1 Samuel 11
1 After about a month, Nahash the Ammonite came up and camped against Jabesh Gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you."
Ανέβη δε Νάας ο Αμμωνίτης και εστρατοπέδευσεν εναντίον της Ιαβείς-γαλαάδ· και είπον πάντες οι άνδρες της Ιαβείς εις τον Νάας, Κάμε συνθήκην προς ημάς, και θέλομεν σε δουλεύει.
2 And Nahash the Ammonite said to them, "On this condition I will make a covenant with you, that all your right eyes are put out; and I will make it a disgrace on all Israel."
Και είπε προς αυτούς Νάας ο Αμμωνίτης, Με τούτο θέλω κάμει συνθήκην προς εσάς, να εξορύξω πάντας τους δεξιούς οφθαλμούς σας, και να βάλω τούτο όνειδος επί πάντα τον Ισραήλ.
3 The elders of Jabesh said to him, "Give us seven days, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel; and then, if there is no one to save us, we will come out to you."
Και είπον προς αυτόν οι πρεσβύτεροι της Ιαβείς, Δος εις ημάς επτά ημερών αναβολήν, διά να αποστείλωμεν μηνυτάς εις πάντα τα όρια του Ισραήλ· και τότε, εάν δεν ήναι τις να μας σώση, θέλομεν εξέλθει προς σε.
4 Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
Ήλθον λοιπόν οι μηνυταί εις Γαβαά του Σαούλ και είπον τους λόγους εις τα ώτα του λαού· και ύψωσαν πας ο λαός την φωνήν αυτών και έκλαυσαν.
5 Look, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, "What ails the people that they weep?" They told him the words of the men of Jabesh.
Και ιδού, ο Σαούλ ήρχετο κατόπιν της αγέλης εκ του αγρού· και είπεν ο Σαούλ, Τι έχει ο λαός και κλαίει; Και διηγήθησαν προς αυτόν τους λόγους των ανδρών της Ιαβείς.
6 The Spirit of God came mightily on Saul when he heard those words, and his anger was kindled greatly.
Και επήλθεν επί τον Σαούλ πνεύμα Θεού, ότε ήκουσε τους λόγους εκείνους· και εξήφθη η οργή αυτού σφόδρα.
7 He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, "Whoever doesn't come forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen." The dread of Jehovah fell on the people, and they came out as one man.
Και έλαβε ζεύγος βοών, και κατακόψας αυτούς εις τμήματα, απέστειλεν αυτά κατά πάντα τα όρια του Ισραήλ διά χειρός μηνυτών, λέγων, Όστις δεν εξέλθη κατόπιν του Σαούλ και κατόπιν του Σαμουήλ, ούτω θέλει γείνει εις τους βόας αυτού. Και επέπεσε φόβος Κυρίου επί τον λαόν, και εξήλθον ως εις άνθρωπος.
8 He numbered them in Bezek; and the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
Και ότε απηρίθμησεν αυτούς εν Βεζέκ, οι υιοί Ισραήλ ήσαν τριακόσιαι χιλιάδες και οι άνδρες Ιούδα τριάκοντα χιλιάδες.
9 And he said to the messengers who came, "Thus you shall tell the men of Jabesh Gilead, 'Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.'" The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
Και είπον προς τους ελθόντας μηνυτάς, Ούτω θέλετε ειπεί προς τους άνδρας της Ιαβείς-γαλαάδ· Αύριον, καθώς ο ήλιος θερμάνη, θέλει είσθαι εις εσάς σωτηρία. Και ήλθον οι μηνυταί και ανήγγειλαν προς τους άνδρας της Ιαβείς· και υπερεχάρησαν.
10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you."
Και είπον οι άνδρες της Ιαβείς, Αύριον θέλομεν εξέλθει προς εσάς, και θέλετε κάμει εις ημάς παν ό, τι σας φαίνεται καλόν.
11 It was so on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.
Και την επαύριον διήρεσεν ο Σαούλ τον λαόν εις τρία τάγματα· και εισήλθον εις το μέσον του στρατοπέδου, εν τη πρωϊνή φυλακή, και επάταξαν τους Αμμωνίτας εωσού θερμάνη η ημέρα· και οι εναπολειφθέντες διεσκορπίσθησαν, ώστε ουδέ δύο εξ αυτών δεν έμειναν ηνωμένοι.
12 The people said to Samuel, "Who is he who said, 'Shall Saul reign over us?' Bring those men, that we may put them to death."
Και είπεν ο λαός προς τον Σαμουήλ, Τις είναι εκείνος όστις είπεν, Ο Σαούλ θέλει βασιλεύσει εφ' ημάς; παραδώσατε τους άνδρας, διά να θανατώσωμεν αυτούς.
13 Saul said, "There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today Jehovah has worked deliverance in Israel."
Και είπεν ο Σαούλ, Δεν θέλει θανατωθή ουδείς την ημέραν ταύτην· διότι σήμερον έκαμεν ο Κύριος σωτηρίαν εν τω Ισραήλ.
14 Then Samuel said to the people, "Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there."
Τότε είπεν ο Σαμουήλ προς τον λαόν, Έλθετε, και ας υπάγωμεν εις Γάλγαλα και ας εγκαινίσωμεν εκεί την βασιλείαν.
15 All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Jehovah in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before Jehovah; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
Και υπήγε πας ο λαός εις Γάλγαλα· και εκεί έκαμον τον Σαούλ βασιλέα ενώπιον του Κυρίου εν Γαλγάλοις· και εκεί εθυσίασαν θυσίας ειρηνικάς ενώπιον του Κυρίου· και εκεί ευφράνθησαν ο Σαούλ και πάντες οι άνδρες Ισραήλ σφόδρα.
