< Hebrews 1 >

1 God, who, of old, at many times and in many ways, spoke to our ancestors, by the prophets,
God, having of old time spoken unto the fathers in the prophets by divers portions and in divers manners,
2 has in these latter days spoken to us by the Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. (aiōn g165)
hath at the end of these days spoken unto us in [his] Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds; (aiōn g165)
3 For he is the radiance of the glory of God and the expression of his being, upholding all creation by the power of his word; and, when he had made an expiation for the sins of humanity, he took his seat at the right hand of God’s Majesty on high,
who being the effulgence of his glory, and the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4 having shown himself as much greater than the angels as the name that he has inherited surpasses theirs.
having become by so much better than the angels, as he hath inherited a more excellent name than they.
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say – “You are my Son; this day I have become your Father”? or again – “I will be to him a Father, and he will be to me a Son”?
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee? and again, I will be to him a Father, And he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when God brought the firstborn into the world, he said – “Let all the angels of God bow down before him.”
And when he again bringeth in the firstborn into the world he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 Speaking of the angels, he said – “He makes the winds his angels and the flames of fire his servants”;
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels winds, And his ministers a flame of fire:
8 while of the Son he said – “God, your throne is for ever and ever; the sceptre of his kingdom is the sceptre of Justice; (aiōn g165)
but of the Son [he saith], Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever; And the sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. (aiōn g165)
9 You love righteousness and hate iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the festal oil more abundantly than your peers.”
Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 Again – “You, Lord, in the beginning did lay the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the works of thy hands:
11 They will perish, but you remain; as a garment they will all grow old;
They shall perish; but thou continuest: And they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 As a cloak you will fold them up, and as a garment they will be changed, but you are the same, and your years will know no end.”
And as a mantle shalt thou roll them up, As a garment, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, And thy years shall not fail.
13 To which of the angels has God ever said – “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies as a stool for your feet”?
But of which of the angels hath he said at any time, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet?
14 Are not all the angels spirits in the service of God, sent out to minister for the sake of those who are destined to obtain salvation?
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation?
