Ezekiel 29

1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

La dixième année, le dixième mois, le douzième jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:

2 "Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.

Fils de l'homme, tourne ton visage contre Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, et prophétise contre lui et contre toute l'Egypte;

3 Speak and say, 'Thus says the LORD: "Look, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster that lies in the midst of his rivers, that has said, 'My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.'

parle et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: J'en veux à toi, Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, à toi le grand dragon couché au sein de ses fleuves, qui dis: « Mon fleuve est à moi, et je l'ai fait pour moi. »

4 I will put hooks in your jaws, and I will make the fish of your rivers stick to your scales; and I will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers, with all the fish of your rivers which stick to your scales.

Je mettrai une boucle à ta mâchoire; et j'attacherai les poissons de tes fleuves à tes écailles, et te tirerai du sein de tes fleuves, avec tous les poissons de tes fleuves attachés à tes écailles.

5 I'll cast you forth into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers. You'll fall on the open field. You won't be brought together, nor gathered. I have given you for food to the animals of the earth and to the birds of the sky.

Puis je te jetterai au désert, toi et tous les poissons de tes fleuves, tu tomberas sur la face de la terre, et ne seras ni ramassé ni recueilli: aux bêtes de la terre et aux oiseaux des Cieux je te donne en proie.

6 All the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

Et tous les habitants de l'Egypte comprendront que je suis l'Éternel. Parce qu'ils furent un appui de roseau pour la maison d'Israël,

7 When they took hold of you with their hand, you splintered and dislocated their shoulders; and when they leaned on you, you shattered and caused their legs to be unsteady."

quand ils te prirent par ta poignée, tu te brisas y et leur fendis toute l'épaule, et quand ils s'appuyèrent sur toi, tu te cassas et ébranlas leurs reins.

8 "'Therefore thus says the LORD: "Look, I will bring a sword on you, and will cut off man and animal from you.

Aussi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici je ferai fondre l'épée sur toi, et du milieu de toi j'exterminerai hommes et bêtes,

9 The land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste; and they shall know that I am the LORD. Because he has said, 'The river is mine, and I have made it;'

et l'Egypte deviendra un désert et une solitude, et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel. Parce que [Pharaon] dit: « Le fleuve est à moi et je l'ai fait! »

10 therefore, look, I am against you, and against your rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from the tower of Syene even to the border of Ethiopia.

pour cela, j'en veux à toi et à tes fleuves, et je ferai du pays d'Egypte une solitude et un vaste désert de Migdol à Siène, et jusques aux confins de l'Ethiopie;

11 No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of animal shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.

le pied de l'homme ne le parcourra point, et le pied de l'animal ne le traversera point, et il ne sera plus habité pendant quarante ans;

12 I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be a desolation forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries."

et je ferai du pays d'Egypte un désert entre les pays déserts, et entre les villes dévastées ses villes seront désertes pendant quarante ans, et je disperserai les Égyptiens parmi les nations et les disséminerai dans les pays divers.

13 "'For thus says the LORD: "At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the peoples where they were scattered;

Cependant ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Au terme de quarante ans je rassemblerai les Égyptiens du milieu des peuples où ils auront été dispersés,

14 and I will bring back the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their birth; and they shall be there a base kingdom.

et je ramènerai les captifs de l'Egypte, et les ferai revenir au pays de Pathros dans leur pays d'origine, et là ils formeront un humble royaume:

15 It shall be the base of the kingdoms; neither shall it any more lift itself up above the nations: and I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.

il sera plus humble que les royaumes, et ne s'élèvera plus au-dessus des peuples, et je les diminuerai, afin qu'ils ne dominent plus les peuples:

16 It shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, bringing iniquity to memory, when they turn to look after them: and they shall know that I am the LORD."'"

et ils ne donneront plus à la maison d'Israël une confiance qui la faisait penser au crime, quand elle pouvait s'adresser à eux, et ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur, l'Éternel.

17 It came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Et la vingt-septième année, le premier mois, le premier jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:

18 "Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyre: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was worn; yet had he no wages, nor his army, from Tyre, for the service that he had served against it.

Fils de l'homme, Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, a fait faire à son armée un service pénible contre Tyr; toutes les têtes sont chauves, et toutes les épaules pelées, et Tyr ne le paie ni lui, ni son armée, du service qu'il a fait contre elle.

19 Therefore thus says the LORD: 'Look, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall carry off her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.

Aussi, ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, je donne à Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, le pays d'Egypte, pour qu'il emmène son peuple, et emporte sa dépouille, et pille. son butin, et ce sera là le salaire de son armée.

20 I have given him the land of Egypt as his recompense for which he served, because they worked for me,' says the LORD.

Pour prix du service qu'il a fait, je lui donne le pays d'Egypte, car ils ont travaillé pour moi, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.

21 'In that day will I cause a horn to bud forth to the house of Israel, and I will give you the opening of the mouth in their midst; and they shall know that I am the LORD.'"

Dans ce même temps je ferai croître une corne à la maison d'Israël, et je t'ouvrirai la bouche au milieu d'eux, et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel.
