Acts 14

1 The same thing occurred in Iconium, where Paul and Barnabas went into the Jewish synagogue, and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed in Christ.

பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் இக்கோனியாவிலும் வழக்கப்படி யூத ஜெப ஆலயத்திற்குச் சென்றார்கள். அங்கே அவர்கள் மிகவும் ஆற்றலுடன் பேசினார்கள். அதனால் பெருந்தொகையான யூதரும் கிரேக்கரும் விசுவாசித்தார்கள்.

2 But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the Gentiles, and poisoned their minds against the Lord’s followers.

ஆனால் விசுவாசிக்க மறுத்த யூதர், யூதரல்லாத மக்களைத் தூண்டி, சகோதரருக்கு எதிராக அவர்களுடைய மனதில் பகை உண்டாக்கினார்கள்.

3 Therefore Paul and Barnabas spent a long time there, and spoke out fearlessly, relying on the Lord, who confirmed the message of his love by permitting signs and wonders to take place at their hands.

ஆனால் பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் கர்த்தருக்காகத் துணிவுடன் பேசிக்கொண்டு, சில நாட்களை அங்கே கழித்தார்கள். அவர்களுக்கு அற்புத அடையாளங்களையும், அதிசயங்களையும் செய்யக்கூடிய ஆற்றலைக் கொடுத்து, கர்த்தர் தமது கிருபையின் செய்தியை உறுதிப்படுத்தினார்.

4 But the townspeople were divided, some siding with the Jews, some with the apostles;

அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் மக்கள் இரண்டாகப் பிளவுபட்டார்கள்; சிலர் யூதருடைய பக்கமும், மற்றவர்கள் அப்போஸ்தலரின் பக்கமும் சாய்ந்து கொண்டார்கள்.

5 and, when there was an attempt on the part of both Gentiles and Jews, with their leaders, to resort to violence and to stone them,

பவுலையும் பர்னபாவையும் துன்பப்படுத்தவும், அவர்களைக் கல்லால் எறியவும் யூதரல்லாத மக்களும், யூதரும், அவர்களுடைய தலைவர்களும் சூழ்ச்சி செய்துகொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

6 the apostles heard of it, and took refuge in Lystra and Derbe, towns in Lycaonia, and in the district round,

ஆனால் பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் அதைப்பற்றி அறிந்து, லிக்கவோனியா நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த லீஸ்திரா, தெர்பை ஆகிய பட்டணங்களுக்கும் அதைச் சுற்றியுள்ள நாட்டுப் புறத்திற்கும் தப்பியோடினார்கள்.

7 and there they continued to tell the good news.

அங்கே அவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து நற்செய்தியைப் பிரசங்கித்தார்கள்.

8 In the streets of Lystra there used to sit a man who had no power in his feet; he had been lame from his birth, and had never walked.

லீஸ்திராவிலே கால் ஊனமுற்ற ஒருவன் இருந்தான். அவன் பிறப்பிலேயே கால் ஊனமுற்றவனாய் இருந்ததால், ஒருபோதும் நடந்ததில்லை.

9 This man was listening to Paul speaking, when Paul, looking intently at him, and seeing that he had the faith to be healed,

பவுல் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், அவன் அதைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தான். பவுல் அவனை உற்றுநோக்கி, அவனுக்கு சுகம் அடைவதற்குரிய விசுவாசம் இருக்கிறது எனக் கண்டான்.

10 said loudly, ‘Stand upright on your feet.’ The man leaped up, and began walking about,

எனவே பவுல் அவனிடம், “நீ காலூன்றி எழுந்து நில்” என்றான். இதைக் கேட்ட அவன் துள்ளி எழுந்து நடக்கத் தொடங்கினான்.

11 and the crowd, seeing what Paul had done, called out in the Lycaonian language, ‘The Gods have come down to us in human form.’

கூடியிருந்த மக்கள் பவுல் செய்ததைக் கண்டபோது, “தெய்வங்கள் மனித உருவெடுத்து நம்மிடம் இறங்கி வந்திருக்கின்றன” என்று, லிக்கவோனியா மொழியில் சத்தமிட்டுச் சொன்னார்கள்.

12 So they called Barnabas “Zeus,” and Paul “Hermes,” because he took the lead in speaking;

அவர்கள் பர்னபாவை கிரேக்க தெய்வமான செயுஸ் என்றார்கள், பவுல் முக்கிய பேச்சாளனாய் இருந்ததால், அவனை எர்மஸ் என்றார்கள்.

13 and the priest of Zeus-beyond-the-Walls, accompanied by the crowd, brought bullocks and garlands to the gates, with the intention of offering sacrifices.

அப்பொழுது பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியே, இருந்த செயுஸ் தெய்வத்தின் கோயிலைச் சேர்ந்த பூசாரி காளைகளையும் பூமாலைகளையும் பட்டணத்தின் வாசல்கள் அருகே கொண்டுவந்தான். ஏனெனில் அவனும், கூடியிருந்த மக்களும் பவுலுக்கும் பர்னபாவுக்கும் பலிகளைச் செலுத்த விரும்பினார்கள்.

14 But, when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd. ‘Friends, why are you doing this?’ they shouted.

அப்போஸ்தலர்களான பர்னபாவும் பவுலும் இதைக்குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவர்கள் தங்கள் உடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, கூட்டத்துக்குள் சத்தமிட்டுக்கொண்டு ஓடினார்கள்:

15 ‘We are only people like yourselves, and we have come with the good news that you should turn away from these follies to a living God, who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything that is in them.

“நண்பர்களே, நீங்கள் ஏன் இப்படிச் செய்கிறீர்கள்? நாங்களும் உங்களைப்போன்ற மனிதர்களே. நாங்கள் உங்களுக்கு நற்செய்தியைக் கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறோம். நீங்களும் இந்த பயனற்ற காரியங்களைக் கைவிட்டு, ஜீவனுள்ள இறைவனிடம் மனந்திரும்ப வேண்டும் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறோம். ஏனெனில் அவரே வானத்தையும், பூமியையும், கடலையும், அவற்றிலுள்ள எல்லாவற்றையும் படைத்தார்.

16 In bygone times he permitted all the nations to go their own ways.

கடந்த காலத்தில் இறைவன் எல்லா நாட்டு மக்களையும், தங்கள் சொந்த வழியிலே போகவிட்டிருந்தார்.

17 Yet he has not failed to give you, in the good he does, some revelation of himself – sending you from heaven rain and fruitful seasons, and gladdening your hearts with plenty and good cheer.’

ஆனால், இறைவன் தம்மைக்குறித்த எந்த ஒரு சாட்சியும் இல்லாமல் விட்டுவிடவில்லை: அவர் வானத்திலிருந்து உங்களுக்கு மழையையும், பருவகாலங்களில் அதற்குரிய விளைச்சலையும் கொடுத்து, தமது நன்மையை காண்பித்திருக்கிறார்; அவர் நிறைவான உணவை உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்து, உங்கள் இருதயங்களைச் சந்தோஷத்தினால் நிரப்பியிருக்கிறார்” என்றார்கள்.

18 Even with this appeal they could hardly restrain the people from offering sacrifice to them.

இந்த வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லியும்கூட, கூடியிருந்த மக்கள் தங்களுக்குப் பலியிடுவதைத் தடுப்பது அவர்களுக்குக் கடினமாக இருந்தது.

19 Presently, however, there came some Jews from Antioch, and Iconium who, after they had won over the people, stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the town, thinking him to be dead.

அப்பொழுது அந்தியோகியாவிலும் இக்கோனியாவிலுமிருந்து வந்த சில யூதர்கள், மக்கள் கூட்டத்தைத் தங்கள் பக்கமாய்த் திருப்பிக்கொண்டார்கள். அவர்கள் பவுலின்மேல் கல்லெறிந்து, அவன் இறந்துவிட்டதாக எண்ணி, அவனைப் பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியே இழுத்துக்கொண்டு போனார்கள்.

20 But, when the disciples had gathered round him, he got up and went back into the town; the next day he went with Barnabas to Derbe.

ஆனால் சீடர்கள் வந்து பவுலைச்சுற்றி நின்றபோது, அவன் எழுந்து மீண்டும் பட்டணத்திற்குள் போனான். மறுநாளில் பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் தெர்பைக்குச் சென்றார்கள்.

21 After telling the good news throughout that town, and making a number of converts, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

பவுல் மற்றும் பர்னபா அந்தப் பட்டணத்திலே நற்செய்தியைப் பிரசங்கித்து, பெருந்தொகையானவர்களைச் சீடராக்கினார்கள். பின்பு அவர்கள் லீஸ்திராவுக்கும், இக்கோனியாவுக்கும், அந்தியோகியாவுக்கும் திரும்பிச் சென்றார்கள்.

22 reassuring the minds of the disciples, urging them to remain true to the faith, and showing that it is only through many troubles that we can enter the kingdom of God.

அங்கே அவர்கள் சீடர்களைப் பெலப்படுத்தி, விசுவாசத்திற்கு உண்மையாய் இருக்கும்படி, அவர்களை உற்சாகப்படுத்தினார்கள். “நாம் பல துன்பங்களை அனுபவித்து, இறைவனுடைய அரசுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்க வேண்டும்” என்று அவர்கள் சொன்னார்கள்.

23 They also appointed elders for them in every church, and, after prayer and fasting, commended them to the Lord in whom they had learned to believe.

பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் ஒவ்வொரு திருச்சபையிலும், அங்கிருந்த சீடர்களுக்கென சபைத்தலைவர்களை நியமித்தார்கள். விசுவாசிகள் உபவாசத்துடன் மன்றாடி தாங்கள் சார்ந்திருந்த கர்த்தருக்கு அந்த தலைவர்களை ஒப்புவித்தார்கள்.

24 Paul and Barnabas then went through Pisidia, and came into Pamphylia,

அவர்கள் பிசீதியா வழியாகப்போய், பின்பு பம்பிலியாவுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.

25 and, after telling the message at Perga, went down to Attaleia.

அவர்கள் பெர்கே பட்டணத்தில் வார்த்தையைப் பிரசங்கித்த பின்பு, அத்தலியா பட்டணத்திற்குச் சென்றார்கள்.

26 From there they sailed to Antioch – the place where they had been committed to the gracious care of God for the work which they had now finished.

அத்தலியாவிலிருந்து அவர்கள் அந்தியோகியாவுக்குக் கப்பல் மூலமாய்த் திரும்பிப் போனார்கள். அங்குதான் இப்பொழுது நிறைவேற்றிய பணிக்காக, இறைவனுடைய கிருபைக்கு அவர்கள் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

27 After their arrival, they gathered the church together, and gave an account of all that God had helped them to do, and especially how he had opened to the Gentiles the door of faith;

அவர்கள் அங்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தபோது, திருச்சபையை ஒன்றுகூட்டி, தங்கள் மூலமாக இறைவன் செய்த எல்லாவற்றையும் அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள். எவ்விதமாக இறைவன் விசுவாசத்தின் கதவை யூதரல்லாத மக்களுக்கும் திறந்தார் என்பதையும் அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

28 and at Antioch they stayed with the disciples for a considerable time.

அங்கே அவர்கள் சீடர்களுடன் அதிக நாட்கள் தங்கினார்கள்.
