Yochanan 8
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
しかしイエスはオリーブ山に行った。
2 Now very early in the morning, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them.
さて，朝早く，彼は再び神殿の中に来た。そして人々はみな彼のもとに来た。彼は座って彼らを教えた。
3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,
律法学者たちとファリサイ人たちが，姦淫の最中に捕まった女を連れて来た。彼女を中央に立たせて，
4 they said to him, "Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.
彼に告げた，「先生，わたしたちはこの女を姦淫の真っ最中に見つけました。
5 Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such. So what do you say?"
さて，わたしたちの律法の中で，このような者は石打ちにするよう，モーセはわたしたちに命令しました。あなたは彼女について何と言いますか」。
6 Now they said this to test him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.
彼らは彼を試して，訴える口実を得るために，このことを言ったのである。 しかしイエスは身をかがめ，指で地面に何か書いていた。
7 But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her."
それでも彼らがしつこく尋ねると，目を上げて彼らに言った，「あなた方の間で罪のない者が，この女に向かって最初に石を投げなさい」 。
8 Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
再び身をかがめ，指で地面に何か書いていた。
9 But when they heard it, they went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last, and he was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.
これを聞くと彼らは良心に責められ，年長者から始めて最後の者まで，一人また一人と出て行った。イエスがひとり，真ん中にいる女と共に残された。
10 Then Jesus, standing up, said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?"
イエスは立ち上がり，彼女を見て言った，「女よ，あなたの告訴人はどこにいるのか。だれもあなたを罪に定めなかったのか」 。
11 And she said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more."
彼女は言った，「だれも，主よ」。 イエスは言った，「わたしもあなたを罪に定めない。帰りなさい。今からは，もう罪を犯してはならない」 。
12 Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."
それでイエスは再び彼らに話して言った，「わたしは世の光だ。わたしに従う者は闇の中を歩くことがなく，命の光を持つことになる」 。
13 The Pharisees therefore said to him, "You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not valid."
それでファリサイ人たちは彼に言った，「あなたは自分について証言している。あなたの証言は正当ではない」。
14 Jesus answered them, "Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you do not know where I came from, or where I am going.
イエスは彼らに答えた，「たとえわたしが自分について証言するとしても，わたしの証言は真実だ。自分がどこから来たか，そしてどこへ行こうとしているかを知っているからだ。しかしあなた方はわたしがどこから来たか，またどこへ行こうとしているかを知らない。
15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
あなた方はうわべで裁く。わたしはだれをも裁かない。
16 Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.
しかし，わたしが裁くとしても，わたしの裁きは正しい。わたしはひとりではなく，わたしを遣わされた父と共にいるからだ。
17 It's also written in your Law that the testimony of two people is valid.
あなた方の律法に，二人の人の証言は正当だと書いてあるとおりだ。
18 I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me."
わたしは自分について証言し，わたしを遣わされた父もわたしについて証言してくださる」 。
19 They said therefore to him, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also."
それで彼らは彼に言った，「あなたの父はどこにいるのか」。 イエスは答えた，「あなた方はわたしもわたしの父も知っていない。もしあなた方がわたしを知っていたなら，わたしの父をも知っていただろう」 。
20 Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
神殿の中で教えていた際，宝物殿の中で，イエスはこれらの言葉を語った。それでも，彼を逮捕する者はいなかった。彼の時がまだ来ていなかったからである。
21 Jesus said therefore again to them, "I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you cannot come."
それでイエスは再び彼らに言った，「わたしは去って行こうとしている。そしてあなた方はわたしを探すが，自分の罪のうちに死ぬだろう。わたしが行く所に，あなた方は来ることができない」 。
22 The Jewish leaders therefore said, "Will he kill himself, that he says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come?'"
それでユダヤ人たちは言った，「彼は自殺するつもりなのだろうか。『わたしが行く所に，あなた方は来ることができない』 と言うのだから」。
23 He said to them, "You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.
彼は彼らに答えた，「あなた方は下からの者だが，わたしは上からの者だ。あなた方はこの世からの者だが，わたしはこの世からの者ではない。
24 I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."
そのためわたしは，あなた方は自分の罪のうちに死ぬだろうと言った。わたしがその者だと信じない限り，あなた方は自分の罪のうちに死ぬからだ」 。
25 They said therefore to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.
それで彼らは彼に言った，「あなたはだれなのか」。 イエスは彼らに答えた，「まさしくわたしがはじめからあなた方に言っているものだ。
26 I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world."
わたしには，あなた方に関して言うべき，また裁くべき事柄がたくさんある。だが，わたしを遣わされた父は真実な方であり，わたしはその方から聞いた事柄を世に対して話すのだ」 。
27 They did not understand that he spoke to them about the Father.
彼らは，彼が父について話していることを理解しなかった。
28 Jesus therefore said to them, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I say these things.
それでイエスは彼らに言った，「あなた方は，人の子を挙げると，その時，わたしがその者であること，また，わたしが自分からは何も行なうことができず，父が教えてくださったとおりにそれらの事柄を話すことを知るだろう。
29 He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn't left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him."
わたしを遣わされた方はわたしと共におられる。父はわたしをひとりで残してはおかれない。わたしはいつでもその方の喜ばれる事を行なうからだ」 。
30 As he spoke these things, many believed in him.
彼がこれらの事柄を話していた際，多くの人が彼を信じた。
31 Jesus therefore said to those Judeans who had believed him, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.
それでイエスは，自分を信じたそれらのユダヤ人たちに言った，「あなた方がわたしの言葉にとどまるなら，あなた方は本当にわたしの弟子だ。
32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
あなた方は真理を知り，真理はあなた方を自由にするだろう」 。
33 They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free?'"
彼らは彼に答えた，「わたしたちはアブラハムの子孫であり，だれかの奴隷になったことなど決してない。『あなた方は自由にされる』 と言うのはどうしてか」。
34 Jesus answered them, "Truly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
イエスは彼らに答えた，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。罪を犯す者はみな罪の奴隷だ。
奴隷はいつまでも家に住みはしない。しかし子はいつまでもとどまる。 (aiōn g165)
36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
もし子があなた方を自由にするなら，あなた方は本当に自由になるのだ。
37 I know that you are Abraham's descendants, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.
わたしはあなた方がアブラハムの子孫であることを知っている。だが，あなた方はわたしを殺そうとしている。わたしの言葉があなた方の内に場所を見いだせないからだ。
38 I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have heard from your father."
わたしは自分の父のもとで見てきた事柄を話している。あなた方も自分たちの父のところで見てきた事柄を行なっている」 。
39 They answered him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.
彼らは彼に答えた，「我々の父はアブラハムだ」。 イエスは彼らに言った，「もしあなた方がアブラハムの子供であったなら，あなた方はアブラハムの業を行なうだろう。
40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.
ところが今，あなた方はわたしを，自分が神から聞いた真理を告げる者を殺そうとしている。アブラハムはこのようなことをしなかった。
41 You do the works of your father." They said to him, "We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God."
あなた方は自分たちの父の業を行なっているのだ」。 彼らは彼に言った，「我々は淫行によって生まれたのではない。我々にはただ一人の父，神がおられる」。
42 Therefore Jesus said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I have not come of myself, but he sent me.
それでイエスは彼らに言った，「もし神があなた方の父であったなら，あなた方はわたしを愛するだろう。わたしは神のもとから出て来て，ここにいるからだ。わたしは自分の考えで来たのではなく，その方がわたしを遣わされたのだ。
43 Why do you not understand my speech? Because you cannot hear my word.
あなた方がわたしの話すことを理解しないのはなぜなのか。それはあなた方がわたしの言葉を聞くことができないからだ。
44 You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.
あなた方は自分たちの父，悪魔からの者であり，自分たちの父の欲望を行ないたいと思っている。彼ははじめからの人殺しであって，真理の内に立たない。彼の内には真理がないからだ。彼が偽りを語るときには，彼自身のものに従って語る。彼は偽り者であり，偽りの父だからだ。
45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me.
しかし，わたしはあなた方に真理を告げるので，あなた方はわたしを信じない。
46 Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?
あなた方のうちのだれが，わたしに罪があると責めることができるのか。わたしがあなた方に真理を告げているのなら，なぜわたしを信じないのか。
47 He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you do not hear, because you are not of God."
神に属している者は，神の言葉を聞く。この理由であなた方は聞かない。あなた方が神に属していないからだ」 。
48 Then the Judeans answered him, "Do not we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?"
するとユダヤ人たちは彼に答えた，「我々が，あなたはサマリア人で，悪魔に取りつかれていると言うのはもっともではないか」。
49 Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
イエスは答えた，「わたしは悪魔に取りつかれてはいない。わたしは自分の父を敬うのに，あなた方はわたしを辱める。
50 But I do not seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.
しかし，わたしは自分の栄光を求めない。それを求め，裁く方がおられる。
本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。わたしの言葉を守るなら，その者は決して死を見ることがない」 。 (aiōn g165)
52 Then the Judeans said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say, 'If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste of death.' (aiōn g165)
するとユダヤ人たちは彼に言った，「あなたが悪霊に取りつかれていることが今こそ分かった。アブラハムは死に，預言者たちも死んだ。それなのにあなたは，『わたしの言葉を守るなら，その者は決して死を味わうことがない』 と言う。 (aiōn g165)
53 Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?"
あなたは，我々の父アブラハムより偉大なのか。彼は死んだし，預言者たちも死んだ。あなたは自分を何者とするのか」。
54 Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say 'He is our God.'
イエスは答えた，「もしわたしが自分に栄光を与えるなら，わたしの栄光は無意味だ。あなた方が自分たちの神だと言っているのは，わたしに栄光を与えてくださるわたしの父についてなのだ。
55 You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, 'I do not know him,' I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word.
あなた方はその方を知っていないが，わたしはその方を知っている。もし『わたしはその方を知らない』と言うなら，わたしはあなた方と同じように偽り者になるだろう。しかしわたしはその方を知っており，その方の言葉を守っている。
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad."
あなた方の父アブラハムはわたしの日を見ることを喜んだ。彼はそれを見て喜んだ」 。
57 The Judeans therefore said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?"
それでユダヤ人たちは彼に言った，「あなたはまだ五十歳にもなっていないのに，アブラハムを見たことがあるのか」。
58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM."
イエスは彼らに言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。アブラハムが生まれる前から，わたしはある」 。
59 Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus was concealed, and went out of the temple.
そのため彼らは彼に投げつけるために石を拾い上げた。しかしイエスは隠され，神殿から出て行った。彼らの真ん中を通り抜けて行き，そのようにして通り過ぎて行った。
