2 Kings 16

1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

En la dix-septième année de Phacée, fils de Romélie, régna Achaz, fils de Joatham, roi de Juda,

2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not do that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah his God, like David his father.

Achaz avait vingt ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem: il ne fit point ce qui était agréable en la présence du Seigneur son Dieu, comme David son père;

3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yes, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations, whom Jehovah cast out from before the children of Israel.

Mais il marcha dans la voie des rois d’Israël; de plus il consacra même son fils, le faisant passer par le feu, selon le culte des idoles des nations qu’avait dissipées le Seigneur devant les enfants d’Israël.

4 He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

Il immolait aussi des victimes, et offrait de l’encens sur les hauts lieux, sur les collines, et sous tout arbre couvert de feuillage.

5 Then Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

Alors Rasin, roi de Syrie, et Phacée, fils de Romélie, roi d’Israël, montèrent à Jérusalem pour livrer bataille, et quoiqu’ils tinssent Achaz assiégé, ils ne purent pas le vaincre.

6 At that time Rezin king of Aram recovered Eilat to Aram, and drove the Jews from Eilat; and the Arameans came to Eilat, and lived there, to this day.

En ce temps-là, Rasin, roi de Syrie, rendit Aila à la Syrie, et chassa les Juifs d’Aila; et les Iduméens vinrent à Aila, et ils y ont habité jusqu’à ce jour.

7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son. Come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me."

Alors Achaz envoya des messagers à Théglathphalasar, roi des Assyriens, disant: Je suis votre serviteur et votre fils; montez, sauvez-moi de la main du roi de Syrie et de la main du roi d’Israël, qui se sont levés ensemble contre moi.

8 Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

Et ayant amassé l’argent et l’or qui put être trouvé dans la maison du Seigneur et dans les trésors du roi, il envoya au roi des Assyriens des présents.

9 The king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin.

Celui-ci acquiesça à sa volonté: le roi des Assyriens, en effet, monta à Damas, et la ravagea; il en transféra les habitants à Cyrène, mais il tua Rasin.

10 King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and its pattern, according to all its workmanship.

Alors le roi Achaz alla à la rencontre de Théglathphalasar, roi des Assyriens, à Damas; et lorsqu’il eut vu l’autel de Damas, le roi Achaz en envoya au prêtre Urie le modèle et la représentation d’après tout le travail de cet autel.

11 Urijah the priest built an altar: according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it for the coming of king Ahaz from Damascus.

Urie, le prêtre, construisit donc l’autel; selon tout ce que le roi Achaz avait ordonné de Damas, ainsi fit le prêtre Urie, jusqu’à ce que le roi Achaz vint de Damas.

12 When the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king drew near to the altar, and offered on it.

Et lorsque le roi fut venu de Damas, il vit cet autel, et il le révéra; puis il monta, et immola les holocaustes, et son sacrifice;

13 He burnt his burnt offering and his meal offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, on the altar.

Et il fit des libations, et répandit le sang des hosties pacifiques qu’il avait offertes sur l’autel.

14 The bronze altar, which was before Jehovah, he brought from the forefront of the house, from between his altar and the house of Jehovah, and put it on the north side of his altar.

Quant à l’autel d’airain qui était devant le Seigneur, il le transféra de devant la face du temple, de la place de l’autel et de la place du temple du Seigneur, et il le mit à côté de l’autel, vers l’aquilon.

15 King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, "On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meal offering, and the king's burnt offering, and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by."

Le roi Achaz ordonna aussi à Urie, le prêtre, disant: Offre sur le grand autel l’holocauste du matin et le sacrifice du soir, l’holocauste du roi et son sacrifice, l’holocauste de tout le peuple, leurs sacrifices et leurs libations; mais tout le sang des holocaustes et tout le sang des victimes, tu le répandras sur cet autel; et quant à l’autel d’airain, il sera préparé selon ma volonté.

16 Urijah the priest did so, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

Ainsi Urie, le prêtre, fit tout selon ce qu’avait ordonné le roi Achaz.

17 King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone.

Or le roi Achaz enleva les bases ciselées et le bassin qui était dessus, et il ôta la mer de dessus les bœufs d’airain, qui la soutenaient, et il la mit sur le pavé, qui était de pierre.

18 The covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry outside, turned he to the house of Jehovah, because of the king of Assyria.

Même le Musach du sabbat, qu’il avait bâti dans le temple, et l’entrée extérieure du roi, il les transporta dans le temple du Seigneur, à cause du roi des Assyriens.

19 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Mais le reste des actions d’Achaz, qu’il a faites, n’est-il pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda?

20 Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.

Et Achaz dormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli avec eux dans la cité de David, et Ezéchias, son fils, régna en sa place.
