Acts 27
1 When it was determined that we should sail for Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan band.
Αφού δε απεφασίσθη να αποπλεύσωμεν εις την Ιταλίαν, παρέδωκαν τον Παύλον και τινάς άλλους δεσμίους εις εκατόνταρχον Ιούλιον ονομαζόμενον, εκ του τάγματος του Σεβαστού λεγομένου.
2 Embarking in a ship from Adramyttium, which was about to sail to places on the coast of Asia, we put to sea; Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
Και αφού επέβημεν εις πλοίον Αδραμυττηνόν, εσηκώθημεν μέλλοντες να παραπλεύσωμεν τους κατά την Ασίαν τόπους, έχοντες μεθ' ημών Αρίσταρχον τον Μακεδόνα τον εκ Θεσσαλονίκης·
3 The next day, we landed at Sidon. Julius treated Paul kindly, and gave him permission to go to his friends and refresh himself.
και την άλλην ημέραν εφθάσαμεν εις Σιδώνα· και ο Ιούλιος φιλανθρώπως φερόμενος προς τον Παύλον επέτρεψεν εις αυτόν να υπάγη προς τους φίλους αυτού και να λάβη περίθαλψιν.
4 Putting to sea from there, we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.
Και εκείθεν σηκωθέντες υπεπλεύσαμεν την Κύπρον, επειδή ήσαν εναντίοι οι άνεμοι,
5 When we had sailed across the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.
και διαπλεύσαντες το πέλαγος της Κιλικίας και Παμφυλίας, ήλθομεν εις τα Μύρα της Λυκίας.
6 There the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing for Italy, and he put us on board.
Και εκεί ευρών ο εκατόνταρχος πλοίον Αλεξανδρινόν, το οποίον έπλεεν εις την Ιταλίαν, επεβίβασεν ημάς εις αυτό·
7 When we had sailed slowly many days, and had come with difficulty opposite Cnidus, the wind not allowing us further, we sailed under the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone.
βραδυπλοούντες δε ικανάς ημέρας και μόλις φθάσαντες εις την Κνίδον, επειδή δεν μας άφινεν ο άνεμος, υπεπλεύσαμεν την Κρήτην κατά την Σαλμώνην,
8 With difficulty sailing along it we came to a certain place called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea.
και μόλις παραπλεύσαντες αυτήν, ήλθομεν εις τόπον τινά ονομαζόμενον Καλούς Λιμένας, πλησίον του οποίου ήτο η πόλις Λασαία.
9 When much time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous, because the Fast had now already gone by, Paul admonished them,
Επειδή δε παρήλθεν ικανός καιρός και ο πλούς ήτο ήδη επικίνδυνος, διότι και η νηστεία είχεν ήδη παρέλθει, συνεβούλευεν ο Παύλος,
10 and said to them, "Sirs, I perceive that the voyage will be with injury and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives."
λέγων προς αυτούς· Άνδρες, βλέπω ότι ο πλούς μέλλει να γείνη με κακοπάθειαν και πολλήν ζημίαν ουχί μόνον του φορτίου και του πλοίου, αλλά και των ψυχών ημών.
11 But the centurion gave more heed to the master and to the owner of the ship than to those things which were spoken by Paul.
Αλλ' ο εκατόνταρχος επείθετο μάλλον εις τον κυβερνήτην και εις τον ναύκληρον παρά εις τα υπό του Παύλου λεγόμενα.
12 Because the haven was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised going to sea from there, if by any means they could reach Phoenix, and winter there, which is a port of Crete, looking northeast and southeast.
Και επειδή ο λιμήν δεν ήτο επιτήδειος εις παραχειμασίαν, οι πλειότεροι εγνωμοδότησαν να σηκωθώσι και εκείθεν, ώστε φθάσαντες αν ηδύναντο εις Φοίνικα, λιμένα της Κρήτης βλέποντα προς τον λίβα άνεμον και προς τον χώρον, να παραχειμάσωσιν εκεί.
13 When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, they weighed anchor and sailed along Crete, close to shore.
Και ότε έπνευσεν ολίγον νότος, νομίσαντες ότι επέτυχον του σκοπού, ανέσυραν την άγκυραν και παρέπλεον πλησίον την Κρήτην.
14 But before long, a stormy wind beat down from shore, which is called Euraquilo.
Πλην μετ' ολίγον προσέβαλε κατ' αυτής άνεμος τυφωνικός ο λεγόμενος Ευροκλύδων.
15 When the ship was caught, and could not face the wind, we gave way to it, and were driven along.
Και επειδή το πλοίον συνηρπάσθη και δεν ηδύνατο να αντέχη προς τον άνεμον, αφεθέντες εφερόμεθα.
16 Running under the lee of a small island called Cauda, we were able, with difficulty, to secure the boat.
Και τρέξαντες υπό νησίδιόν τι ονομαζόμενον Κλαύδην, μόλις ηδυνήθημεν να βάλωμεν εις την εξουσίαν μας την λέμβον,
17 After they had hoisted it up, they used cables to help reinforce the ship. Fearing that they would run aground on the Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor, and so were driven along.
την οποίαν αφού ανέλαβον μετεχειρίζοντο βοηθήματα, ζώνοντες υποκάτωθεν το πλοίον· και φοβούμενοι μη εκπέσωσιν εις την Σύρτιν, κατεβίβασαν τα πανία και εφέροντο ούτως.
18 As we labored exceedingly with the storm, the next day they began to throw things overboard.
Και επειδή εχειμαζόμεθα σφοδρώς, την ακόλουθον ημέραν έκαμνον χύσιν,
19 On the third day, they threw out the ship's tackle with their own hands.
και την τρίτην με τας ιδίας ημών χείρας ερρίψαμεν τα σκεύη του πλοίου·
20 When neither sun nor stars shone on us for many days, and no small storm pressed on us, all hope that we would be saved was now taken away.
και επειδή διά πολλών ημερών δεν εφαίνοντο ούτε ήλιος ούτε άστρα, και χειμών βαρύς επέκειτο, πάσα ελπίς σωτηρίας αφηρείτο πλέον αφ' ημών.
21 When they had been long without food, Paul stood up in the middle of them, and said, "Sirs, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete, and have gotten this injury and loss.
Μετά δε πολυήμερον ασιτίαν σταθείς ο Παύλος εν τω μέσω αυτών, είπεν· Έπρεπεν, ω άνδρες, να μου υπακούσητε και να μη σηκωθήτε από της Κρήτης και ούτως ηθέλομεν αποφύγει την κακοπάθειαν ταύτην και την ζημίαν.
22 Now I exhort you to cheer up, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.
Αλλά και ήδη σας παραινώ να έχητε θάρρος· διότι εξ υμών ουδεμία ψυχή δεν θέλει χαθή, ειμή μόνον το πλοίον.
23 For there stood by me this night an angel, belonging to the God whose I am and whom I serve,
Διότι την νύκτα ταύτην εφάνη εις εμέ άγγελος του Θεού, του οποίου είμαι, τον οποίον και λατρεύω,
24 saying, 'Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. And look, God has granted you all those who sail with you.'
λέγων· μη φοβού, Παύλε· πρέπει να παρασταθής ενώπιον του Καίσαρος· και ιδού, ο Θεός σοι εχάρισε πάντας τους πλέοντας μετά σου.
25 Therefore, sirs, cheer up. For I believe God, that it will be just as it has been spoken to me.
Διά τούτο θαρρείτε, άνδρες· διότι πιστεύω εις τον Θεόν ότι ούτω θέλει γείνει, καθ' ον τρόπον ελαλήθη προς εμέ.
26 But we must run aground on a certain island."
Πρέπει δε να πέσωμεν εις νήσόν τινά.
27 But when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven back and forth in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors surmised that they were drawing near to some land.
Ότε δε ήλθεν η δεκάτη τετάρτη νυξ, ενώ παρεφερόμεθα εν τη Αδριατική θαλάσση, περί το μέσον της νυκτός εσυμπέραινον οι ναύται ότι πλησιάζουσιν εις τόπον τινά.
28 They took soundings, and found twenty fathoms. After a little while, they took soundings again, and found fifteen fathoms.
Και ρίψαντες την βολίδα εύρον είκοσι οργυιάς, και αφού επροχώρησαν ολίγον διάστημα, ρίψαντες και πάλιν την βολίδα εύρον οργυιάς δεκαπέντε·
29 Fearing that we would run aground on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for daylight.
και φοβούμενοι μήπως πέσωμεν έξω εις τραχείς τόπους, ρίψαντες τέσσαρας αγκύρας από της πρύμνης, ηύχοντο να γείνη ημέρα.
30 As the sailors were trying to flee out of the ship, and had lowered the boat into the sea, pretending that they would lay out anchors from the bow,
Επειδή δε οι ναύται εζήτουν να φύγωσιν εκ του πλοίου και κατεβίβασαν την λέμβον εις την θάλασσαν, επί προφάσει ότι έμελλον να εκτείνωσιν αγκύρας εκ της πρώρας,
31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, "Unless these stay in the ship, you cannot be saved."
ο Παύλος είπε προς τον εκατόνταρχον και προς τους στρατιώτας· Εάν ούτοι δεν μείνωσιν εν τω πλοίω, σεις δεν δύνασθε να σωθήτε.
32 Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the boat, and let it fall off.
Τότε οι στρατιώται απέκοψαν τα σχοινία της λέμβου και αφήκαν αυτήν να πέση έξω.
33 While the day was coming on, Paul urged them all to take some food, saying, "This day is the fourteenth day that you wait and continue fasting, having taken nothing.
Έως δε να εξημερώση, ο Παύλος παρεκάλει πάντας να λάβωσι τροφήν τινά, λέγων· Δεκατέσσαρας ημέρας σήμερον προσδοκώντες διαμένετε νηστικοί, και δεν εφάγετε ουδέν.
34 Therefore I urge you to take some food, for this is for your preservation; for not a hair will perish from any of your heads."
Διά τούτο σας παρακαλώ να λάβητε τροφήν· διότι τούτο είναι αναγκαίον προς την σωτηρίαν σας· επειδή ουδενός από σας δεν θέλει πέσει θριξ εκ της κεφαλής.
35 When he had said this, and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all, and he broke it, and began to eat.
Αφού δε είπε ταύτα και έλαβεν άρτον, ευχαρίστησε τον Θεόν ενώπιον πάντων και κόψας ήρχισε να τρώγη.
36 Then they all cheered up, and they also took food.
Λαβόντες δε πάντες θάρρος, έλαβον και αυτοί τροφήν·
37 In all, we were two hundred seventy-six souls on the ship.
ήμεθα δε εν τω πλοίω ψυχαί όλαι διακόσιαι εβδομήκοντα εξ.
38 When they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, throwing out the wheat into the sea.
Αφού δε εχορτάσθησαν από τροφής ελάφρυνον το πλοίον, ρίπτοντες τον σίτον εις την θάλασσαν.
39 When it was day, they did not recognize the land, but they noticed a certain bay with a beach, and they decided to try to drive the ship onto it.
Και ότε έγεινεν ημέρα, δεν εγνώριζον την γην, παρετήρουν όμως κόλπον τινά έχοντα αιγιαλόν, εις τον οποίον εβουλεύθησαν, αν ηδύναντο, να εξώσωσι το πλοίον.
40 Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. Hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach.
Και κόψαντες τας αγκύρας, αφήκαν το πλοίον εις την θάλασσαν, λύσαντες ενταυτώ τους δεσμούς των πηδαλίων, και υψώσαντες τον αρτέμονα προς τον άνεμον, κατηυθύνοντο εις τον αιγιαλόν.
41 But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground. The bow struck and remained immovable, but the stern began to break up by the violence of the waves.
Περιπεσόντες δε εις τόπον, όπου συνήρχοντο δύο θάλασσαι, έρριψαν έξω το πλοίον, και η μεν πρώρα εκάθησε και έμεινεν ασάλευτος, η δε πρύμνη διελύετο υπό της βίας των κυμάτων.
42 The soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim out and escape.
Εβουλεύθησαν δε οι στρατιώται να θανατώσωσι τους δεσμίους, διά να μη φύγη μηδείς κολυμβήσας.
43 But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land;
Αλλ' ο εκατόνταρχος, θέλων να διασώση τον Παύλον, εμπόδισεν αυτούς από του σκοπού και προσέταξεν, όσοι ηδύναντο να κολυμβώσι να ριφθώσι πρώτοι και να εκβώσιν εις την γην,
44 and the rest should follow, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. So it happened that they all escaped safely to the land.
οι δε λοιποί άλλοι μεν επί σανίδων, άλλοι δε επί τινών λειψάνων του πλοίου, και ούτω διεσώθησαν πάντες εις την γην.
