1 Corinthians 9
1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen our Lord Jesus? Aren’t you yourselves my work achieved in union with the Lord?
Bin ich nicht frei? bin ich nicht Apostel? Habe ich nicht unsern Herrn Jesus gesehen? Seid nicht ihr mein Werk im Herrn?
2 If I am not an apostle to others, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal that stamps me as an apostle in union with the Lord.
Wenn ich für andere nicht Apostel bin, so bin ich es doch für euch: seid ihr doch das Siegel meines Apostolates im Herrn.
3 The defence that I make to my critics is this:
Meine Rechtfertigung gegen meine Inquisitoren ist dies.
4 Haven’t we a right to food and drink?
Haben wir nicht Macht zu essen, und nicht Macht zu trinken?
5 Haven’t we a right to take a wife with us, if she is a Christian, as the other apostles and the Master’s brothers and Cephas all do?
Haben wir nicht Macht eine Schwester als Ehefrau mit herumzuführen, wie die übrigen Apostel auch, selbst die Brüder des Herrn, selbst Kephas?
6 Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to give up working for our bread?
oder sind wir allein, ich und Barnabas, nicht berechtigt von der Handarbeit zu feiern?
7 Does anyone ever serve as a soldier at his own expense? Does anyone plant a vineyard and not eat its produce? Or does anyone look after a herd and not drink the milk?
Wer dient im Feld auf eigenen Sold? Wer baut den Weinberg, ohne die Frucht zu genießen? Wer weidet die Herde und genießt nicht von ihrer Milch?
8 Am I, in all this, speaking only from the human standpoint? Does not the Law also say the same?
Ist das nur nach dem Leben geredet, oder sagt nicht dasselbe auch das Gesetz?
9 For in the Law of Moses it is said – “You should not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it the bullocks that God is thinking of?
Steht doch im Gesetze Moses geschrieben: du sollst dem dreschenden Ochsen das Maul nicht verbinden. Kümmert sich Gott etwa um die Ochsen? oder gehen nicht überall seine Worte auf uns?
10 Or is not is said entirely for our sakes? Surely it was written for our sakes, for the ploughman ought not to plough, nor the thrasher to thrash, without expecting a share of the grain.
oder gehen nicht überall seine Worte auf uns? Um unsertwillen ist es geschrieben, daß der Pflüger auf Hoffnung pflügen soll, und der Drescher arbeiten auf Hoffnung des Mitgenusses.
11 Since we, then, sowed spiritual seed for you, is it too much that we should reap from you an earthly harvest?
Wenn wir euch das Geistliche gesät haben, ist es denn etwas großes, wenn wir euer fleischliches Gut ernten sollen?
12 If others share in this right over you, don’t we even more? Still we did not avail ourselves of this right. No, we endure anything rather than impede the progress of the good news of the Christ.
Wenn Andere über das Eure mit verfügen, warum nicht wir noch mehr? Aber wir haben davon keinen Gebrauch gemacht; vielmehr halten wir uns ganz zurück, um nicht dem Evangelium Christus' ein Hindernis zu bereiten.
13 Don’t you know that those who do the work of the Temple live on what comes from the Temple, and that those who serve at the altar share the offerings with the altar?
Wisset ihr nicht, daß die, welche den Gottesdienst besorgen, auch vom Tempel essen? daß die welche des Altars warten, auch ihren Teil von demselben bekommen?
14 So, too, the Master has appointed that those who tell the good news should get their living from the good news.
So hat auch der Herr verordnet für die, welche das Evangelium verkündigen, daß sie vom Evangelium leben sollen.
15 I, however, have not availed myself of any of these rights. I am not saying this to secure such an arrangement for myself; indeed, I would far rather die – Nobody will make my boast a vain one!
Ich aber habe davon keinerlei Gebrauch gemacht. Ich schreibe davon auch nicht, damit es auf mich angewendet werde; lieber wollte ich sterben als mir meinen Ruhm nehmen lassen.
16 If I proclaim the good news, I have nothing to boast of, for I am compelled to do so. Woe is me if I do not share it!
Wenn ich das Evangelium verkünde, so habe ich davon keinen Ruhm; ich kann nicht anders; wehe mir, wenn ich es unterließe.
17 If I do this work willingly, I have a reward; but, if unwillingly, I have been charged to perform a duty.
Ja aus eigenem Willen gethan, hätte es seinen Lohn; als Muß vollbracht, ist es ein Amt mit dem ich betraut bin.
18 What is my reward, then? To present the good news free of all cost, and so make but a sparing use of the rights which it gives me.
Was habe ich also für einen Lohn? Den, daß ich als Verkünder des Evangeliums dasselbe darbiete ohne Kosten, so daß ich mein Recht dabei nicht benutze.
19 Although I was entirely free, yet, to win as many converts as possible, I made myself everyone’s slave.
Obwohl ich frei dastand gegenüber von allen, habe ich mich allen zum Knecht gemacht, um recht viele zu gewinnen.
20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win Jews. To those who are subject to Law I became like a man subject to Law – though I was not myself subject to Law – to win those who are subject to Law.
Ich bin den Juden wie ein Jude geworden, um Juden zu gewinnen, denen unter dem Gesetz wie einer der unter dem Gesetz ist, der ich doch nicht unter dem Gesetze stehe - um die unter dem Gesetz zu gewinnen.
21 To those who have no Law I became like a man who has no Law – not that I am free from God’s Law; no, for I am under Christ’s Law – to win those who have no law.
Denen ohne Gesetz, wie einer ohne Gesetz, der ich doch nicht ohne Gottes Gesetz bin, vielmehr im Gesetz Christus' stehe - um die ohne Gesetz zu gewinnen.
22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so as at all costs to save some.
Den Schwachen bin ich schwach geworden, um die Schwachen zu gewinnen. Ich bin allen alles geworden, um allerwege etliche zu retten.
23 And I do everything for the sake of the good news, so that with them I may share in its blessings.
Alles aber thue ich um der Verkündigung des Evangeliums willen, um meinen Teil an seiner Gemeinschaft zu haben.
24 Don’t you know that on a racecourse, though all run, yet only one wins the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
Wisset ihr nicht, daß die in der Rennbahnlaufen, wohl alle laufen, aber Einer bekommt den Preis? So laufet nun um ihn zu erlangen.
25 Every athlete exercises self-restraint in everything; they, indeed, for a crown that fades, we for one that is unfading.
Wer aber als Wettkämpfer auftreten will, der lebt in strenger Enthaltsamkeit. Und dort handelt es sich um einen vergänglichen Kranz: bei uns um einen unvergänglichen.
26 I, therefore, do not run aimlessly. I do not box like a man hitting the air.
ich meinerseits will nicht in den Tag hinein laufen, ich will meine Streiche nicht in die Luft führen.
27 No, I bruise my body and make it my slave, so that I, who have called others to the contest, will not myself be rejected.
Sondern ich zerschlage und knechte meinen Leib, um nicht, während ich andern predige, selbst zu Schanden zu werden.
