< Lamentations 5 >

1 Remember, LORD, what has come on us. Look, and see our disgrace.
‌ʻE Sihova, ke ke manatu ki he meʻa kuo hoko kiate kimautolu: tokanga pea ke ʻafio ki homau taukae.
2 Our inheritance is turned over to strangers, our houses to foreigners.
Kuo liliu homau tofiʻa ki he kau muli, ʻa homau ngaahi fale ki he ʻāuhē.
3 We are orphans and fatherless. Our mothers are like widows.
Ko e kau faʻē mate mo tamai mate ʻakimautolu, ko ʻemau ngaahi faʻē kuo hangē kuo mate ʻa honau ngaahi husepāniti.
4 We have to pay for a drink of water; our wood is sold to us.
Kuo mau inu vai ʻi he totongi paʻanga, ko ʻemau fefie ʻoku fakatau kiate kimautolu.
5 Our pursuers are on our necks; we are weary, and have no rest.
‌ʻOku māʻulalo ʻa homau kia ki he fakatanga: ʻoku mau ngāue pea ʻoku ʻikai ha mālōlō.
6 We have submitted to the Egyptians and to the Assyrians, to get enough bread.
Kuo mau fekuku nima mo e kau ʻIsipite, pea mo e kau ʻAsilia, ke mau mākona ʻi he mā.
7 Our fathers sinned, and are no more; but we have borne their iniquities.
Naʻe fai angahala ʻa ʻemau ngaahi tamai, pea ʻoku ʻikai, pea kuo mau fua ʻenau ngaahi hia.
8 Servants rule over us: There is none to deliver us out of their hand.
Kuo pule ʻae kau tamaioʻeiki kiate kimautolu, ʻoku ʻikai ha niʻihi ʻoku fakahaofi ʻakimautolu mei honau nima.
9 We get our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword in the wilderness.
Naʻa mau maʻu meʻakai ʻi he tuʻutāmaki ʻo ʻemau moʻui, koeʻuhi ko e heletā ʻi he toafa.
10 Our skin is hot like an oven, because of the burning heat of famine.
Naʻe ʻuliʻuli ʻa homau kili ʻo hangē ko e ngotoʻumu, ko e meʻa ʻi he honge fakamanavahē.
11 They raped the women in Zion, the virgins in the cities of Judah.
Naʻa nau tohotoho ʻae kau fefine ʻi Saione, ʻae kau tāupoʻou ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻo Siuta.
12 Princes were hung by their hands; elders were shown no respect.
‌ʻOku tautau ʻae ngaahi houʻeiki mei honau nima, naʻe ʻikai ke fakaʻapaʻapaʻi ʻae mata ʻoe kau mātuʻa.
13 The young men grind at the mill; the boys stagger under loads of wood.
Naʻa nau ʻave ʻae kau talavou ke momosi, pea naʻe tō hifo ʻae tamaiki ʻi he lalo ʻakau.
14 The elders have gone from the gate, the young men from their music.
Kuo ʻosi ʻae kau mātuʻa mei he matapā, ʻae kau talavou mei he fasi hiva.
15 The joy of our heart has ceased; our dancing is turned into mourning.
Kuo ʻosi ʻae fiefia ʻa homau loto; kuo liliu ʻa ʻemau meʻe ko e mamahi.
16 The crown is fallen from our head; woe to us, for we have sinned.
Kuo tō ʻae tatā fakatuʻi mei homau ʻulu. ʻOiauē ʻakimautolu! He kuo mau fai angahala.
17 For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes grow dim.
Koeʻuhi ko e meʻa ni ʻoku vaivai homau loto; koeʻuhi ko e ngaahi meʻa ni ʻoku nenefu homau mata.
18 For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate; the foxes walk on it.
Koeʻuhi ko e moʻunga ʻo Saione, ʻaia ʻoku lala pē, ʻoku ʻaʻeva ai ʻae fanga fokisi.
19 But you, LORD, abide forever; your throne is from generation to generation.
‌ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ke ʻafioʻi ʻo taʻengata, ko ho ʻafioʻanga ʻoku mei he toʻutangata ki he toʻutangata.
20 Why do you keep on forgetting us? Why do you forsake us so long?
Ko e hā ʻoku ke fakangaloʻi ʻakimautolu ʻo taʻengata, pea mahuʻi meiate kimautolu ʻo fuoloa?
21 Restore us to you, LORD, and we shall be restored; renew our days as in former times,
Fakatafokiʻi ʻakimautolu kiate koe, ʻE Sihova, pea te mau liliu moʻoni; fakafoʻou homau ngaahi ʻaho ʻo hangē ko ia ʻi muʻa.
22 unless you have completely rejected us and are angry with us beyond measure.
Ka kuo ke mātuʻaki liʻaki ʻakimautolu; ʻoku ke houhau ʻaupito kiate kimautolu.
