Jeremiah 22

1 Thus said the LORD: "Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

Yavé dijo: Baja a la casa del rey de Judá y habla allí estas Palabras:

2 Say, 'Hear the word of the LORD, king of Judah, who sits on the throne of David, you, and your servants, and your people who enter in by these gates.

Oye la Palabra de Yavé, oh rey de Judá, que te sientas sobre el trono de David, tú, tus esclavos y tu pueblo que entra por estas puertas.

3 Thus says the LORD: "Execute justice and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence, to the foreigner, the fatherless, nor the widow; neither shed innocent blood in this place.

Yavé dice: Hagan lo recto y lo justo. Libren al oprimido de mano del opresor. No maltraten ni traten con violencia al extranjero, al huérfano, ni a la viuda, ni derramen sangre inocente en este lugar.

4 For if you do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

Porque si realmente obedecen esta Palabra, entonces los reyes que se sentarán en el trono en lugar de David entrarán por las puertas de esta casa. Ellos, sus esclavos y su pueblo entrarán montados en carrozas y caballos.

5 But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself, says the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation."

Pero si no escuchan estas Palabras, por Mí mismo juré, dice Yavé, que esta casa será desolada.

6 For thus says the LORD concerning the house of the king of Judah: "You are Gilead to me, the head of Lebanon. Yet surely I will make you a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.

Porque Yavé dice esto con respecto a la casa del rey de Judá: Eres para Mí como Galaad, como la cumbre del Líbano. Pero te convertiré en una desolación y en ciudades no habitadas.

7 I will prepare destroyers against you, everyone with his weapons; and they shall cut down your choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

Designé contra ti destructores, cada uno con sus armas, quienes talarán tus cedros más selectos y los echarán al fuego.

8 Many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbor, 'Why has the LORD done thus to this great city?'

Entonces muchas gentes pasarán junto a esta ciudad. Cada uno dirá a su compañero: ¿Por qué Yavé obró así con esta gran ciudad?

9 Then they shall answer, 'Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshiped other gods, and served them.'

Y responderán: Porque abandonaron el Pacto de Yavé su ʼElohim, se postraron ante ʼelohim extraños y les sirvieron.

10 Do not weep for the dead, neither bemoan him; but weep bitterly for him who goes away; for he shall return no more, nor see his native country."

No lloren por un muerto, ni se lamenten por él. Lloren con amargura por el que se va, porque no regresará jamás ni verá la tierra donde nació.

11 For thus says the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went forth out of this place: "He shall not return there any more.

Porque con respecto a Salum, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, quien reinó en lugar de su padre Josías y salió de este lugar, Yavé dice: Ya no regresará aquí.

12 But in the place where they have led him captive, there shall he die, and he shall see this land no more."

Morirá en el lugar adonde lo llevaron cautivo, y ya no verá esta tierra.

13 Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his rooms by injustice; who uses his neighbor's service without wages, and doesn't give him his hire;

¡Ay del que edifica su casa con injusticia y sus habitaciones sin equidad, que se sirve gratuitamente de su prójimo y no le paga el salario por su trabajo!

14 who says, "I will build me a wide house and spacious rooms," and cuts him out windows; and it is ceiling with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

Que dice: Me edificaré una casa espaciosa con amplios salones. Le abriré ventanas. La cubriré de cedro y la pintaré de rojo vivo.

15 Shall you reign, because you strive to excel in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.

¿Reinarás porque te rodeas de cedro? Si tu antepasado comió, bebió y salió bien, se debió a que practicó el juicio recto y la justicia.

16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Wasn't this to know me?' says the LORD.

Él defendió la causa del afligido y menesteroso. Por eso hizo bien. ¿No es eso lo que significa conocerme a Mí? dice Yavé.

17 "But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it."

Pero tus ojos y tu corazón no están fijados sino en tus ganancias deshonestas, en derramar la sangre inocente, en la opresión y la ofensa.

18 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: "they shall not lament for him, saying, 'Alas my brother. or, Alas sister.' They shall not lament for him, saying, 'Alas lord.' or, 'Alas his majesty.'

Por tanto Yavé dice esto con respecto a Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá: No lo lamentarán: ¡Ay hermano mío! ¡Ay hermana mía! Ni lo lamentarán: ¡Ay ʼadon! ¡Ay su majestad!

19 He shall be buried with the burial of a donkey, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

Será enterrado como un asno. Lo arrastrarán y lo tirarán fuera de las puertas de Jerusalén.

20 Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up your voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim; for all your lovers are destroyed.

Sube al Líbano y clama. Eleva tu voz en Basán. Clama también desde la [montaña] Abarim, porque todos sus amantes fueron destruidos.

21 I spoke to you in your prosperity; but you said, 'I will not hear.' This has been your way from your youth, that you did not obey my voice.

En tu gran prosperidad te hablé. Pero dijiste: No escucharé. Éste fue tu camino desde tu juventud. Nunca escuchaste mi voz.

22 The wind shall feed all your shepherds, and your lovers shall go into captivity: surely then you will be ashamed and confounded for all your wickedness.

El viento apacentará a todos tus pastores, y tus amantes irán al cautiverio. Ciertamente serás avergonzada y confundida por todas tus perversidades.

23 Inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes your nest in the cedars, how greatly you will groan when pangs come on you, the pain as of a woman in travail.

Habitaste en el Líbano. Hiciste tu nido en los cedros. ¡Cómo gemirás cuando te lleguen las angustias, los dolores como de parturienta!

24 As I live," says the LORD, "though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet on my right hand, yet would I pluck you there;

Yavé dice: ¡Vivo Yo! que aunque Conías, hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, fuera anillo de sellar en mi mano derecha, aun de allí lo sacaría.

25 and I will give you into the hand of those who seek your life, and into the hand of them of whom you are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

Te entregaré en mano de los que buscan tu vida, de aquellos a quienes tú temes, de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y de los caldeos.

26 I will cast you out, and your mother who bore you, into another country, where you were not born; and there you will die.

A ti y a tu madre que te dio a luz los lanzaré a un país extraño donde no nacieron. Allí morirán.

27 But to the land whereunto their soul longs to return, there shall they not return."

No regresarán a la tierra a la cual con toda el alma ansían regresar.

28 Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which none delights? Why are they cast out, he and his descendants, and cast into a land that they do not know?

¿Es este hombre Conías una vasija despreciada y quebrada? ¿Es un trasto que nadie estima? ¿Por qué él y su generación fueron sacados y echados a una tierra que no conocieron?

29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

¡Tierra, tierra, tierra! Oye la Palabra de Yavé.

30 Thus says the LORD, "Write this man down childless, a man who will not succeed in his days; for none of his descendants will succeed in sitting on the throne of David, and ruling in Judah.

Yavé dice: Inscriban a este hombre como uno privado de descendencia. Porque ninguno de su descendencia se sentará en el trono de David para reinar en Judá.
