Exodus 2
1 A man of the house of Levi went and took a daughter of Levi as his wife.
Un varón del linaje de Leví tomó como esposa a una hija de Leví.
2 The woman conceived, and bore a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months.
La esposa concibió y dio a luz un hijo. Al ver que era hermoso lo escondió tres meses.
3 When she could no longer hide him, she took a papyrus box for him and coated it with bitumen and with pitch. And she put the child in it and put it among the rushes by the bank of the river.
Pero cuando no pudo ocultarlo más tiempo, tomó una cesta de juncos, la calafateó con asfalto y brea, acostó al niño en ella y la ubicó en el juncal a la orilla del Nilo.
4 And his sister stood at a distance, to see what would be done to him.
Su hermana se colocó a lo lejos para ver qué le sucedería.
5 Pharaoh's daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the box among the rushes, and sent her handmaid to get it.
Entonces la hija de Faraón bajó al Nilo para bañarse. Mientras sus doncellas caminaban junto al Nilo, ella vio la cesta entre los juncos y envió a su esclava a recogerla.
6 She opened it, and saw the child, and look, the baby cried. And she had compassion on him, and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children."
Cuando la abrió ahí estaba el niño llorando. Tuvo compasión de él y dijo: ¡Éste es uno de los niños de los hebreos!
7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, "Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?"
Entonces la hermana [de Moisés] le dijo a la hija de Faraón: ¿Quiere usted que llame a una madre de crianza de las hebreas para que le amamante este niño?
8 Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Go." The maiden went and called the child's mother.
Y la hija de Faraón le respondió: Vé. Entonces la muchacha fue y llamó a la madre del niño.
9 Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages." The woman took the child, and nursed it.
La hija de Faraón le dijo: Lleva a este niño, amamántamelo y yo te pagaré tu salario. Así que la mujer tomó al niño y lo amamantó.
10 The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, and said, "Because I drew him out of the water."
El niño creció. Ella lo llevó a la hija de Faraón y fue hijo de ésta. Lo llamó Moisés: Porque lo saqué del agua.
11 It happened in those days, when Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brothers, and looked at their burdens. He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers.
Sucedió en aquellos días cuando Moisés creció que salió a ver a sus hermanos y observó sus duros trabajos. Vio a un egipcio que azotaba a uno de sus hermanos hebreos.
12 He looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no one, he killed the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
Él miró a uno y otro lado, y al ver que no estaba alguno, asesinó al egipcio y lo escondió en la arena.
13 He went out the second day, and look, two men of the Hebrews were fighting with each other. He said to him who did the wrong, "Why do you strike your fellow?"
Al día siguiente salió, y ahí estaban dos hebreos peleando. Dijo al agresor: ¿Por qué golpeas a tu prójimo?
14 He said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?" Moses was afraid, and said, "Surely this thing is known."
Él respondió: ¿Quién te designó como príncipe y juez sobre nosotros? ¿Piensas asesinarme como asesinaste al egipcio? Entonces Moisés tuvo temor y dijo: ¡Ciertamente el asunto fue conocido!
15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and lived in the land of Midian, and he sat down by a well.
Cuando Faraón oyó este asunto, procuró matar a Moisés. Pero Moisés huyó de la presencia de Faraón. Fue a la tierra de Madián y se sentó junto a un pozo.
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. They came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.
El sacerdote de Madián tenía siete hijas, las cuales llegaron a sacar agua para llenar las piletas a fin de dar de beber al rebaño de su padre.
17 The shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and drew water for them, and watered their flock.
Pero llegaron los pastores y las echaron. Entonces Moisés se levantó, las ayudó y abrevó el rebaño de ellas.
18 When they came to Reuel, their father, he said, "How is it that you have returned so early today?"
Cuando ellas regresaron a su padre Reuel, éste les preguntó: ¿Por qué vinieron tan pronto hoy?
19 They said, "An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover he drew water for us, and watered the flock."
Ellas respondieron: Un varón egipcio nos libró de mano de los pastores, y aun más, nos sacó el agua y abrevó el rebaño.
20 He said to his daughters, "Where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread."
Y dijo a sus hijas: ¿Dónde está él? ¿Por qué abandonaron a ese hombre? Llámenlo para que coma pan.
21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man. And he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter in marriage.
Moisés aceptó vivir con aquel hombre. Éste le dio a su hija Séfora como esposa.
22 She bore a son, and he named him Gershom, for he said, "I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign land."
Ella le dio a luz un hijo. Él lo llamó Gersón, pues dijo: Vine a ser forastero en tierra extraña.
23 It happened in the course of those many days, that the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.
Después de muchos días sucedió que murió el rey de Egipto. Los hijos de Israel gemían a causa de la esclavitud y clamaron. Por causa de [su] esclavitud, su clamor subió delante de ʼElohim.
24 God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
ʼElohim oyó su gemido y recordó su Pacto con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.
25 God saw the children of Israel, and God took notice.
ʼElohim miró a los hijos de Israel, y los reconoció.
