< Luke 3 >

1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar [Ruler], Pontius Pilate [Armed with javelin] being governor of Judea [Praise], and Herod [Heroic] being tetrarch (one of four co-emperors) of Galilee [District, Circuit], and his brother Philip [Loves horses] tetrarch (one of four co-emperors) of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch (one of four co-emperors) of Abilene,
Nan tan sa a, Seza Tibè te gen kenzan depi li te wa; Pons Pilat t'ap kòmande nan peyi Jide; Ewòd menm te chèf nan peyi Galile; Filip, frè Ewòd la, te chèf nan peyi Litoure ak nan rejyon Trakonit; Lizanyas te chèf nan Labilèn.
2 in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas [Rock that hollows itself out], ha D'var Elohim · the Word of God· came to John [Yah is gracious], the son of Zacharias [Remembered by Yah], in the wilderness.
3 He came into all the region around the Jordan [Descender], preaching the baptism of teshuvah ·complete repentance· for remission of sins.
Jan mache nan tout peyi bò larivyè Jouden an; li t'ap bay mesaj sa a: Tounen vin jwenn Bondye. vin resevwa batèm: Bondye va padonnen peche nou yo.
4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah [Salvation of Yah] the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of MarYah [Master Yahweh]. Make his paths straight.
Plani chemen an byen plani pou li.
5 Every valley will be filled. Every mountain and hill will be brought low. The crooked will become straight, and the rough ways smooth.
Tout fon gen pou konble. Tout gwo mòn, tout ti mòn gen pou vin plat. Kote ki gen detou gen pou vin dwat. Chemen ki an movèz eta gen pou vin bèl.
6 Then all humanity will see God’s method of deliverance.’”
Tout moun va wè jan Bondye ap delivre nou an.
7 He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Moun t'ap vin an foul bò kote Jan pou l' te batize yo. Lè konsa li di yo: Bann vèmen! Ki moun ki fè nou konnen nou kapab chape anba kòlè Bondye k'ap vini an?
8 Therefore produce fruits worthy of teshuvah ·complete repentance·, and don’t begin to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham [Father of a multitude] Avinu ·our Father·;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham [Father of a multitude] from these stones!
Fè bagay ki pou fè wè nou chanje lavi nou tout bon. Sispann di nan kè nou: Se pitit pitit Abraram nou ye!
9 Even now the ax also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not produce good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.”
Epitou, rach la tou pare pou koupe rasin pyebwa yo.
10 The multitudes asked him, “What then must we do?”
Foul moun yo mande l' konsa: Kisa pou nou fè menm?
11 He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.”
12 Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what must we do?”
Kèk pèseptè kontribisyon te vini tou pou l' te batize yo. Yo mande Jan: Mèt, kisa pou nou fè?
13 He said to them, “Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.”
Li reponn yo: Pa fè moun peye plis pase sa lalwa mande a.
14 Soldiers also asked him, saying, “What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.”
Kèk sòlda tou mande li: E nou menm, kisa pou nou fè? Li reponn yo: Pa fè brital ak pesonn. Pa fè manti sou pesonn pou pran lajan nan men yo. Fè kè nou kontan ak sa yo peye nou an.
15 As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John [Yah is gracious], whether perhaps he was the Messiah [Anointed one],
Pèp la t'ap tann konsa: yo t'ap mande nan kè yo si se pa Jan ki Kris la.
16 John [Yah is gracious] answered them all, “I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in Ruach haKodesh [Spirit of the Holiness] and fire,
17 whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
Laye l' nan men li, l'ap vannen tout grenn ki sou glasi a. La ranmase grenn ki bon yo, la mete yo nan galata li. Men, l'ap boule pay la nan yon dife ki p'ap janm mouri.
18 Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,
Se avèk anpil lòt pawòl konsa Jan t'ap ba yo konsèy, li t'ap anonse bon nouvèl la bay pèp la.
19 but Herod [Heroic] the tetrarch (one of four co-emperors), being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod [Heroic] had done,
Men, Jan te fè chèf Ewòd repwòch poutèt Ewodyad, madanm frè li a, li te pran pou madanm li, ak pou anpil lòt move zak li te fè.
20 added this also to them all, that he shut up John [Yah is gracious] in prison.
Le sa a, Ewòd mete ankò sou sa l' te fè deja: li fè fèmen Jan nan prizon.
21 Now when all the people were baptized, Yeshua [Salvation] also had been baptized, and was praying. The sky was opened,
Lè Jan te fin batize tout moun, li batize Jezi tou. Antan Jezi t'ap lapriyè, syèl la louvri.
22 and Ruach haKodesh [Spirit of the Holiness] descended in a bodily form like a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my agapetos ·beloved, esteemed· Son. In you I am well pleased.”
Sentespri a desann sou li an fòm yon ti pijon.
