auf Erden, das soll auch in den Himmeln gelöst sein.
20 Then he charged his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.
Da verbot er seinen Jüngern, daß sie es niemand sagten, daß er der Messias wäre.
21 At that time Jesus Christ began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and undergo much suffering at the hands of the elders, and chief priests, and teachers of the Law, and be put to death, and rise on the third day.
Von da an begann Jesus seinen Jüngern zu zeigen, daß er nach Jerusalem gehen, und viel leiden müßte von den Ältesten und Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten; und getötet und am dritten Tage auferweckt werden.
22 But Peter took Jesus aside, and began to rebuke him. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘please God that will never be your fate!’
Und Petrus nahm ihn bei der Hand, und begann ihm zuzureden, indem er sagte: Behüte! Herr, das wird dir gewiß nicht geschehen!
23 Jesus, however, turning to Peter, said, ‘Out of my way, Satan! You are a hindrance to me; for you look at things, not as God does, but as person does.’
Er aber wandte sich, und sprach zu Petrus: Weiche hinter mich, Satan! du bist mir ein Fallstrick, denn du denkst nicht das, was Gottes, sondern was der Menschen ist.
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If anyone wishes to walk in my steps, they must renounce self, and take up their cross, and follow me.
Dann sprach Jesus zu seinen Jüngern: Wenn jemand hinter mir gehen will (d. h. mein Jünger sein will). der verleugne sich selbst, und nehme sein Kreuz auf sich, und folge mir nach.
25 For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, and whoever, for my sake, loses his life will find it.
Denn wer seine Seele erretten will, der wird sie verlieren, wer aber seine Seele verlieren wird, um meinetwillen, der wird sie finden.
26 What good will it do a person to gain the whole world, if he forfeits his life? Or what will a person give that is of equal value with his life?
Denn was für Nutzen hätte ein Mensch, wenn er die ganze Welt gewönne, seine Seele aber einbüßte? Oder was kann ein Mensch geben, als Lösegeld für seine Seele?
27 For the Son of Man is to come in his Father’s glory, with his angels, and then he will give to everyone what his actions deserve.
Denn es wird der Menschensohn kommen in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters mit seinen Engeln, und dann wird er vergelten einem jeglichen nach seinem Tun.
28 I tell you, some of those who are standing here will not know death until they have seen the Son of Man coming into his kingdom.’
Wahrlich, ich sage euch, es sind etliche der hier Stehenden, welche den Tod nicht schmecken werden, bis daß sie den Menschensohn kommen sehen in seiner Königsherrschaft.
