Colossians 2
1 For I would have you know what a great struggle I have for you, and for those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
car je veux que vous sachiez quelle grande lutte je soutiens pour vous, et ceux de Laodicée, et tous ceux qui n'ont pas vu mon visage en la chair,
2 that their hearts may be encouraged, they being knit together in love, and that they may attain to all the riches of a full assurance of the understanding, to the full knowledge of the mystery of God;
afin que leurs cœurs soient consolés, étant fortement unis dans la charité, et mis en possession de toutes les richesses de la certitude de l'intelligence, afin de connaître le mystère du Dieu de Christ,
3 in which are stored up all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
dans lequel sont cachés tous les trésors de la sagesse et de la connaissance.
4 And this I say, that no one may impose on you by specious discourses.
Je parle ainsi afin que personne ne vous égare par de beaux discours;
5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet in the spirit I am with you, rejoicing and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
car, tout en étant encore absent quant à la chair, je suis néanmoins avec vous par l'esprit, me réjouissant à la vue de votre bon ordre et de la solidité de votre foi en Christ.
6 As therefore ye have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him,
Ainsi donc, conformément à la manière dont vous avez reçu Christ Jésus le seigneur, conduisez-vous comme étant unis à lui,
7 rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
enracinés et édifiés en lui, et affermis par la foi selon l'enseignement que vous avez reçu, la possédant en abondance avec des actions de grâces.
8 Beware lest there be some one who shall make a prey of you through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the rudiments of the world, and not according to Christ.
Prenez garde qu'il n'y ait personne qui fasse de vous sa proie par le moyen de la philosophie et d'une vaine erreur, selon la tradition des hommes, selon les rudiments du monde, et non selon Christ,
9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,
car c'est en lui qu'habite corporellement toute la plénitude de la Divinité,
10 and ye are made full in him, who is the head of all principality and power;
et vous êtes par lui pleinement remplis, lui qui est le chef de toute domination et de toute autorité,
11 in whom also ye have been circumcised with a circumcision not performed by hand, in putting off the body of the flesh in the circumcision of Christ,
lui, en qui aussi vous avez été circoncis par une circoncision qui n'a pas été faite manuellement, par le dépouillement du corps de la chair, par la circoncision de Christ,
12 having been buried with him in your baptism; in which also ye were raised to life with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead;
ayant été ensevelis avec lui dans le baptême; c'est encore en lui, et avec lui, que vous êtes ressuscités par la foi en la puissance de Dieu qui l'a ressuscité des morts,
13 and to you also who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he given life together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses;
ainsi que vous, qui étiez morts par vos fautes et par l'incirconcision de votre chair. Il nous a vivifiés avec lui, en nous faisant grâce pour toutes nos fautes,
14 blotting out the handwriting in ordinances that was against us, which was opposed to us, he hath taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross;
après avoir effacé l'obligation qui nous rendait débiteurs des commandements, laquelle subsistait contre nous, et Il l'a fait disparaître en la clouant à la croix,
15 and having disarmed principalities and powers, he made a public show of them, and led them captive in triumph in him.
après avoir dépouillé les dominations et les autorités; et Il les a données en spectacle en triomphant ouvertement d'elles par ce moyen.
16 Let no one then call you to account about food or drink, or a feast-day, or a new moon, or sabbaths;
Que personne donc ne vous juge en ce qui concerne le manger et le boire, ou au sujet d'une fête, ou d'une néoménie, ou d'un sabbat,
17 which are a shadow of the things to come, but the body is Christ's.
ce qui est une ombre des choses futures, tandis que le corps est à Christ.
18 Let no one defraud you of the prize, desiring to do it in humiliation and worshipping of the angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, puffed up without reason by the mind of his own flesh,
Que personne ne vous frustre à son gré du prix, au nom de l'humilité et du culte des anges, tandis que, se livrant à ses visions, il est enflé d'un vain orgueil par ses dispositions charnelles,
19 and not holding fast the Head, from which the whole body, supported and compacted by means of the joints and ligaments, groweth with an increase wrought by God.
et ne s'attache pas au chef, duquel tout le corps, rendu bien compact par l'assistance des nerfs et des muscles, tire l'accroissement que Dieu donne.
20 If ye died with Christ to the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances, such as,
Si vous êtes morts avec Christ aux rudiments du monde, pourquoi, comme si vous viviez encore dans le monde, vous impose-t-on les prescriptions suivantes:
21 Handle not, Taste not, Touch not,
« Ne prends point, ne goûte point, ne touche point, »
22 (which all are to perish with the using, ) after the commandments and teachings of men;
lesquelles tendent toutes à corrompre, quand on les pratique selon les commandements et les enseignements humains,
23 which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will-worship and humiliation and severity to the body, not in any honor for the satisfying of the flesh.
qui, possédant, il est vrai, un renom de sagesse, en raison d'un culte arbitraire et d'une humilité dus au mépris du corps, non en raison d'aucun mérite, ne servent qu'à satisfaire la chair?
