Luke 22
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the passover, was drawing near;
Or, la fête des pains sans levain, qu'on appelle la Pâque, approchait.
2 and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
Les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes cherchaient comment ils pourraient le faire mourir, car ils craignaient le peuple.
3 And Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.
Satan entra dans Judas, appelé aussi Iscariote, qui était compté parmi les douze.
4 And he went away, and consulted with the chief priests and captains, how he might deliver him up to them.
Il s'en alla, et s'entretint avec les principaux sacrificateurs et les chefs militaires sur la manière dont il pourrait le leur livrer.
5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
Ils furent heureux, et convinrent de lui donner de l'argent.
6 And he agreed with them, and sought a good opportunity to deliver him up to them in the absence of the multitude.
Il y consentit et chercha une occasion de le leur livrer en l'absence de la foule.
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed;
Le jour des pains sans levain arriva, où l'on devait sacrifier la Pâque.
8 and he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the passover, that we may eat it.
Jésus envoya Pierre et Jean, en disant: « Allez nous préparer la Pâque, afin que nous la mangions. »
9 And they said to him, Where wilt thou that we make it ready?
Ils lui dirent: « Où veux-tu que nous nous préparions? »
10 And he said to them, Lo! when ye have entered the city, there will meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goeth in;
Il leur dit: « Voici, quand vous serez entrés dans la ville, un homme portant une cruche d'eau viendra à votre rencontre. Suivez-le dans la maison où il entrera.
11 and ye shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher saith to thee, Where is the guest-chamber, where I may eat the passover with my disciples?
Dites au maître de la maison: « Le maître te dit: Où est la chambre d'amis où je pourrai manger la Pâque avec mes disciples? »
12 And he will show you a large upper room furnished; there make ready.
Il te montrera une grande chambre haute meublée. Fais-y tes préparatifs. »
13 And they went and found as he had said to them; and they made ready the passover.
Ils partirent, trouvèrent les choses comme Jésus le leur avait dit, et ils préparèrent la Pâque.
14 And when the hour had come, he placed himself at table, and the apostles with him.
Lorsque l'heure fut venue, il s'assit avec les douze apôtres.
15 And he said to them, Earnestly have I desired to eat this passover with you, before I suffer.
Il leur dit: « J'ai vivement désiré manger cette Pâque avec vous avant de souffrir,
16 For I say to you, that I shall eat it no more, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
car, je vous le dis, je n'en mangerai plus jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit accomplie dans le Royaume de Dieu. »
17 And he took a cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves.
Il reçut une coupe, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il dit: « Prenez ceci et partagez-le entre vous,
18 For I say to you, that I shall not drink henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall have come.
car, je vous le dis, je ne boirai plus du tout du fruit de la vigne, jusqu'à ce que le Royaume de Dieu soit accompli. »
19 And he took a loaf, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, This is my body, which is given for you; this do in remembrance of me.
Il prit du pain, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit et le leur donna, en disant: « Ceci est mon corps, qui est donné pour vous. Faites ceci en mémoire de moi. »
20 And in like manner he took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is about to be shed for you.
De même, après le repas, il prit la coupe, en disant: « Cette coupe est la nouvelle alliance en mon sang, qui est répandu pour vous.
21 But lo! the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
Mais voici, la main de celui qui me livre est avec moi sur la table.
22 For the Son of man indeed goeth away, as it hath been determined; but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed.
Le Fils de l'homme s'en va, en effet, comme il a été décidé, mais malheur à l'homme par qui il est livré! »
23 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that was about to do this.
Ils commencèrent à se demander entre eux lequel d'entre eux était celui qui ferait cette chose.
24 And there arose also a contention among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
Une dispute s'éleva aussi entre eux, pour savoir lequel d'entre eux était considéré comme le plus grand.
25 And he said to them, The kings of the nations rule as lords over them, and they who exercise authority over them are called benefactors.
Il leur dit: « Les rois des nations les dominent, et ceux qui ont autorité sur eux sont appelés « bienfaiteurs ».
26 But it is not to be so with you; but let the greatest among you be as the youngest; and he that is chief, as he that serveth.
Mais il n'en est pas de même pour vous. Au contraire, que celui qui est le plus grand parmi vous devienne comme le plus jeune, et celui qui gouverne, comme celui qui sert.
27 For which is greater? he who reclineth at the table, or he who serveth? Is not he that reclineth at the table? But I am in the midst of you as he who serveth.
Car qui est le plus grand, celui qui est assis à table, ou celui qui sert? N'est-ce pas celui qui est assis à la table? Mais moi, je suis au milieu de vous comme celui qui sert.
28 Ye however are they who have continued steadfastly with me in my trials.
« Mais vous, vous êtes ceux qui ont persévéré avec moi dans mes épreuves.
29 And I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father appointed to me;
Je vous confère un royaume, comme mon Père me l'a conféré,
30 that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
afin que vous mangiez et buviez à ma table dans mon Royaume. Vous serez assis sur des trônes, et vous jugerez les douze tribus d'Israël. »
31 Simon, Simon, lo! Satan hath asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.
Le Seigneur dit: « Simon, Simon, voici que Satan a demandé à vous avoir tous, afin de vous cribler comme le blé,
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not. And do thou, when thou hast returned to me, strengthen thy brethren.
mais j'ai prié pour toi, afin que ta foi ne défaille pas. Toi, quand tu te seras retourné, affermis tes frères. »
33 And he said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee both to prison and to death.
Il lui dit: « Seigneur, je suis prêt à aller avec toi en prison et à la mort! ».
34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, a cock will not crow this day, till thou hast thrice denied that thou knowest me.
Il dit: « Je te le dis, Pierre, le coq ne chantera pas aujourd'hui avant que tu n'aies renié trois fois que tu me connais. »
35 And he said to them, When I sent you without purse, or bag, or sandals, were ye in need of anything? And they said, Of nothing. Then he said to them,
Il leur dit: « Quand je vous ai envoyés sans bourse, sans sac et sans sandales, avez-vous manqué de quelque chose? ». Ils ont dit: « Rien. »
36 But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a bag; and he that hath not, let him sell his garment, and buy a sword.
Puis il leur dit: « Maintenant, si quelqu'un a une bourse, qu'il la prenne, ainsi qu'un sac. Si quelqu'un n'en a pas, qu'il vende son manteau et achète une épée.
37 For I say to you, that this which is written must be accomplished in me: “And he was reckoned among transgressors.” For that which concerneth me also hath an end.
Car, je vous le dis, il faut encore que s'accomplisse en moi ce qui est écrit: « Il a été compté parmi les transgresseurs ». Car ce qui me concerne s'accomplit. »
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said to him, It is enough!
Ils dirent: « Seigneur, voici deux épées. » Il leur a dit: « Ça suffit. »
39 And going out, he went, as he was wont, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him.
Il sortit et alla, selon sa coutume, sur la montagne des Oliviers. Ses disciples le suivirent aussi.
40 And when he was at the place, he said to them, Pray that ye may not enter into temptation.
Lorsqu'il fut arrivé à ce lieu, il leur dit: « Priez pour ne pas entrer en tentation. »
41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw; and kneeling down he prayed,
Il se retira d'eux à environ un jet de pierre, et, s'étant mis à genoux, il pria,
42 saying, Father, if thou art willing to remove this cup from me—yet not my will, but thine be done!
en disant: « Père, si tu le veux, éloigne de moi cette coupe. Cependant, que ce ne soit pas ma volonté qui se fasse, mais la tienne. »
43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.
Un ange du ciel lui apparut, et le fortifia.
44 And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly. And his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling to the ground.
Étant à l'agonie, il priait avec plus d'ardeur. Sa sueur devint comme de grosses gouttes de sang qui tombaient sur le sol.
45 And rising up from prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow,
S'étant levé après avoir prié, il vint vers les disciples et les trouva endormis à cause de la tristesse,
46 and said to them, Why sleep ye? Rise, and pray that ye may not enter into temptation.
et il leur dit: « Pourquoi dormez-vous? Levez-vous et priez afin de ne pas entrer en tentation. »
47 While he was yet speaking, lo! a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, was at the head of them; and he drew near to Jesus to kiss him.
Comme il parlait encore, une foule apparut. Celui qu'on appelait Judas, l'un des douze, était à leur tête. Il s'approcha de Jésus pour le baiser.
48 But Jesus said to him, Judas, dost thou betray the Son of man with a kiss?
Mais Jésus lui dit: « Judas, est-ce par un baiser que tu trahis le Fils de l'homme? »
49 And they who were about him, seeing what would follow, said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
Ceux qui étaient autour de lui, voyant ce qui allait se passer, lui dirent: « Seigneur, devons-nous frapper par l'épée? »
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high-priest, and cut off his right ear.
Un certain nombre d'entre eux frappèrent le serviteur du grand prêtre, et lui coupèrent l'oreille droite.
51 But Jesus answering said, Permit thus far; and touched his ear, and healed him.
Mais Jésus répondit: « Laissez-moi au moins faire ceci. » Il toucha son oreille et le guérit.
52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders who had come to him, Ye have come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs;
Jésus dit aux principaux sacrificateurs, aux chefs du temple et aux anciens, qui étaient venus contre lui: « Vous êtes sortis comme contre un brigand, avec des épées et des bâtons?
53 when I was daily with you in the temple, ye did not put forth your hands against me; but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
Lorsque j'étais chaque jour avec vous dans le temple, vous ne portiez pas la main sur moi. Mais voici votre heure, et la puissance des ténèbres. »
54 And they seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the house of the high-priest. And Peter followed afar off.
Ils se saisirent de lui, l'emmenèrent, et le conduisirent dans la maison du grand prêtre. Mais Pierre suivait à distance.
55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat down among them.
Lorsqu'ils eurent allumé un feu au milieu de la cour et se furent assis ensemble, Pierre s'assit au milieu d'eux.
56 But a certain maid-servant saw him sitting at the fire, and steadily looking at him said, This man also was with him.
Une servante le vit comme il était assis dans la lumière, et, le regardant attentivement, elle dit: « Cet homme aussi était avec lui. »
57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I do not know him.
Il a renié Jésus, disant: « Femme, je ne le connais pas. »
58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art one of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
Un peu plus tard, quelqu'un d'autre le vit et dit: « Toi aussi, tu es l'un d'entre eux! » Mais Pierre répondit: « Homme, je ne le suis pas! »
59 And in about one hour's time, another confidently affirmed, saying, In truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilaean.
Après qu'une heure environ se soit écoulée, un autre affirma avec assurance: « En vérité, cet homme aussi était avec lui, car il est Galiléen! »
60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he was yet speaking, a cock crew.
Mais Pierre dit: « Mon gars, je ne sais pas de quoi tu parles! » Aussitôt, alors qu'il parlait encore, un coq chanta.
61 And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, that he had said to him, Before a cock crows this day, thou wilt thrice deny me.
Le Seigneur se retourna et regarda Pierre. Pierre se souvint alors de la parole du Seigneur, qui lui avait dit: « Avant que le coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois. »
62 And he went out, and wept bitterly.
Il sortit, et pleura amèrement.
63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and beat him;
Les hommes qui tenaient Jésus se moquaient de lui et le battaient.
64 and having blindfolded him, they asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck thee?
Lui ayant bandé les yeux, ils le frappèrent au visage et lui demandèrent: « Prophétise! Qui est celui qui t'a frappé? »
65 And many other things did they scoffingly say against him.
Ils dirent encore beaucoup d'autres choses contre lui, en l'insultant.
66 And when it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together, and brought him before their council, saying,
Dès que le jour fut venu, l'assemblée des anciens du peuple se rassembla, les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes, et ils l'emmenèrent dans leur conseil, en disant:
67 If thou art the Christ, tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, ye will not believe;
« Si tu es le Christ, dis-le nous. » Mais il leur dit: « Si je vous le dis, vous ne croirez pas,
68 and if I ask, ye will not answer.
et si je vous interroge, vous ne me répondrez pas et ne me laisserez pas partir.
69 But from this time the Son of man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.
Désormais, le Fils de l'homme sera assis à la droite de la puissance de Dieu. »
70 Then they all said, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said to them, Ye say what is true; for I am.
Ils dirent tous: « Es-tu donc le Fils de Dieu? » Il leur a dit: « Vous le dites, parce que je le suis. »
71 And they said, What further need have we of testimony? For we have ourselves heard from his own mouth.
Ils dirent: « Pourquoi aurions-nous besoin d'un autre témoignage? Car nous avons nous-mêmes entendu de sa propre bouche! »
