1 Peter 1
1 To the people of God who are living abroad, dispersed throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,
Petru, apostol al lui Isus Hristos, către cei aleși, care locuiesc ca străini în Dispersia, în Pont, în Galatia, în Capadocia, în Asia și în Bitinia,
2 and who were chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the consecration of the Spirit, to learn obedience, and to be purified by the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. May blessing and peace be yours in ever increasing measure.
după știința dinainte a lui Dumnezeu Tatăl, în sfințirea Duhului, ca să vă supuneți lui Isus Hristos și să fiți stropiți cu sângele Lui: Harul să vă fie vouă și pacea să se înmulțească.
3 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has, in his great mercy, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Binecuvântat să fie Dumnezeul și Tatăl Domnului nostru Isus Hristos, care, după marea Sa îndurare, ne-a făcut să ne renaștem la o nădejde vie, prin învierea lui Isus Hristos din morți,
4 given us the new life of undying hope, that promises an inheritance, imperishable, stainless, unfading, which has been reserved for you in heaven –
la o moștenire incoruptibilă și nestricăcioasă, care nu se pierde, rezervată în ceruri pentru voi,
5 for you who, through faith, are being guarded by the power of God, awaiting a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last days.
care, prin puterea lui Dumnezeu, sunteți păziți prin credință pentru o mântuire care se va arăta în vremea de apoi.
6 At the thought of this you are full of exultation, though (if it has been necessary) you have suffered for the moment somewhat from various trials;
În aceasta vă bucurați foarte mult, deși acum, pentru puțină vreme, dacă este nevoie, ați fost îndurerați în diferite încercări,
7 that the genuineness of your faith – a thing far more precious than gold, which is perishable, yet has to be tested by fire – may win praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
pentru ca dovada credinței voastre, care este mai prețioasă decât aurul care piere, chiar dacă este încercat prin foc, să se dovedească a avea ca rezultat lauda, gloria și onoarea la arătarea lui Isus Hristos —
8 Though you have never seen him, yet you love him; though you do not even now see him, yet you believe in him, and exalt with a triumphant happiness too great for words,
pe care, fără să-L cunoașteți, Îl iubiți. În el, deși acum nu-l vedeți, crezând, vă bucurați foarte mult, cu o bucurie de nedescris și plină de glorie,
9 as you receive the reward of your faith in the salvation of your souls!
primind rezultatul credinței voastre, mântuirea sufletelor voastre.
10 It was this salvation that the prophets, who spoke long ago of the blessing intended for you, sought, and strove to comprehend;
Proorocii au căutat și au cercetat cu sârguință această mântuire. Ei au profețit despre harul care va veni la voi,
11 as they strove to discern what that time could be, to which the Spirit of Christ within them was pointing, when foretelling the sufferings that Christ would have to endure, and the glories that would follow.
căutând la cine sau la ce fel de timp arăta Duhul lui Hristos care era în ei când a prezis suferințele lui Hristos și gloria care le va urma.
12 And it was revealed to them that it was not for themselves, but for you, that they were acting as Ministers of the truths which have now been told to you, by those who, with the help of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, have brought you the good news – truths into which even angels long to look.
Lor li s-a arătat că nu ei își slujeau lor înșiși, ci vouă, în aceste lucruri care v-au fost anunțate acum prin cei care v-au vestit Buna Vestire, prin Duhul Sfânt trimis din ceruri; lucruri pe care îngerii doresc să le cerceteze.
13 Therefore concentrate your minds, with the strictest self-control, and fix your hopes on the blessing that is coming for you at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
De aceea, pregătiți-vă mințile pentru acțiune. Fiți cumpătați și puneți-vă toată nădejdea în harul care vă va fi adus la descoperirea lui Isus Hristos—
14 Be like obedient children; do not let your lives be shaped by the passions which once swayed you in the days of your ignorance,
ca niște copii ai ascultării, fără să vă conformați după poftele voastre de odinioară, ca în ignoranța voastră,
15 but in your whole life show yourselves to be holy, after the pattern of the Holy One from whom you received your call.
ci, după cum cel care v-a chemat este sfânt, fiți și voi sfinți în toată purtarea voastră,
16 For scripture says – “You will be holy, because I am holy.”
pentru că este scris: “Să fiți sfinți, căci eu sunt sfânt”.
17 And since you call on him as “Father,” who judges everyone impartially by what he has done, let respectful awe be the spirit of your lives during the time of your stay on earth.
Dacă Îl chemați ca Tată pe El, care, fără deosebire de persoane, judecă după fapta fiecăruia, petreceți aici, ca străini, timpul vieții voastre, cu frică și respect,
18 For you know that it was not by perishable things, such as silver and gold, that you were ransomed from the aimless way of living which was handed down to you from your ancestors,
știind că ați fost răscumpărați, nu cu lucruri coruptibile, ca argintul sau aurul, de la modul de viață nefolositor, moștenit de la părinții voștri,
19 but by precious blood, as it were of a lamb, unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
ci cu sânge prețios, ca al unui miel fără cusur și fără pată, sângele lui Hristos,
20 Destined for this before the beginning of the world, he has been revealed in these last days for your sakes,
care a fost cunoscut mai dinainte de întemeierea lumii, dar care a fost descoperit în acest ultim veac pentru voi,
21 who, through him, are faithful to God who raised him from the dead and gave him honour, so that your faith and hope are now in God.
care, prin el, sunteți credincioși în Dumnezeu, care l-a înviat din morți și i-a dat slavă, pentru ca credința și speranța voastră să fie în Dumnezeu.
22 Now that, by your obedience to the truth, you have purified your lives, so that there is growing up among you a genuine affection, love one another earnestly with all your hearts;
După ce v-ați curățit sufletele în ascultarea adevărului prin Duhul Sfânt, într-o sinceră afecțiune frățească, iubiți-vă cu ardoare unii pe alții din inimă,
23 since your new life has come, not from perishable, but imperishable, seed, through the message of the Everliving God. (aiōn g165)
fiind născuți din nou, nu din sămânță coruptibilă, ci din incoruptibilă, prin cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, care trăiește și rămâne în veci. (aiōn g165)
24 For – “All earthly life is but as grass, and all its splendour as the flower of grass. The grass fades, its flower falls,
Căci, “Toată carnea este ca iarba, și toată slava omului ca floarea din iarbă. Iarba se usucă, iar floarea ei cade;
