Ephesians 5
1 Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.
ato yuuya. m priyabaalakaa ive"svarasyaanukaari. no bhavata,
2 And walk in love, even as Messiah also loved us, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
khrii. s.ta iva premaacaara. m kuruta ca, yata. h so. asmaasu prema k. rtavaan asmaaka. m vinimayena caatmanivedana. m k. rtvaa graahyasugandhaarthakam upahaara. m bali nce"svaraaca dattavaan|
3 But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;
kintu ve"syaagamana. m sarvvavidhaa"saucakriyaa lobha"scaite. saam uccaara. namapi yu. smaaka. m madhye na bhavatu, etadeva pavitralokaanaam ucita. m|
4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks.
apara. m kutsitaalaapa. h pralaapa. h "sle. sokti"sca na bhavatu yata etaanyanucitaani kintvii"svarasya dhanyavaado bhavatu|
5 Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, that is, an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Messiah and God.
ve"syaagaamya"saucaacaarii devapuujaka iva ga. nyo lobhii caite. saa. m ko. si khrii. s.tasya raajye. arthata ii"svarasya raajye kamapyadhikaara. m na praapsyatiiti yu. smaabhi. h samyak j naayataa. m|
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.
anarthakavaakyena ko. api yu. smaan na va ncayatu yatastaad. rgaacaarahetoranaaj naagraahi. su loke. svii"svarasya kopo varttate|
7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.
tasmaad yuuya. m tai. h sahabhaagino na bhavata|
8 For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
puurvva. m yuuyam andhakaarasvaruupaa aadhva. m kintvidaanii. m prabhunaa diiptisvaruupaa bhavatha tasmaad diipte. h santaanaa iva samaacarata|
9 for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,
diipte ryat phala. m tat sarvvavidhahitai. sitaayaa. m dharmme satyaalaape ca prakaa"sate|
10 proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.
prabhave yad rocate tat pariik. sadhva. m|
11 Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.
yuuya. m timirasya viphalakarmma. naam a. m"sino na bhuutvaa te. saa. m do. sitva. m prakaa"sayata|
12 For the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.
yataste lokaa rahami yad yad aacaranti taduccaara. nam api lajjaajanaka. m|
13 But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.
yato diiptyaa yad yat prakaa"syate tat tayaa cakaasyate yacca cakaasti tad diiptisvaruupa. m bhavati|
14 Therefore he says, "Awake, you who sleep, and rise from the dead, and Messiah will shine on you."
etatkaara. naad uktam aaste, "he nidrita prabudhyasva m. rtebhya"scotthiti. m kuru| tatk. rte suuryyavat khrii. s.ta. h svaya. m tvaa. m dyotayi. syati|"
15 Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise;
ata. h saavadhaanaa bhavata, aj naanaa iva maacarata kintu j naanina iva satarkam aacarata|
16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
samaya. m bahumuulya. m ga. nayadhva. m yata. h kaalaa abhadraa. h|
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
tasmaad yuuyam aj naanaa na bhavata kintu prabhorabhimata. m ki. m tadavagataa bhavata|
18 Do not get drunk with wine, which is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
sarvvanaa"sajanakena suraapaanena mattaa maa bhavata kintvaatmanaa puuryyadhva. m|
19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your heart to the Lord;
apara. m giitai rgaanai. h paaramaarthikakiirttanai"sca parasparam aalapanto manasaa saarddha. m prabhum uddi"sya gaayata vaadayata ca|
20 giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus (the) Messiah to God the Father;
sarvvadaa sarvvavi. saye. asmatprabho yii"so. h khrii. s.tasya naamnaa taatam ii"svara. m dhanya. m vadata|
21 subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Messiah.
yuuyam ii"svaraad bhiitaa. h santa anye. apare. saa. m va"siibhuutaa bhavata|
22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
he yo. sita. h, yuuya. m yathaa prabhostathaa svasvasvaamino va"sa"ngataa bhavata|
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, and Messiah also is the head of the church, being himself the savior of the body.
yata. h khrii. s.to yadvat samite rmuurddhaa "sariirasya traataa ca bhavati tadvat svaamii yo. sito muurddhaa|
24 But as the church is subject to Messiah, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything.
ata. h samiti ryadvat khrii. s.tasya va"siibhuutaa tadvad yo. sidbhirapi svasvasvaamino va"sataa sviikarttavyaa|
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Messiah also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;
apara nca he puru. saa. h, yuuya. m khrii. s.ta iva svasvayo. sitsu priiyadhva. m|
26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,
sa khrii. s.to. api samitau priitavaan tasyaa. h k. rte ca svapraa. naan tyaktavaan yata. h sa vaakye jalamajjanena taa. m pari. sk. rtya paavayitum
27 that he might present the church to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
apara. m tilakavalyaadivihiinaa. m pavitraa. m ni. skala"nkaa nca taa. m samiti. m tejasvinii. m k. rtvaa svahaste samarpayitu ncaabhila. sitavaan|
28 Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
tasmaat svatanuvat svayo. siti premakara. na. m puru. sasyocita. m, yena svayo. siti prema kriyate tenaatmaprema kriyate|
29 For no one ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as Messiah also does the church;
ko. api kadaapi na svakiiyaa. m tanum. rtiiyitavaan kintu sarvve taa. m vibhrati pu. s.nanti ca| khrii. s.to. api samiti. m prati tadeva karoti,
30 because we are members of his body, of his flesh and of his bones.
yato vaya. m tasya "sariirasyaa"ngaani maa. msaasthiini ca bhavaama. h|
31 "For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."
etadartha. m maanava. h svamaataapitaro parityajya svabhaaryyaayaam aasa. mk. syati tau dvau janaavekaa"ngau bhavi. syata. h|
32 This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Messiah and of the church.
etanniguu. dhavaakya. m gurutara. m mayaa ca khrii. s.tasamitii adhi tad ucyate|
33 Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
ataeva yu. smaakam ekaiko jana aatmavat svayo. siti priiyataa. m bhaaryyaapi svaamina. m samaadarttu. m yatataa. m|
