John 12
1 Then six days before the Passover, Yeshua came to Beth-Naiya, where Leayzar was, whom Yeshua raised from the dead.
イエスは過越の祭りの六日前にベタニヤに来られた。そこには、イエスが死人の中からよみがえらせたラザロがいた。
2 So they prepared a dinner for him there; and Marta served, but Leayzar was one of those reclining at the table with him.
人々はイエスのために、そこに晩餐を用意した。そしてマルタは給仕していた。ラザロは、イエスとともに食卓に着いている人々の中に混じっていた。
3 Maryam, therefore, took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Yeshua, and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.
マリヤは、非常に高価な、純粋なナルドの香油三百グラムを取って、イエスの足に塗り、彼女の髪の毛でイエスの足をぬぐった。家は香油のかおりでいっぱいになった。
4 Then Yehudah Sekariuta, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,
ところが、弟子のひとりで、イエスを裏切ろうとしているイスカリオテ・ユダが言った。
5 "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor?"
「なぜ、この香油を三百デナリに売って、貧しい人々に施さなかったのか。」
6 Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.
しかしこう言ったのは、彼が貧しい人々のことを心にかけていたからではなく、彼は盗人であって、金入れを預かっていたが、その中に収められたものを、いつも盗んでいたからである。
7 But Yeshua said, "Leave her alone, that she may keep this for the day of my burial.
イエスは言われた。「そのままにしておきなさい。マリヤはわたしの葬りの日のために、それを取っておこうとしていたのです。
8 For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me."
あなたがたは、貧しい人々とはいつもいっしょにいるが、わたしとはいつもいっしょにいるわけではないからです。」
9 A large crowd therefore of the Yehudeans learned that he was there, and they came, not for Yeshua's sake only, but that they might see Leayzar also, whom he had raised from the dead.
大ぜいのユダヤ人の群れが、イエスがそこにおられることを聞いて、やって来た。それはただイエスのためだけではなく、イエスによって死人の中からよみがえったラザロを見るためでもあった。
10 But the chief priests plotted to kill Leayzar also,
祭司長たちはラザロも殺そうと相談した。
11 because on account of him many of the Jewish people went away and believed in Yeshua.
それは、彼のために多くのユダヤ人が去って行き、イエスを信じるようになったからである。
12 On the next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Yeshua was coming to Urishlim,
その翌日、祭りに来ていた大ぜいの人の群れは、イエスがエルサレムに来ようとしておられると聞いて、
13 they took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and were shouting, "Ushanna. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israyel."
しゅろの木の枝を取って、出迎えのために出て行った。そして大声で叫んだ。 「ホサナ。 祝福あれ。 主の御名によって来られる方に。 イスラエルの王に。」
14 And Yeshua, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,
イエスは、ろばの子を見つけて、それに乗られた。それは次のように書かれているとおりであった。
15 "Do not be afraid, daughter of Tsehyun. Look, your King comes, sitting on a donkey's colt."
「恐れるな。シオンの娘。 見よ。あなたの王が来られる。 ろばの子に乗って。」
16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Yeshua was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.
初め、弟子たちにはこれらのことがわからなかった。しかし、イエスが栄光を受けられてから、これらのことがイエスについて書かれたことであって、人々がそのとおりにイエスに対して行なったことを、彼らは思い出した。
17 The crowd therefore that was with him when he called Leayzar out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, was testifying about it.
イエスがラザロを墓から呼び出し、死人の中からよみがえらせたときにイエスといっしょにいた大ぜいの人々は、そのことのあかしをした。
18 For this cause also the crowd went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.
そのために群衆もイエスを出迎えた。イエスがこれらのしるしを行なわれたことを聞いたからである。
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "See how you accomplish nothing. Look, the whole world has gone after him."
そこで、パリサイ人たちは互いに言った。「どうしたのだ。何一つうまくいっていない。見なさい。世はあげてあの人のあとについて行ってしまった。」
20 Now there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast.
さて、祭りのとき礼拝のために上って来た人々の中に、ギリシヤ人が幾人かいた。
21 These, therefore, came to Philipus, who was from Beth-Sayada of Galila, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we want to see Yeshua."
この人たちがガリラヤのベツサイダの人であるピリポのところに来て、「先生。イエスにお目にかかりたいのですが。」と言って頼んだ。
22 Philipus came and told Andreus, and in turn, Andreus came with Philipus, and they told Yeshua.
ピリポは行ってアンデレに話し、アンデレとピリポとは行って、イエスに話した。
23 And Yeshua answered them, "The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
すると、イエスは彼らに答えて言われた。「人の子が栄光を受けるその時が来ました。
24 Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
まことに、まことに、あなたがたに告げます。一粒の麦がもし地に落ちて死ななければ、それは一つのままです。しかし、もし死ねば、豊かな実を結びます。
25 He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
自分のいのちを愛する者はそれを失い、この世でそのいのちを憎む者はそれを保って永遠のいのちに至るのです。 (aiōnios g166)
26 If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
わたしに仕えるというのなら、その人はわたしについて来なさい。わたしがいる所に、わたしに仕える者もいるべきです。もしわたしに仕えるなら、父はその人に報いてくださいます。
27 "Now my soul is troubled; and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour?' But for this cause I came to this hour.
今わたしの心は騒いでいる。何と言おうか。『父よ。この時からわたしをお救いください。』と言おうか。いや。このためにこそ、わたしはこの時に至ったのです。
28 Father, glorify your name." Then there came a voice out of the sky, saying, "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."
父よ。御名の栄光を現わしてください。」そのとき、天から声が聞こえた。「わたしは栄光をすでに現わしたし、またもう一度栄光を現わそう。」
29 The crowd therefore, who stood by and heard it, said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to him."
そばに立っていてそれを聞いた群衆は、雷が鳴ったのだと言った。ほかの人々は、「御使いがあの方に話したのだ。」と言った。
30 Yeshua answered, "This voice hasn't come for my sake, but for your sakes.
イエスは答えて言われた。「この声が聞こえたのは、わたしのためにではなくて、あなたがたのためにです。
31 Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.
今がこの世のさばきです。今、この世を支配する者は追い出されるのです。
32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw everyone to myself."
わたしが地上から上げられるなら、わたしはすべての人を自分のところに引き寄せます。」
33 But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
イエスは自分がどのような死に方で死ぬかを示して、このことを言われたのである。
34 The crowd answered him, "We have heard out of the law that the Meshikha remains forever. Then how can you say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up?' Who is this Son of Man?" (aiōn g165)
そこで、群衆はイエスに答えた。「私たちは、律法で、キリストはいつまでも生きておられると聞きましたが、どうしてあなたは、人の子は上げられなければならない、と言われるのですか。その人の子とはだれですか。」 (aiōn g165)
35 Yeshua therefore said to them, "Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness does not overtake you. He who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.
イエスは彼らに言われた。「まだしばらくの間、光はあなたがたの間にあります。やみがあなたがたを襲うことのないように、あなたがたは、光がある間に歩きなさい。やみの中を歩く者は、自分がどこに行くのかわかりません。
36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light." Yeshua said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.
あなたがたに光がある間に、光の子どもとなるために、光を信じなさい。」 イエスは、これらのことをお話しになると、立ち去って、彼らから身を隠された。
37 But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they did not believe in him,
イエスが彼らの目の前でこのように多くのしるしを行なわれたのに、彼らはイエスを信じなかった。
38 that the word of Eshaya the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"
それは、「主よ。だれが私たちの知らせを信じましたか。また主の御腕はだれに現わされましたか。」と言った預言者イザヤのことばが成就するためであった。
39 For this cause they could not believe, for Eshaya said again,
彼らが信じることができなかったのは、イザヤがまた次のように言ったからである。
40 He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.
「主は彼らの目を盲目にされた。また、彼らの心をかたくなにされた。それは、彼らが目で見、心で理解し、回心し、そしてわたしが彼らをいやす、ということがないためである。」
41 Eshaya said these things because he saw his glory, and spoke of him.
イザヤがこう言ったのは、イザヤがイエスの栄光を見たからで、イエスをさして言ったのである。
42 Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue,
しかし、それにもかかわらず、指導者たちの中にもイエスを信じる者がたくさんいた。ただ、パリサイ人たちをはばかって、告白はしなかった。会堂から追放されないためであった。
43 for they loved praise from people more than praise from God.
彼らは、神からの栄誉よりも、人の栄誉を愛したからである。
44 Then Yeshua shouted out and said, "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.
また、イエスは大声で言われた。「わたしを信じる者は、わたしではなく、わたしを遣わした方を信じるのです。
45 And he who sees me sees him who sent me.
また、わたしを見る者は、わたしを遣わした方を見るのです。
46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.
わたしは光として世に来ました。わたしを信じる者が、だれもやみの中にとどまることのないためです。
47 And if anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
だれかが、わたしの言うことを聞いてそれを守らなくても、わたしはその人をさばきません。わたしは世をさばくために来たのではなく、世を救うために来たからです。
48 He who rejects me, and does not accept my words, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him on the last day.
わたしを拒み、わたしの言うことを受け入れない者には、その人をさばくものがあります。わたしが話したことばが、終わりの日にその人をさばくのです。
49 For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
わたしは、自分から話したのではありません。わたしを遣わした父ご自身が、わたしが何を言い、何を話すべきかをお命じになりました。
