1 Thessalonians 5
1 But as to the times and the moments, there is no need, friends, for anyone to write to you.
१पर हे भाइयों, इसका प्रयोजन नहीं, कि समयों और कालों के विषय में तुम्हारे पास कुछ लिखा जाए।
2 You yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come just as a thief comes in the night.
२क्योंकि तुम आप ठीक जानते हो कि जैसा रात को चोर आता है, वैसा ही प्रभु का दिन आनेवाला है।
3 When people are saying “All is quiet and safe,” it is then that, like birth pains on a pregnant woman, ruin comes suddenly upon them, and there will be no escape!
३जब लोग कहते होंगे, “कुशल है, और कुछ भय नहीं,” तो उन पर एकाएक विनाश आ पड़ेगा, जिस प्रकार गर्भवती पर पीड़ा; और वे किसी रीति से न बचेंगे।
4 You, however, friends, are not in darkness, that the daylight should take you by surprise as if you were thieves.
४पर हे भाइयों, तुम तो अंधकार में नहीं हो, कि वह दिन तुम पर चोर के समान आ पड़े।
5 For you all are children of light and children of the day. We have nothing to do with night, or darkness.
५क्योंकि तुम सब ज्योति की सन्तान, और दिन की सन्तान हो, हम न रात के हैं, न अंधकार के हैं।
6 Therefore let us not sleep as others do. No, let us be watchful and self-controlled.
६इसलिए हम औरों की समान सोते न रहें, पर जागते और सावधान रहें।
7 It is at night that people sleep, and at night that drunkards get drunk.
७क्योंकि जो सोते हैं, वे रात ही को सोते हैं, और जो मतवाले होते हैं, वे रात ही को मतवाले होते हैं।
8 But let us, who belong to the day, control ourselves, and put on faith and love as a breast plate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
८पर हम जो दिन के हैं, विश्वास और प्रेम की झिलम पहनकर और उद्धार की आशा का टोप पहनकर सावधान रहें।
9 For God destined us, not for wrath, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us,
९क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने हमें क्रोध के लिये नहीं, परन्तु इसलिए ठहराया कि हम अपने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा उद्धार प्राप्त करें।
10 that, whether we are still watching or have fallen asleep, we may live with him.
१०वह हमारे लिये इस कारण मरा, कि हम चाहे जागते हों, चाहे सोते हों, सब मिलकर उसी के साथ जीएँ।
11 Therefore encourage one another, and try to build up one another’s characters, as indeed you are doing.
११इस कारण एक दूसरे को शान्ति दो, और एक दूसरे की उन्नति का कारण बनो, जैसा कि तुम करते भी हो।
12 We beg you, friends, to value those who toil among you, and are your leaders in the Lord’s service, and give you counsel.
१२हे भाइयों, हम तुम से विनती करते हैं, कि जो तुम में परिश्रम करते हैं, और प्रभु में तुम्हारे अगुए हैं, और तुम्हें शिक्षा देते हैं, उन्हें मानो।
13 Hold them in the very greatest esteem and affection for the sake of their work. Live at peace with one another.
१३और उनके काम के कारण प्रेम के साथ उनको बहुत ही आदर के योग्य समझो आपस में मेल-मिलाप से रहो।
14 We entreat you also, friends – warn the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, give a helping hand to the weak, and be patient with everyone.
१४और हे भाइयों, हम तुम्हें समझाते हैं, कि जो ठीक चाल नहीं चलते, उनको समझाओ, निरुत्साहित को प्रोत्साहित करो, निर्बलों को सम्भालो, सब की ओर सहनशीलता दिखाओ।
15 Take care that none of you ever pays back wrong for wrong, but always follow the kindest course with one another and with everyone.
१५देखो की कोई किसी से बुराई के बदले बुराई न करे; पर सदा भलाई करने पर तत्पर रहो आपस में और सबसे भी भलाई ही की चेष्टा करो।
16 Always be joyful;
१६सदा आनन्दित रहो।
17 never cease to pray;
१७निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहो।
18 under all circumstances give thanks to God. For this is his will for you as made known in Christ Jesus.
१८हर बात में धन्यवाद करो: क्योंकि तुम्हारे लिये मसीह यीशु में परमेश्वर की यहीं इच्छा है।
19 Do not quench the Spirit;
१९आत्मा को न बुझाओ।
20 do not make light of preaching.
२०भविष्यद्वाणियों को तुच्छ न जानो।
21 Bring everything to the test; cling to what is good;
२१सब बातों को परखो जो अच्छी है उसे पकड़े रहो।
22 shun every form of evil.
२२सब प्रकार की बुराई से बचे रहो।
23 May God himself, the giver of peace, make you altogether holy; and may your spirits, souls, and bodies be kept altogether faultless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
२३शान्ति का परमेश्वर आप ही तुम्हें पूरी रीति से पवित्र करे; तुम्हारी आत्मा, प्राण और देह हमारे प्रभु यीशु मसीह के आने तक पूरे और निर्दोष सुरक्षित रहें।
24 He who calls you will not fail you; he will complete his work.
२४तुम्हारा बुलानेवाला विश्वासयोग्य है, और वह ऐसा ही करेगा।
25 Friends, pray for us.
२५हे भाइयों, हमारे लिये प्रार्थना करो।
26 Greet all the Lord’s followers with a sacred kiss.
२६सब भाइयों को पवित्र चुम्बन से नमस्कार करो।
27 I order you in the Lord’s name to have this letter read to all the brethren.
२७मैं तुम्हें प्रभु की शपथ देता हूँ, कि यह पत्री सब भाइयों को पढ़कर सुनाई जाए।
28 May the blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
२८हमारे प्रभु यीशु मसीह का अनुग्रह तुम पर होता रहे।
