1 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus (the) Messiah: Grace to you and peace.

パウロ、シルヴァノ及びチモテオ、神にて在す父及び主イエズス、キリストに在るテサロニケ人の教會に[書簡を贈る]。

2 We always give thanks to God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers,

願はくは恩寵と平安とを汝等に賜はらんことを。我等は常に汝等一同の為に神に感謝し奉り、祈祷の中に汝等を記念して、

3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus (the) Messiah, before our God and Father.

絶間なく我父にて在す神の御前に於て、汝等の信仰の業と、愛の勞苦と、我主イエズス、キリストに於る希望の不退転なる事とを記憶す。

4 We know, brothers loved by God, that you are chosen,

神に愛せられ奉る兄弟等よ、我等は汝等が選まれし次第を知れり。

5 and that our gospel came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance. You know what kind of persons we showed ourselves to be among you for your sake.

即ち我等の福音は、汝等に於て唯言のみに止らず、能力及び聖霊によりて全き確信を獲たりき、我等が汝等の中に在りて、汝等の為に如何なる者なりしかは、汝等の知れる所の如し。

6 You became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

汝等も亦大いなる患難に在りながら、聖霊の喜を以て言を受けて、我等と主とを學ぶ者と成り、

7 so that you became an example to all who believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.

マケドニア[州]及びアカヤ[州]に於る一切の信者の模範たるに至れり。

8 For from you the word of the Lord has been declared, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone out; so that we do not need to say anything.

蓋主の御言は、汝等よりしてマケドニア及びアカヤに響きしのみならず、神に於る汝等の信仰[の風評]何處にも行渡りたれば、我等は何事をも言ふを要せず、

9 For they themselves report concerning us what kind of a reception we had from you; and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God,

即ち彼等自ら我々の事を語り、我等が汝等の中に入りし次第、又汝等が偶像を去りて神に歸依し、活き給へる眞の神に事へ奉り、

10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.

死者の中より復活せしめ給ひし其御子、即ち來る怒より我等を救ひ給ひしイエズスの、天より降り給ふを待てる次第を吹聴するなり。
