Joshua 3
1 Joshua rose up early in the morning; and they moved from Shittim, and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel. They lodged there before they passed over.
Fölkelt Józsua kora reggel, elindultak Sittímből és eljutottak a Jordánig, ő meg mind az Izraél fiai; s megháltak ott, mielőtt átkeltek.
2 It happened after three days, that the officers went through the midst of the camp;
Volt pedig három nap múlva, bejárták a felügyelők a tábort
3 and they commanded the people, saying, "When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the cohanim the Levites bearing it, then you shall move from your place, and follow it.
s megparancsolták a népnek, mondván: Amint meglátjátok az Örökkévaló, a ti Istentek szövetségének ládáját és a levita papok viszik azt, ti is induljatok el helyetekből és menjetek utána –
4 However, keep a distance of about two thousand nine hundred fifty-three feet between yourselves and the ark. Do not come near to it, that you may know the way by which you must go; for you have not passed this way before."
csakhogy távolság legyen köztetek és közte, mintegy kétezer könyök a mérték szerint; ne közeledjetek hozzá, azért hogy megtudjátok az utat, melyen járjatok, mert nem vonultatok ez úton sem tegnap, sem tegnapelőtt.
5 Joshua said to the people, "Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you."
És szólt Józsua a néphez: Szenteljétek meg magatokat, mert holnap művelni fog köztetek az Örökkévaló csodálatos dolgokat.
6 Joshua spoke to the cohanim, saying, "Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people." They took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
És szólt Józsua a papokhoz, mondván: Vegyétek föl a szövetség ládáját és vonuljatok a nép előtt. S fölvették a szövetség ládáját és mentek a nép előtt.
7 The LORD said to Joshua, "Today I will begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.
És szólt az Örökkévaló Józsuához: Ezen a napon naggyá kezdlek tenni egész Izraél szemei előtt, hogy megtudják, hogy amint voltam Mózessel, úgy leszek te veled.
8 You shall command the cohanim who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, 'When you come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.'"
Te pedig parancsold meg a papoknak, a szövetség ládája vivőinek, mondván: amint juttok a Jordán vizeinek széléig, a Jordánban álljatok meg.
9 Joshua said to the children of Israel, "Come here, and hear the words of the LORD your God."
És szólt Józsua Izraél fiaihoz: Lépjetek ide és halljátok az Örökkévaló, a ti Istentek szavait.
10 Joshua said, "Hereby you shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive the Canaanite, and the Hethite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite out from before you.
Mondta Józsua: Ebből fogjátok megtudni, hogy élő Isten van köztetek, és űzve elűzi előletek a kanaánit, a chittit, a chivvit, a perizzit, a girgásit, meg az emórit s a jebúszit:
11 Look, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passes over before you into the Jordan.
íme, a szövetség ládája, az egész föld Uráé, átvonul előttetek a Jordánba –
12 Now therefore take twelve men from the children of Israel, one man for each tribe.
s most vegyetek magatoknak tizenkét férfit, Izraél törzsei közül, egy-egy férfit törzsenként –
13 It shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the cohanim who bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, even the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand in one heap."
s lészen, amint nyugosznak a papoknak lába talpai, akik viszik az Örökkévaló, az egész föld Urának ládáját, a Jordán vizeiben, a Jordán vizei megszakadnak, a felülről aláfolyó vizek, és megállanak egyetlen fal gyanánt.
14 It happened, when the people moved from their tents to pass over the Jordan, the cohanim who bore the ark of the covenant being before the people,
És történt, mikor elindult sátraiból a nép, hogy átkeljen a Jordánon, a papok pedig, a szövetség ládájának vivői a nép előtt –
15 and when those who bore the ark had come to the Jordan, and the feet of the cohanim who bore the ark had dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the time of harvest),
amint aztán eljutottak a láda vivői a Jordánig és a papoknak, a láda vivőinek lábai a vizek szélébe bemerültek, a Jordán pedig telve volt mind a partjain túl az aratás egész idejében –
16 that the waters which came down from above stood, and rose up in one heap, a great way off, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those that went down toward the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off. Then the people passed over right against Jericho.
akkor megálltak a felülről aláfolyó vizek, álltak egyetlen fal gyanánt, igen távol Ádám várostól, mely Cáretán oldalán van; a melyek pedig aláfolynak a síkság tengere, a sós tenger felé, teljesen megszakadtak. És a nép átkelt Jeríchóval szemben.
17 The cohanim who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan; and all Israel passed over on dry ground, until all the nation had passed completely over the Jordan.
S míg szilárdan ott álltak a papok, az Örökkévaló szövetsége ládájának vivői, szárazon a Jordán közepén, addig egész Izraél átkelt szárazon, míg teljesen át nem kelt az egész nép a Jordánon.
