Matthew 13
1 The same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the shore of the lake;
Ce jour-là Jésus, après être sorti de la maison, se tenait assis près de la mer,
2 and great multitudes were gathered together to him, so that he went into a boat, and sat down; and all the multitude stood on the beach.
et une foule nombreuse se rassembla auprès de lui, en sorte qu'étant monté sur une barque il s'y assit, et toute la foule se tenait debout sur le rivage.
3 And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow.
Et il leur parla de beaucoup de choses sous forme de paraboles, en disant:
4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
« Voici, le semeur sortit pour semer, et pendant qu'il semait, une partie tomba le long du chemin, et les oiseaux étant venus la mangèrent toute.
5 And others fell upon rocky places, where they had not much earth; and they sprung up immediately, because they had no depth of earth.
Mais une autre partie tomba sur les endroits rocailleux où elle n'avait pas beaucoup de terre, et aussitôt elle leva parce qu'elle n'avait pas un sol profond;
6 But when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
mais, le soleil s'étant levé, elle fut brûlée, et, comme elle n'avait pas de racine, elle sécha.
7 And others fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up, and choked them.
Mais une autre partie tomba sur les épines, et les épines montèrent et l'étouffèrent.
8 And others fell upon good ground; and yielded fruit, some a hundred fold, some Sixty, some thirty fold.
Mais une autre partie tomba sur la bonne terre, et elle donnait du fruit à raison de cent, et de soixante, et de trente pour un.
9 He that hath ears, let him hear.
Que celui qui a des oreilles entende! »
10 And the disciples came and said to him, Why dost thou speak to them in parables?
Et les disciples s'étant approchés lui dirent: « Pourquoi leur parles-tu en paraboles? »
11 He answered and said, Because to you it hath been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but to them it hath not been given.
Mais il leur répliqua: « C'est qu'il vous a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume des cieux, tandis qu'à eux cela ne leur a pas été donné.
12 For whoever hath, to him will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever hath not, from him will be taken away even what he hath.
Car quiconque a, il lui sera donné et il regorgera; mais quiconque n'a pas, même ce qu'il a lui sera enlevé.
13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, nor understand.
Voici pourquoi je leur parle en paraboles; c'est qu'en voyant ils ne voient pas, et qu'en entendant ils n'entendent ni ne comprennent;
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, “Ye will hear indeed, and not understand; and ye will see indeed, and not perceive.
et c'est pour eux que s'accomplit la prophétie d'Ésaïe, qui dit: Oyez par l'ouïe, et vous ne comprendrez certainement pas; et en voyant vous verrez et vous n'apercevrez certainement pas:
15 For this people's heart hath become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn from their ways, and I should heal them.”
car le cœur de ce peuple s'est épaissi, et ils ont difficilement ouï avec les oreilles, et ils ont fermé leurs yeux, de peur qu'ils ne voient avec les yeux, et qu'ils n'entendent avec les oreilles, et qu'ils ne comprennent avec le cœur, et qu'ils ne se convertissent; et Je les guérirai.
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.
Mais pour vous, vos yeux sont heureux parce qu'ils voient, et vos oreilles, parce qu'elles entendent.
17 Truly do I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which ye see, and did not see them; and to hear the things which ye hear, and did not hear them.
Car en vérité je vous déclare que beaucoup de prophètes et de justes ont désiré voir ce que vous voyez et ne l'ont pas vu, et entendre ce que vous entendez et ne l'ont pas entendu.
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
Pour vous donc, écoutez la parabole du semeur:
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, the Evil One cometh, and snatcheth away that which was sown in his heart; this man is what was sown by the wayside.
Quiconque entend la parole du royaume et ne la comprend pas, le malin survient et enlève ce qui a été semé dans son cœur; c'est celui qui a été semé le long du chemin.
20 And what was sown on the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy,
Quant à celui qui a été semé sur les endroits rocailleux, c'est celui qui entend la parole et la reçoit aussitôt avec joie;
21 but, having no root within him, endureth only for a time; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth on account of the word, he immediately falleth away.
mais il n'a pas de racine en lui-même, au contraire il est sans persistance, et s'il survient une tribulation ou une persécution à cause de la parole, il trébuche aussitôt.
22 And what was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
Quant à celui qui a été semé dans les épines, c'est celui qui entend la parole, et les soucis du siècle et le faux attrait de la richesse se réunissent pour étouffer la parole et elle devient stérile. (aiōn g165)
23 And what was sown on the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who also beareth fruit, and yieldeth, one a hundred fold, another sixty, another thirty fold.
Mais celui qui a été semé sur la bonne terre, c'est celui qui entend et comprend la parole; qui, par conséquent, donne du fruit et rapporte à raison de cent, de soixante et de trente pour un. »
24 Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
Il leur proposa une autre parabole en disant: « Le royaume des cieux ressemble à un homme qui a semé une bonne semence dans son champ;
25 But while men slept, his enemy came, and sowed tares among the wheat; and went away.
mais, pendant que les gens dormaient, son ennemi est venu, et il a encore semé de l'ivraie parmi le blé, et il s'en est allé.
26 But when the blade grew up, and put forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
Or, quand l'herbe eut poussé et fructifié, alors apparut aussi l'ivraie.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? Whence then hath it tares?
Mais les esclaves du chef de famille étant venus lui dirent: « Seigneur, n'est-ce pas une bonne semence que tu as semée dans ton champ? D'où vient donc qu'il a de l'ivraie? »
28 He said to them, An enemy did this. The servants say to him, Dost thou wish then that we go and gather them up?
Mais il leur dit: « C'est un ennemi qui a fait cela. » Sur quoi ils lui disent: « Veux-tu donc que nous allions la cueillir? »
29 But he said, Nay; lest, while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them.
Mais il dit: « Non, de peur qu'en cueillant l'ivraie vous n'arrachiez le blé avec elle;
30 Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles, to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.
laissez-les l'un et l'autre croître ensemble jusqu'à la moisson; et au moment de la moisson je dirai aux moissonneurs: Cueillez premièrement l'ivraie et la liez en gerbes pour la brûler toute, mais, quant au blé, serrez-le dans mon grenier. »
31 Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard, which a man took and sowed in his field.
Il leur proposa une autre parabole en disant: « Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un grain de moutarde, qu'un homme a pris et semé dans son champ;
32 Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.
cette semence est, il est vrai, plus petite que toutes les autres, mais quand elle a crû, elle est plus grande que les plantes potagères et elle devient un arbre, en sorte que les oiseaux du ciel viennent s'abriter dans ses branches. »
33 Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
Il leur dit une autre parabole: « Le royaume des cieux est semblable à du levain qu'une femme a pris et pétri dans trois mesures de farine, jusques à ce que le tout fût levé. »
34 All these things Jesus spoke to the multitudes in parables, and without a parable he spoke nothing to them;
Jésus dit toutes ces choses en paraboles à la foule, et il ne leur disait rien sans parabole; —
35 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet Isaiah, saying, “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation [[of the world]].”
afin que fût accompli ce dont il a été parlé par l'entremise du prophète lorsqu'il dit: « J'ouvrirai ma bouche par des paraboles, je proférerai des choses cachées dès la création. »
36 Then he sent the multitudes away, and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.
Alors ayant congédié la foule, il entra dans la maison, et ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui en disant: « Éclaircis-nous la parabole de l'ivraie du champ. »
37 He answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man.
Or il répliqua: « Celui qui sème la bonne semence, c'est le fils de l'homme;
38 The field is the world; the good seed is the sons of the kingdom; but the tares are the sons of the Evil One;
le champ, c'est le monde; la bonne semence, ce sont les fils du royaume; l'ivraie, ce sont les fils du malin;
39 the enemy that sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. (aiōn g165)
l'ennemi, c'est le diable qui l'a semée; la moisson, c'est la consommation du temps, et les moissonneurs, ce sont les anges. (aiōn g165)
40 As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the world. (aiōn g165)
De même donc que l'on cueille l'ivraie et qu'on la brûle toute dans le feu, de même en sera-t-il lors de la consommation du temps; (aiōn g165)
41 The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those who do iniquity,
le fils de l'homme enverra ses anges, et ils recueilleront, pour les ôter de son royaume, tous les scandales et ceux qui commettent l'iniquité,
42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise du feu; c'est là que sera le pleur et le grincement des dents.
43 Then will the righteous shine forth as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.
Alors les justes resplendiront comme le soleil dans le royaume de leur Père. Que celui qui a des oreilles entende!
44 The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hid in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy thereof he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
« Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un trésor caché dans le champ, qu'un homme, après l'avoir trouvé, a caché, et dans sa joie il s'en va, et vend tout ce qu'il possède et achète ce champ-là.
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking goodly pearls.
Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un marchand qui cherche de belles perles;
46 And having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
or, ayant trouvé une perle de grand prix, il est allé vendre tout ce qu'il possédait, et il l'a achetée.
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, cast into the sea, and bringing together fish of every kind;
Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un filet jeté dans la mer, et qui a ramené des poissons de toute espèce;
48 which, when it was full, they drew upon the beach, and sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.
lorsqu'il a été rempli, après l'avoir tiré sur le rivage, et s'être assis, on a recueilli les bons dans des vases, et on a jeté dehors les pourris.
49 So will it be at the end of the world. The angels will come forth, and separate the wicked from among the righteous, (aiōn g165)
Il en sera de même lors de la consommation du temps; les anges sortiront et sépareront les méchants du milieu des justes, (aiōn g165)
50 and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise du feu; c'est là que sera le pleur et le grincement des dents.
51 Did ye understand all these things? They say to him, Yea.
Avez-vous compris toutes ces choses? » Ils lui dirent: « Oui. »
52 And he said to them, Thus then every scribe, instructed for the kingdom of heaven, is like a householder, who bringeth out from his storehouse things new and old.
Et lui leur dit: « C'est pour cela que tout scribe qui a été instruit pour le royaume des cieux est semblable à un chef de famille, qui tire de son trésor du neuf et du vieux. »
53 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these parables, that he departed thence.
Et il advint, lorsque Jésus eut terminé ces paraboles, qu'il s'éloigna de là,
54 And having come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and the miracles?
et s'étant rendu dans sa patrie, il les enseignait dans leur synagogue, en sorte qu'ils étaient stupéfaits, et qu'ils disaient: « D'où viennent à celui-ci cette sagesse et ces miracles?
55 Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?
Celui-ci n'est-il pas le fils du charpentier? Est-ce que sa mère ne s'appelle pas Marie, et ses frères, Jacques et Joseph et Simon et Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
Et ses sœurs ne vivent-elles pas toutes parmi nous? D'où lui viennent donc toutes ces choses? »
57 And they took offence at him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house.
Et il était pour eux une pierre d'achoppement. Mais Jésus leur dit: « Ce n'est que dans sa patrie et dans sa famille, qu'un prophète est méprisé. »
58 And he did not work many miracles there, because of their unbelief.
Et il ne fit pas là beaucoup de miracles, à cause de leur incrédulité.
