Acts 21
1 When we had torn ourselves away and had set sail, we ran before the wind to Cos; the next day we came to Rhodes, and from there to Patara,
நாங்கள் அவர்களைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்து, கப்பல் மூலம் புறப்பட்டு, நேர்திசையில் பயணம் செய்து, கோஸ்தீவைச் சென்றடைந்தோம். மறுநாள் அங்கிருந்து ரோதுவுக்குப் போனோம். பின்பு அங்கிருந்து பத்தாரா பட்டணத்திற்குப் போனோம்.
2 where we found a ship crossing to Phoenicia, and went on board and set sail.
அங்கிருந்து பெனிக்கேவுக்கு ஒரு கப்பல் போவதை நாங்கள் கண்டு, அதில் ஏறிப் பயணமானோம்.
3 After sighting Cyprus and leaving it on the left, we sailed to Syria, and put into Tyre, where the ship was to discharge her cargo.
நாங்கள் சீப்புரு தீவைக் கண்டு, அதன் தெற்குப் பக்கமாக அதைக் கடந்துசென்று, சீரியாவுக்குக் கப்பலில் பயணமானோம். தீரு பட்டணத்தில் கரை இறங்கினோம். ஏனெனில், அந்தக் கப்பல் அங்கே பொருட்களை இறக்க வேண்டியிருந்தது.
4 There we found the disciples and stayed a week with them. Speaking under the influence of the Spirit, they warned Paul not to set foot in Jerusalem.
அங்கே சீடர்கள் இருப்பதைக் கண்டு, அவர்களுடன் ஏழு நாட்கள் தங்கினோம். அவர்கள் ஆவியானவரின் ஏவுதலினால், எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவேண்டாம் எனப் பவுலைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டார்கள்.
5 However, when we had come to the end of our visit, we went on our way, all the disciples with their wives and children escorting us out of the city. We knelt down on the beach, and prayed,
ஆனால் நாங்களோ, அங்கே தங்கவேண்டிய காலம் முடிந்ததும், அவ்விடத்தைவிட்டு எங்கள் பயணத்தைத் தொடர்ந்தோம். அப்பொழுது அங்கேயிருந்த சீடர்கள் அனைவரும் தங்கள் மனைவி, பிள்ளைகளுடனும் பட்டணத்தைவிட்டு வெளியே வந்து, எங்களுடனே வந்தார்கள். நாங்கள் அனைவரும் கடற்கரையில் முழங்காற்படியிட்டு மன்றாடினோம்.
6 and then said goodbye to one another; after which we went on board, and they returned home.
பின்பு ஒருவருக்கொருவர் விடைபெற்று நாங்கள் கப்பலேறினோம். அவர்கள் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குத் திரும்பிச் சென்றார்கள்.
7 After we had made the run from Tyre, we landed at Ptolemais, and exchanged greetings with the followers there, and spent a day with them.
நாங்கள் தீரு பட்டணத்திலிருந்து தொடர்ந்து பயணம் செய்து, பித்தொலோமாய் பட்டணத்தில் கரையிறங்கினோம். அங்கே சகோதரரைச் சந்தித்து அவர்களை வாழ்த்தி, அவர்களுடனே ஒரு நாள் தங்கினோம்.
8 The next day we left, and reached Caesarea, where we went to the house of Philip, the missionary, who was one of the Seven, and stayed with him.
மறுநாள் நாங்கள் புறப்பட்டு செசரியா பட்டணத்தைப் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தோம். அங்கே நற்செய்தியாளனான பிலிப்புவின் வீட்டில் தங்கினோம். இவன் முன்பு உணவு பரிமாறும் பணிக்குத் தெரிந்தெடுத்த, அந்த ஏழுபேரில் ஒருவன்.
9 He had four unmarried daughters, who had the gift of prophecy.
அவனுக்கு கன்னிகைகளான நான்கு மகள்கள் இருந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் இறைவாக்கு உரைப்பவர்கள்.
10 During our visit, which lasted several days, a prophet, named Agabus, came down from Judea.
அங்கே சிலநாட்கள் நாங்கள் தங்கியிருக்கையில், அகபு என்னும் பெயருடைய இறைவாக்கினன் யூதேயாவிலிருந்து வந்தான்.
11 He came to see us, and, taking Paul’s belt, and binding his own feet and hands with it, said, ‘This is what the Holy Spirit says – “The man to whom this belt belongs will be bound like this by the religious authorities in Jerusalem, and they will give him up to the Gentiles”.’
அவன் எங்களிடம் வந்து, பவுலின் இடைக்கச்சையை எடுத்து, அதனால் தனது கைகளையும், கால்களையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு இறைவாக்குரைத்தான். அவன் சொன்னதாவது: “இந்த இடைக்கச்சைக்குச் சொந்தமானவனை எருசலேமிலுள்ள யூதர் இவ்விதமாய்க் கட்டி, அவனை யூதரல்லாத மக்களிடம் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்கள் என்று பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் சொல்கிறார்” என்றான்.
12 When we heard that, we and the people of the place began to entreat Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.
நாங்கள் இதைக் கேட்டபோது, நாங்களும் அங்கிருந்த மக்களும் எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவேண்டாம் என்று பவுலைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டோம்.
13 It was then that Paul made the reply, ‘Why are you weeping and breaking my heart like this? For my part, I am ready not only to be bound, but even to suffer death at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.’
அப்பொழுது பவுல் எங்களிடம், “நீங்கள் ஏன் அழுது என் இருதயத்தை கலங்கப் பண்ணுகிறீர்கள்? கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயருக்காக நான் எருசலேமில் கட்டி சிறையிடப்படுவதற்கு மட்டுமல்ல, இறப்பதற்கும் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறேன்” என்றான்.
14 So, as he would not be persuaded, we said no more to him, only adding – ‘The Lord’s will be done.’
நாங்கள் சொல்லியும் பவுல் கேட்காததினால், “கர்த்தருடைய சித்தத்தின்படி நடக்கட்டும்” என்று சொல்லி, நாங்கள் பேசாமல் இருந்தோம்.
15 At the end of our visit, we made our preparations, and started on our way up to Jerusalem.
இதன்பின், நாங்கள் பயணத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாகி எருசலேமுக்குப் புறப்பட்டோம்.
16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us, and brought Mnason with them, a Cypriot disciple of long standing, with whom we were to stay.
செசரியாவிலிருந்து சில சீடர்கள் எங்களுடனேகூட வந்து, நாங்கள் தங்குவதற்கு எங்களை மினாசோனுடைய வீட்டிற்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு சென்றார்கள். அவன் சீப்புரு தீவைச் சேர்ந்தவனும், தொடக்கத்திலேயே சீடர்களானவர்களில் ஒருவனுமாய் இருந்தான்.
17 On our arrival at Jerusalem, the followers of the Lord there gave us a hearty welcome;
நாங்கள் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தபோது, அங்கிருந்த சகோதரர் எங்களை மிக மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் வரவேற்றார்கள்.
18 and the next day Paul went with us to see James, and all the church elders were present.
மறுநாள் பவுலும், நாங்களும் யாக்கோபைச் சந்திக்கும்படி போனோம். எருசலேம் திருச்சபையின் தலைவர்கள் அனைவரும் அங்கே இருந்தார்கள்.
19 After greeting them, Paul related in detail all that God had done among the Gentiles through his efforts;
பவுல் அவர்களை வாழ்த்தி, தனது ஊழியத்தின் மூலம் இறைவன் யூதரல்லாதவர் மத்தியில் செய்தவற்றைக் குறித்து விவரமாய் விளக்கிச்சொன்னான்.
20 and, when they had heard it, they began praising God, and said to Paul: ‘You see, brother, that those of our people who have become believers in Christ may be numbered by tens of thousands, and they are all naturally earnest in upholding the Jewish Law.
அவர்கள் இதைக் கேட்டபோது, இறைவனைத் துதித்தார்கள். பின்பு அவர்கள் பவுலிடம்: “சகோதரனே, யூதருக்குள் ஆயிரக்கணக்கானோர் விசுவாசித்திருக்கிறார்கள் என்று நீ காண்கிறாயே. அவர்கள் அனைவரும் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தைக்குறித்து ஆர்வம் உள்ளவர்களாய் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
21 Now they have heard it said about you, that you teach all of our people in foreign countries to forsake Moses, for you tell them not to circumcise their children or even to observe Jewish customs.
யூதரல்லாதவர்களின் மத்தியில் வாழும் யூதருக்கும், அவர்கள் மோசேயின் சட்டத்தைக் கைக்கொள்வதை விட்டுவிட வேண்டும் என்று நீ போதிக்கிறதாக இங்குள்ள யூதருக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. இன்னும், அவர்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம் செய்யக்கூடாது என்றும், யூத முறைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளக்கூடாது என்றும் நீ போதிக்கிறதாகவும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
22 Well now, as they are certain to hear of your arrival, do what we are going to suggest.
ஆகவே நாம் செய்யக்கூடியது என்ன? நீ இங்கே வந்திருப்பதை அவர்கள் நிச்சயமாய் கேள்விப்படுவார்கள்.
23 We have four men here, who have of their own accord put themselves under a vow.
எனவே, நாங்கள் உனக்குச் சொல்வதைச் செய். இங்கே நேர்த்திக்கடன் செய்திருக்கிற நான்குபேர் எங்களிடம் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
24 Join these men, share their purification, and bear their expenses, so that they may shave their heads; and then all will see that there is no truth in what they have been told about you, but that, on the contrary, you yourself rule your life in obedience to the Jewish Law.
இவர்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், இவர்கள் செய்யும் பாரம்பரிய சுத்திகரிப்பு முறைமைகளில் நீயும் சேர்ந்துகொள்; இவர்கள் மொட்டையடிப்பதற்கான செலவை நீ செலுத்து. அப்பொழுது அனைவரும் உன்னைப்பற்றித் தங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட காரியங்களில் எவ்வித உண்மையும் இல்லையென்றும், நீயும் மோசேயின் சட்டத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தே வாழ்கிறாய் என்றும் அறிந்துகொள்வார்கள்.
25 As to the Gentiles who have become believers in Christ, we have sent our decision that they should avoid food offered to idols, and blood, and the flesh of strangled animals, and impurity.’
யூதரல்லாத விசுவாசிகளைக் குறித்தோ, நாங்கள் எங்கள் தீர்மானத்தை அவர்களுக்கு எழுதியிருக்கிறோம்; அவர்கள் இறைவன் அல்லாதவைகளுக்குப் பலியிடப்பட்ட உணவையும் இரத்தத்தையும் நெரிக்கப்பட்ட மிருகத்தின் இறைச்சியையும் தவிர்க்கவேண்டும் என்றும், முறைகேடான பாலுறவுகளில் ஈடுபடக்கூடாது என்றும் எழுதியிருக்கிறோம்” என்றார்கள்.
26 Paul joined the men, and the next day shared their purification, and went into the Temple, and gave notice of the expiration of the period of purification when the usual offering should have been made on behalf of each of them.
மறுநாள் பவுல் அவர்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களுடனே தானும் பாரம்பரிய முறைப்படி தன்னைச் சுத்திகரித்துக் கொண்டான். பின்பு அவன் சுத்திகரிப்புக்கான நாட்கள் எப்பொழுது முடிவடையும் என்றும், அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவருக்குமான காணிக்கை எப்பொழுது செலுத்தப்படும் என்றும் அறிவிப்பதற்கு ஆலயத்திற்குப் போனான்.
27 But, just as the seven days were drawing to a close, some of the Jewish people from Roman Asia caught sight of Paul in the Temple, and caused great excitement among all the people present, by seizing Paul and shouting,
அந்த ஏழு நாட்கள் முடியப்போகும் வேளையில், ஆசியா பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த சில யூதர்கள் பவுலை ஆலயத்தில் கண்டார்கள். அவர்கள் அங்கு கூடியிருந்த மக்களைத் தூண்டியெழுப்பி, பவுலைப் பிடித்தார்கள்.
28 ‘People of Israel! Help! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people, our Law, and this place; and, what is more, he has actually brought Greeks into the Temple and defiled this sacred place.’
அவர்கள் சத்தமிட்டு, “இஸ்ரயேலரே, எங்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்யுங்கள்! நமது மக்களுக்கும், மோசேயின் சட்டத்திற்கும், இந்த இடத்திற்கும் விரோதமாக, எல்லா இடங்களிலும் எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் போதிக்கிறவன் இவன்தான். இவன் ஆலயத்திற்குள்ளே கிரேக்கரையும் கொண்டுவந்து, இந்தப் பரிசுத்த இடத்தையும் தூய்மைக் கேடாக்கிவிட்டான்” என்றார்கள்.
29 (For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian in Paul’s company in the city, and were under the belief that Paul had taken him into the Temple.)
ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் எபேசியனான துரோப்பீமும், பவுலுடனே பட்டணத்தில் இருந்ததை முன்பு கண்டிருந்தார்கள். இதனால் பவுல், அவனையும் ஆலயத்திற்குள் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்திருப்பான் என்று அவர்கள் நினைத்தார்கள்.
30 The whole city was stirred, and the people quickly collected, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the Temple, when the doors were immediately shut.
முழுப்பட்டணமும் குழப்பமடைந்தது, எல்லாப் பகுதிகளிலும் இருந்த மக்கள் அங்கு ஓடிவந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் பவுலைப் பிடித்து, ஆலயத்திலிருந்து இழுத்துக்கொண்டு சென்றார்கள். உடனே ஆலயத்தின் கதவுகள் பூட்டப்பட்டன.
31 They were bent on killing him, when it was reported to the officer commanding the garrison, that all Jerusalem was in commotion.
அவர்கள் அவனைக் கொலைசெய்ய முயற்சிக்கையில் எருசலேம் நகரம் முழுவதும் குழப்பம் அடைந்திருக்கிறது என்ற செய்தி ரோமப் படைத்தளபதிக்கு எட்டியது.
32 He instantly got together some officers and soldiers, and charged down on the crowd, who, when they saw the commanding officer and his soldiers, stopped beating Paul.
அவன் உடனடியாகச் சில அதிகாரிகளையும், படைவீரரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை நோக்கி ஓடிவந்தான். குழப்பம் விளைவித்தவர்கள் படைத்தளபதியையும் படைவீரர்களையும் கண்டபோது, பவுலை அடிப்பதை நிறுத்திவிட்டார்கள்.
33 Then he went up to Paul, arrested him, ordered him to be doubly chained, and proceeded to inquire who he was, and what he had been doing.
படைத்தளபதி வந்து அவனைக் கைதுசெய்து, அவனை இரண்டு சங்கிலிகளினால் கட்டும்படி உத்தரவிட்டான். பின்பு அவன், இவன் யார் என்றும், என்ன செய்தான் என்றும் விசாரித்தான்.
34 Some of the crowd said one thing, and some another; and, as he could get no definite reply because of the uproar, he ordered Paul to be taken into the barracks.
மக்கள் கூட்டத்திலிருந்த சிலர் சத்தமிட்டு ஏதோ ஒன்றைச் சொன்னார்கள். மற்றவர்கள் வேறு எதையோ சொன்னார்கள். ஏற்பட்டிருந்த குழப்பத்தினால், படைத்தளபதிக்கு உண்மையை அறியமுடியவில்லை. எனவே அவன் பவுலைப் படையினரின் முகாமுக்குக் கொண்டுசெல்லும்படி உத்தரவிட்டான்.
35 When Paul reached the steps, he was actually being carried by the soldiers, owing to the violence of the mob;
பவுல் படிக்கட்டுகளை அடைந்தபோது, கலகக்காரரை அடக்க முடியாதிருந்ததால், பவுலை படைவீரர் தூக்கிச் செல்ல வேண்டியிருந்தது.
36 for the people were following in a mass, shouting out, ‘Kill him!’
பின்னாலே சென்ற மக்கள் கூட்டம், “அவனைக் கொல்லுங்கள்” என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.
37 Just as he was about to be taken into the Fort, Paul said to the commanding officer, ‘May I speak to you?’ ‘Do you know Greek?’ asked the commanding officer.
படைவீரர் பவுலை முகாமுக்குள் கொண்டுசெல்ல முயலுகையில், அவன் படைத்தளபதியிடம், “நான் உம்முடன் கொஞ்சம் பேசலாமா?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன், “உனக்கு கிரேக்க மொழி தெரியுமா?
38 ‘Aren’t you, then, the Egyptian who some time ago raised an insurrection and led the four thousand Bandits out into the wilderness?’
சிறிது காலத்துக்குமுன் ஒரு கிளர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தி, நாலாயிரம் பயங்கரவாதிகளை பாலைவனத்திற்கு வழிநடத்திப்போன எகிப்தியன் நீ தானா?” என்று கேட்டான்.
39 ‘No,’ said Paul, ‘I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of a city of some note. I beg you to give me permission to speak to the people.’
அதற்குப் பவுல், “நான் ஒரு யூதன், சிலிசியா நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த தர்சு பட்டணத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவன். ஒரு பிரபலமான பட்டணத்தின் குடிமகன். தயவுசெய்து இந்த மக்களுடன் நான் பேச என்னை அனுமதியும்” என்றான்.
40 The commanding officer gave his permission, and Paul, standing on the steps, made signs with his hand to the people, and, when comparative silence had been obtained, he said to them in Hebrew:
படைத்தளபதியின் அனுமதியைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, பவுல் படிக்கட்டுகளில் நின்று கூடியிருந்த மக்களுக்கு சைகை காட்டினான். அவர்கள் அனைவரும் அமைதியடைந்தபோது, அவன் எபிரெய மொழியில் அவர்களுடன் பேசத் தொடங்கினான்.
