Romans 1

1 Paul, a servant of Meshikha Yeshua, called to be an apostle, set apart for the Good News of God,

キリスト・イエスの僕、神の福音のために選び別たれ、召されて使徒となったパウロから

2 which he promised before through his prophets in the holy Scriptures,

この福音は、神が、預言者たちにより、聖書の中で、あらかじめ約束されたものであって、

3 concerning his Son, who was born of the offspring of Dawid according to the flesh,

御子に関するものである。御子は、肉によればダビデの子孫から生れ、

4 who was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Rukha of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Yeshua Meshikha our Lord,

聖なる霊によれば、死人からの復活により、御力をもって神の御子と定められた。これがわたしたちの主イエス・キリストである。

5 through whom we received grace and the office of apostle, for obedience of faith among all the nations, for his name's sake;

わたしたちは、その御名のために、すべての異邦人を信仰の従順に至らせるようにと、彼によって恵みと使徒の務とを受けたのであり、

6 among whom you are also called to belong to Yeshua Meshikha;

あなたがたもまた、彼らの中にあって、召されてイエス・キリストに属する者となったのである

7 to all who are in Rome, loved by God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua Meshikha.

ローマにいる、神に愛され、召された聖徒一同へ。わたしたちの父なる神および主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。

8 First, I thank my God through Yeshua Meshikha for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.

まず第一に、わたしは、あなたがたの信仰が全世界に言い伝えられていることを、イエス・キリストによって、あなたがた一同のために、わたしの神に感謝する。

9 For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the Good News of his Son, how I constantly mention you

10 always in my prayers, requesting, if by any means now at last I may succeed by the will of God to come to you.

わたしは、祈のたびごとに、絶えずあなたがたを覚え、いつかは御旨にかなって道が開かれ、どうにかして、あなたがたの所に行けるようにと願っている。このことについて、わたしのためにあかしをして下さるのは、わたしが霊により、御子の福音を宣べ伝えて仕えている神である。

11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you;

わたしは、あなたがたに会うことを熱望している。あなたがたに霊の賜物を幾分でも分け与えて、力づけたいからである。

12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.

それは、あなたがたの中にいて、あなたがたとわたしとのお互の信仰によって、共に励まし合うためにほかならない。

13 Now I do not desire to have you unaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you, and was hindered so far, that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the other non-Jewish people.

兄弟たちよ。このことを知らずにいてもらいたくない。わたしはほかの異邦人の間で得たように、あなたがたの間でも幾分かの実を得るために、あなたがたの所に行こうとしばしば企てたが、今まで妨げられてきた。

14 I have an obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.

わたしには、ギリシヤ人にも未開の人にも、賢い者にも無知な者にも、果すべき責任がある。

15 So, for my part, I am eager to preach the Good News to you also who are in Rome.

そこで、わたしとしての切なる願いは、ローマにいるあなたがたにも、福音を宣べ伝えることなのである。

16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.

わたしは福音を恥としない。それは、ユダヤ人をはじめ、ギリシヤ人にも、すべて信じる者に、救を得させる神の力である。

17 For in it is revealed God's righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, "But the righteous shall live by faith."

神の義は、その福音の中に啓示され、信仰に始まり信仰に至らせる。これは、「信仰による義人は生きる」と書いてあるとおりである。

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people, who suppress the truth by unrighteousness,

神の怒りは、不義をもって真理をはばもうとする人間のあらゆる不信心と不義とに対して、天から啓示される。

19 because what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.

なぜなら、神について知りうる事がらは、彼らには明らかであり、神がそれを彼らに明らかにされたのである。

20 For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made. So they are without excuse. (aïdios g126)

神の見えない性質、すなわち、神の永遠の力と神性とは、天地創造このかた、被造物において知られていて、明らかに認められるからである。したがって、彼らには弁解の余地がない。 (aïdios g126)

21 Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened.

なぜなら、彼らは神を知っていながら、神としてあがめず、感謝もせず、かえってその思いはむなしくなり、その無知な心は暗くなったからである。

22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

彼らは自ら知者と称しながら、愚かになり、

23 and traded the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal humans, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and crawling creatures.

不朽の神の栄光を変えて、朽ちる人間や鳥や獣や這うものの像に似せたのである。

24 Therefore God also abandoned them in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves,

ゆえに、神は、彼らが心の欲情にかられ、自分のからだを互にはずかしめて、汚すままに任せられた。

25 who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (aiōn g165)

彼らは神の真理を変えて虚偽とし、創造者の代りに被造物を拝み、これに仕えたのである。創造者こそ永遠にほむべきものである、アァメン。 (aiōn g165)

26 For this reason, God abandoned them to their degrading passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature.

それゆえ、神は彼らを恥ずべき情欲に任せられた。すなわち、彼らの中の女は、その自然の関係を不自然なものに代え、

27 Likewise also the men, giving up natural relations with women, burned in their lust toward one another, men with men, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error.

男もまた同じように女との自然の関係を捨てて、互にその情欲の炎を燃やし、男は男に対して恥ずべきことをなし、そしてその乱行の当然の報いを、身に受けたのである。

28 Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God abandoned them to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not right;

そして、彼らは神を認めることを正しいとしなかったので、神は彼らを正しからぬ思いにわたし、なすべからざる事をなすに任せられた。

29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil habits, secret slanderers,

すなわち、彼らは、あらゆる不義と悪と貪欲と悪意とにあふれ、ねたみと殺意と争いと詐欺と悪念とに満ち、また、ざん言する者、

30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

そしる者、神を憎む者、不遜な者、高慢な者、大言壮語する者、悪事をたくらむ者、親に逆らう者となり、

31 foolish, promise-breakers, heartless, unforgiving, unmerciful;

無知、不誠実、無情、無慈悲な者となっている。

32 who, knowing the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.

彼らは、こうした事を行う者どもが死に価するという神の定めをよく知りながら、自らそれを行うばかりではなく、それを行う者どもを是認さえしている。
