Ezra 4

1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the people from the exile were building a temple to the LORD, the God of Israel;

പ്രവാസികൾ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു മന്ദിരം പണിയുന്നു എന്നു യെഹൂദയുടെയും ബെന്യാമീന്റെയും വൈരികൾ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ

2 then they drew near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers' households, and said to them, "Let us build with you; for we seek your God, as you do; and we sacrifice to him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here."

അവർ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിന്റെയും പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവരോടു: ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പണിയട്ടെ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ നിങ്ങളെന്നപോലെ ഞങ്ങളും അന്വേഷിക്കയും ഞങ്ങൾ അവന്നു, ഞങ്ങളെ ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ എസൎഹദ്ദോന്റെ കാലംമുതൽ യാഗം കഴിക്കയും ചെയ്തുപോരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers' households of Israel, said to them, "You have nothing to do with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to the LORD, the God of Israel, as king Koresh the king of Persia has commanded us."

അതിന്നു സെരുബ്ബാബേലും യേശുവയും ശേഷം യിസ്രായേൽപിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരും അവരോടു: ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയം പണിയുന്നതിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഞങ്ങളുമായി കാൎയ്യമൊന്നുമില്ല; പാൎസിരാജാവായ കോരെശ്‌രാജാവു ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങൾ തന്നേ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു അതു പണിതുകൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

ആകയാൽ ദേശനിവാസികൾ യെഹൂദാജനത്തിന്നു ധൈൎയ്യക്ഷയം വരുത്തി പണിയാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരെ പേടിപ്പിച്ചു.

5 and hired counselors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Koresh king of Persia, even until the reign of Daryavesh king of Persia.

അവരുടെ ഉദ്ദേശം നിഷ്ഫലമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവർ പാൎസിരാജാവായ കോരെശിന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും പാൎസിരാജാവായ ദാൎയ്യാവേശിന്റെ വാഴ്ചവരെയും അവൎക്കു വിരോധമായി കാൎയ്യസ്ഥന്മാരെ കൈക്കൂലി കൊടുത്തു വശത്താക്കി.

6 In the reign of Achashyerosh, in the beginning of his reign, they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

അഹശ്വേരോശിന്റെ കാലത്തു, അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ആരംഭത്തിൽ തന്നേ, അവർ യെഹൂദയിലെയും യെരൂശലേമിലെയും നിവാസികൾക്കു വിരോധമായി അന്യായപത്രം എഴുതി അയച്ചു.

7 In the days of Artachshasta wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his companions, to Artachshasta king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in Aramaic, and set forth in the Aramaic language.

അൎത്ഥഹ്ശഷ്ടാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു ബിശ്ലാമും മിത്രെദാത്തും താബെയേലും ശേഷം അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാരും പാൎസിരാജാവായ അൎത്ഥഹ്ശഷ്ടാവിന്നു ഒരു പത്രിക എഴുതി അയച്ചു; പത്രിക അരാമ്യാക്ഷരത്തിൽ, അരാമ്യഭാഷയിൽ തന്നേ എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

8 Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artachshasta the king as follows:

ധൎമ്മാദ്ധ്യക്ഷനായ രെഹൂമും രായസക്കാരനായ ശിംശായിയും യെരൂശലേമിന്നു വിരോധമായി അൎത്ഥഹ്ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്നു ഒരു പത്രിക എഴുതി അയച്ചു.

9 [From] Rehum the commander, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions, the Dinaites, and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,

ധൎമ്മാദ്ധ്യക്ഷൻ രെഹൂമും രായസക്കാരൻ ശിംശായിയും ശേഷം അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാരായ ദീന്യർ, അഫർസത്യർ, തർപ്പേല്യർ, അഫർസ്യർ, അർക്കവ്യർ, ബാബേല്യർ, ശൂശന്യർ, ദേഹാവ്യർ, ഏലാമ്യർ എന്നിവരും

10 and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnappar brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and in the rest of the country beyond the River.

മഹാനും ശ്രേഷ്ഠനുമായ അസ്നപ്പാർ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ശമൎയ്യാപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ മറ്റു ദിക്കുകളിലും പാൎപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ശേഷംജാതികളും ഇത്യാദി.

11 This is the copy of the letter that they sent to Artachshasta the king: Your servants the men beyond the River. And now,

അവർ അൎത്ഥഹ്ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്നു അയച്ച പത്രികയുടെ പകൎപ്പു എന്തെന്നാൽ: നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെയുള്ള നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ പുരുഷന്മാർ ഇത്യാദി രാജാവു ബോധിപ്പാൻ:

12 be it known to the king, that the Jews who came up from you have come to us to Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and wicked city, and have finished the walls, and repaired the foundations.

തിരുമുമ്പിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ യെരൂശലേമിൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാർ മത്സരവും ദുഷ്ടതയുമുള്ള ആ പട്ടണം പണികയും അതിന്റെ മതിലുകൾ കെട്ടുകയും അടിസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ നന്നാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

13 Be it known now to the king that if this city is built, and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will be hurtful to the kings.

പട്ടണം പണിതു മതിലുകൾ കെട്ടിത്തീൎന്നാൽ അവർ കരമോ നികുതിയോ ചുങ്കമോ ഒന്നും അടെക്കയില്ല; അങ്ങനെ ഒടുവിൽ അവർ രാജാക്കന്മാൎക്കു നഷ്ടം വരുത്തും എന്നു രാജാവിന്നു ബോധിച്ചിരിക്കേണം.

14 Now because we eat the salt of the palace, and it is not appropriate for us to see the king's dishonor, therefore have we sent and informed the king;

എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ കോവിലകത്തെ ഉപ്പു തിന്നുന്നവരാകയാലും രാജാവിന്നു അപമാനം വരുന്നതു കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഉചിതമല്ലായ്കയാലും ഞങ്ങൾ ആളയച്ചു രാജാവിനെ ഇതു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു.

15 that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers: so you shall find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful to kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time; for which cause was this city laid waste.

അവിടത്തെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ നോക്കിയാൽ ഈ പട്ടണം മത്സരവും രാജാക്കന്മാൎക്കും സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾക്കും ഉപദ്രവവും ഉള്ള പട്ടണം എന്നും അതിൽ അവർ പുരാതനമേ കലഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതിനാൽ ഈ പട്ടണം നശിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്നു എന്നും വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽനിന്നു അറിവാറാകും.

16 We inform the king that, if this city be built, and the walls finished, by this means you shall have no portion beyond the River.

ഈ പട്ടണം പണികയും അതിന്റെ മതിലുകൾ കെട്ടിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്താൽ അതു നിമിത്തം അവിടത്തേക്കു നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ ഒരു അവകാശവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയില്ലെന്നു രാജാവിനെ ഉണൎത്തിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു.

17 Then the king sent an answer to Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions who dwell in Samaria, and in the rest of the country beyond the River: Peace, and so forth.

അതിന്നു രാജാവു ധൎമ്മാദ്ധ്യക്ഷനായ രെഹൂമിന്നും രായസക്കാരനായ ശിംശായിക്കും ശമൎയ്യാനിവാസികളായ അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാൎക്കും നദിക്കും അക്കരെയുള്ള ശേഷംപേൎക്കും മറുപടി എഴുതി അയച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾക്കു കുശലം ഇത്യാദി;

18 The letter which you sent to us has been plainly read before me.

നിങ്ങൾ കൊടുത്തയച്ച പത്രിക നമ്മുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വ്യക്തമായി വായിച്ചുകേട്ടു.

19 I decreed, and search has been made, and it is found that this city of old time has made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made in it.

നാം കല്പന കൊടുത്തിട്ടു അവർ ശോധനചെയ്തു നോക്കിയപ്പോൾ ആ പട്ടണം പുരാതനമേ രാജാക്കന്മാരോടു എതിൎത്തുനില്ക്കുന്നതു എന്നും അതിൽ മത്സരവും കലഹവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നും

20 There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, who have ruled over all the country beyond the River; and tribute, custom, and toll, was paid to them.

യെരൂശലേമിൽ ബലവാന്മാരായ രാജാക്കന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവർ നദിക്കു അക്കരെയുള്ള നാടൊക്കെയും വാണു കരവും നികുതിയും ചുങ്കവും വാങ്ങിവന്നു എന്നും കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

21 Make a decree now to cause these men to cease, and that this city not be built, until a decree shall be made by me.

ആകയാൽ നാം മറ്റൊരു കല്പന അയക്കുന്നതുവരെ അവർ പട്ടണം പണിയുന്നതു നിൎത്തിവെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആജ്ഞാപിപ്പിൻ.

22 Take heed that you not be slack herein: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?

നിങ്ങൾ അതിൽ ഉപേക്ഷചെയ്യാതെ ജാഗ്രതയായിരിപ്പിൻ; രാജാക്കന്മാൎക്കു നഷ്ടവും ഹാനിയും വരരുതു.

23 Then when the copy of king Artachshasta's letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went in haste to Jerusalem to the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.

അൎത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്റെ എഴുത്തിന്റെ പകൎപ്പു രെഹൂമും രായസക്കാരനായ ശിംശായിയും അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാരും വായിച്ചു കേട്ടശേഷം അവർ യെരൂശലേമിൽ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു ബലാല്ക്കാരത്തോടെ അവരെ ഹേമിച്ചു പണി മുടക്കി.

24 Then ceased the work of God's house which is at Jerusalem; and it ceased until the second year of the reign of Daryavesh king of Persia.

അങ്ങനെ യെരൂശലേമിലെ ദൈവാലയത്തിന്റെ പണി മുടങ്ങി; പാൎസിരാജാവായ ദാൎയ്യാവേശിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടുവരെ പണി മുടങ്ങിക്കിടന്നു.
