< Malachi 2 >

1 ‘Now, you priests, this command is for you.
“Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí, ẹ̀yin àlùfáà, òfin yìí ní fún yín.
2 If you will not hear, and if you do not take it to heart, to give glory to my name,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘Then I will lay a curse on you. I will turn your blessings into curses. Indeed I have already done so, because you pay no attention.
Bí ẹ̀yin kò bá ni gbọ́, bí ẹ̀yin kò bá ní fi í sí àyà láti fi ọ̀wọ̀ fún orúkọ mi,” ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí; èmi yóò sì ran ègún sí orí yín, èmi yóò sì fi ìbùkún yín ré. Nítòótọ́ mó ti fi ré ná, nítorí pé, ẹ̀yin kò fi sí ọkàn yín láti bu ọlá fún mi.
3 I will punish your descendants! I will spread offal upon your faces, even the offal of your pilgrim feasts, you will be discarded.
“Nítorí tiyín èmí yóò ba àwọn ọmọ yín wí, èmi ó sì fi ìgbẹ́ rẹ́ yín lójú, àní àwọn ìgbẹ́ ọrẹ ọwọ́ yín wọ̀nyí, a ó sì kó yín lọ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
4 You will then know that I have sent this command to you, so that my covenant with Levi may be preserved,’ says the Lord of hosts.
Ẹ̀yin ó sì mọ̀ pé, èmi ni ó ti rán òfin yìí sí yín, kí májẹ̀mú mi pẹ̀lú Lefi lè tẹ̀síwájú,” ní Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.
5 ‘My covenant with him was to give life and peace. I gave them to him so that he might revere me. He revered me, and stood in awe of my name.
“Májẹ̀mú mi wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, májẹ̀mú ti ìyè àti àlàáfíà wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀; mo sì fi wọn fún un, nítorí bíbẹ̀rù tí ó bẹ̀rù mi, tí ẹ̀rù orúkọ mi sì bà á.
6 The true instruction was in his mouth, and injustice was not found in his lips; He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many away from iniquity.
Òfin òtítọ́ wà ni ẹnu rẹ̀, a kò sì rí irọ́ ni ètè rẹ̀: ó ba mi rìn ní àlàáfíà àti ni ìdúró ṣinṣin, ó sì yí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀.
7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and people should seek the law from his mouth, because he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.
“Nítorí ètè àlùfáà ní òye láti máa pa ìmọ̀ mọ́, kí àwọn ènìyàn lè máa wá ìtọ́ni ni ẹnu rẹ̀: nítorí òun ni ìránṣẹ́ Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun.
8 ‘But you have turned aside from that way. You have caused many to stumble in the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi,’ says the Lord of hosts.
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin ti yapa kúrò ní ọ̀nà náà; ẹ̀yin sì ti fi ìkọ́ni yín mú ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ kọsẹ̀; ẹ̀yin ti ba májẹ̀mú tí mo da pẹ̀lú Lefi jẹ́,” ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.
9 ‘So I have I made you contemptible and degraded before all the people, because you have not kept my ways, and have had no respect for me in imparting the law.’
“Nítorí náà ni èmi pẹ̀lú ṣe sọ yín di ẹ̀gàn, àti ẹni àìkàsí níwájú gbogbo ènìyàn, nítorí ẹ̀yin kò tẹ̀lé ọ̀nà mi, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin ń ṣe ojúsàájú nínú òfin.”
10 Don’t we have all one father? Didn’t one God created us? Why do we deal faithlessly with one another, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?
Baba kan náà kí gbogbo wa ha ní? Ọlọ́run kan náà kọ́ ni ó dá wa bí? Nítorí kín ni àwa ha ṣe sọ májẹ̀mú àwọn baba wa di aláìmọ nípa híhu ìwà àrékérekè olúkúlùkù sí arákùnrin rẹ̀?
11 Judah is treacherous, and abominations are committed in Israel and in Jerusalem because Judah has profaned the holy things loved by the Lord, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.
Juda ti ń hùwà àrékérekè, a sì ti hùwà ìríra ní Israẹli àti ni Jerusalẹmu: nítorí Juda tí sọ ìwà mímọ́ Olúwa di aláìmọ́, èyí tí ó fẹ́, nípa gbígbé ọmọbìnrin ọlọ́run àjèjì ni ìyàwó.
12 May the Lord banish from the community of Jacob anyone who does this, anyone awaking, testifying, and making an offering to the Lord of hosts.
Ní ti ẹni tí ó ṣe èyí, ẹni tí ó wù kí ó jẹ, kí Olúwa kí ó gé e kúrò nínú àgọ́ Jakọbu, bí ó tilẹ̀ mú ẹbọ ọrẹ wá fún Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun.
13 And you also do this: You cover the altar of the Lord with tears, because he doesn’t accept the offering any more, doesn’t accept it from your hand.
Èyí ni ohun mìíràn tí ẹ̀yin sì túnṣe. Ẹ̀yin fi omijé bo pẹpẹ Olúwa mọ́lẹ̀. Ẹ̀yin sọkún, ẹ̀yin sì ba ara jẹ́ nítorí tì Òun kò ka ọrẹ yín sí mọ́, tàbí kí ó fi inú dídùn gba nǹkan yìí lọ́wọ́ yín.
14 Yet you ask, ‘Why?’ Because the Lord is testifying against you on behalf of the wife you married when you were young. You have been unfaithful to her, even though she is your companion, and your legal wife.
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin wí pé, “Nítorí kín ní?” Nítorí Olúwa ti ṣe ẹlẹ́rìí láàrín ìwọ àti láàrín aya èwe rẹ, ẹni tí ìwọ ti ń hùwà ẹ̀tàn sí i: bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹnìkejì rẹ ni òun jẹ́, àti aya májẹ̀mú rẹ.
15 Did not the one God make everyone, so that all both flesh and spirit is his? And what does that one God seek but godly children? Therefore keep watch over your spirit, and let none of you deal faithlessly with the wife of your youth.
Ọlọ́run kò ha ti ṣe wọ́n ní ọ̀kan? Ni ara àti ni ẹ̀mí tirẹ̀ ni. Èéṣe tí Ọlọ́run da yín lọ́kàn? Kí òun bá à lè wá irú-ọmọ bí ti Ọlọ́run. Nítorí náà, ẹ tọ́jú ẹ̀mí yín, ẹ má sì ṣe hùwà ẹ̀tàn sí aya èwe yín.
16 ‘A man who divorces or puts away his wife,’ says Lord, the God of Israel, ‘overwhelms her with cruelty.’ The Lord of hosts says: ‘Keep watch over your spirit, do not be unfaithful.’
“Ọkùnrin tí ó bá kórìíra, tí ó sì kọ ìyàwó rẹ̀,” se ìwà ipá sí ẹni tí ó yẹ kí ó dá ààbò bò, ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli wí, Ọlọ́run àwọn ọmọ-ogun. Nítorí náà, ẹ ṣọ́ ẹ̀mí yín, kí ẹ má ṣe hùwà ẹ̀tàn.
17 You have wearied the Lord with your words. You ask, ‘How have we wearied him?’ By saying, ‘Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delights in them.’ Or, ‘Where is the God of justice?’
Ẹ̀yin ti fi ọ̀rọ̀ yín dá Olúwa ní agara. Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin béèrè pé, “Nínú kín ni àwa fi dá a ní agara?” Nígbà tí ẹ̀yìn wí pé, “Gbogbo ẹni tí ó ṣe ibi, rere ni níwájú Olúwa, inú rẹ̀ sì dùn sí wọn,” tàbí “Níbo ni Ọlọ́run ìdájọ́ gbé wà?”
