Isaiah 14
1 For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land. The foreigner will join himself with them, and they will unite with the house of Jacob.
主はヤコブをあわれみ、イスラエルを再び選んで、これをおのれの地に置かれる。異邦人はこれに加わって、ヤコブの家に結びつらなり、
2 The peoples will take them, and bring them to their place. The house of Israel will possess them in the LORD's land for servants and for handmaids. They will take as captives those whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
もろもろの民は彼らを連れてその所に導いて来る。そしてイスラエルの家は、主の地で彼らを男女の奴隷とし、さきに自分たちを捕虜にした者を捕虜にし、自分たちをしえたげた者を治める。
3 It will happen in the day that the LORD will give you rest from your sorrow, from your trouble, and from the hard service in which you were made to serve,
主があなたの苦労と不安とを除き、またあなたが服した苦役を除いて、安息をお与えになるとき、
4 that you will take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, "How the oppressor has ceased. How the attacker has ceased."
あなたはこのあざけりの歌をとなえ、バビロンの王をののしって言う、「あの、しえたげる者は全く絶えてしまった。あの、おごる者は全く絶えてしまった。
5 The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,
主は悪い者のつえと、つかさびとの笏を折られた。
6 who struck the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, who ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained.
彼らは憤りをもってもろもろの民を絶えず撃っては打ち、怒りをもってもろもろの国を治めても、そのしえたげをとどめる者がなかった。
7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet. They break out song.
全地はやすみを得、穏やかになり、ことごとく声をあげて歌う。
8 Yes, the fir trees rejoice with you, with the cedars of Lebanon, saying, "Since you are humbled, no lumberjack has come up against us."
いとすぎおよびレバノンの香柏でさえもあなたのゆえに喜んで言う、『あなたはすでに倒れたので、もはや、きこりが上ってきて、われわれを攻めることはない』。
9 Sheol from beneath has moved for you to meet you at your coming. It stirs up the dead for you, even all the rulers of the earth. It has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (Sheol h7585)
下の陰府はあなたのために動いて、あなたの来るのを迎え、地のもろもろの指導者たちの亡霊をあなたのために起し、国々のもろもろの王をその王座から立ちあがらせる。 (Sheol h7585)
10 They all will answer and ask you, "Have you also become as weak as we are? Have you become like us?"
彼らは皆あなたに告げて言う、『あなたもまたわれわれのように弱くなった、あなたもわれわれと同じようになった』。
11 Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, with the sound of your stringed instruments. Maggots are spread out under you, and worms cover you. (Sheol h7585)

12 How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn. How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low.
黎明の子、明けの明星よ、あなたは天から落ちてしまった。もろもろの国を倒した者よ、あなたは切られて地に倒れてしまった。
13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend into heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mountain of assembly, in the far north.
あなたはさきに心のうちに言った、『わたしは天にのぼり、わたしの王座を高く神の星の上におき、北の果なる集会の山に座し、
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds. I will make myself like the Most High."
雲のいただきにのぼり、いと高き者のようになろう』。

16 Those who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying, "Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms;
あなたを見る者はつくづくあなたを見、あなたに目をとめて言う、『この人は地を震わせ、国々を動かし、
17 who made the world like a wilderness, and overthrew its cities; who did not release his prisoners to their home?"
世界を荒野のようにし、その都市をこわし、捕えた者をその家に解き帰さなかった者であるのか』。
18 All the kings of the nations lie in splendor, everyone in his own house.
もろもろの国の王たちは皆尊いさまで、自分の墓に眠る。
19 But you are cast away from your tomb like an abominable branch, clothed with the slain, who are thrust through with the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit; like a dead body trodden under foot.
しかしあなたは忌みきらわれる月足らぬ子のように墓のそとに捨てられ、つるぎで刺し殺された者でおおわれ、踏みつけられる死体のように穴の石に下る。
20 You will not join them in burial, because you have destroyed your land. You have killed your people. The offspring of evildoers will not be mentioned forever.
あなたは自分の国を滅ぼし、自分の民を殺したために、彼らと共に葬られることはない。どうか、悪を行う者の子孫はとこしえに名を呼ばれることのないように。
21 Prepare for slaughter of his children because of the iniquity of their fathers, that they not rise up and possess the earth, and fill the surface of the world with cities.
先祖のよこしまのゆえに、その子孫のためにほふり場を備えよ。これは彼らが起って地を取り、世界のおもてに町々を満たすことのないためである」。
22 "I will rise up against them," says the LORD of hosts, "and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and son and son's son," says the LORD.

23 "I will also make it a possession for the porcupine, and pools of water. I will sweep it with the broom of destruction," says the LORD of hosts.

24 The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, "Surely, as I have thought, so shall it happen; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
万軍の主は誓って言われる、「わたしが思ったように必ず成り、わたしが定めたように必ず立つ。
25 that I will break the Assyrian in my land, and tread him under foot on my mountains. Then his yoke will leave them, and his burden leave their shoulders.
わたしはアッスリヤびとをわが地で打ち破り、わが山々で彼を踏みにじる。こうして彼が置いたくびきはイスラエルびとから離れ、彼が負わせた重荷はイスラエルびとの肩から離れる」。
26 This is the plan that is determined for the whole earth. This is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations.
これは全地について定められた計画である。これは国々の上に伸ばされた手である。
27 For the LORD of hosts has planned, and who can stop it? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?"
万軍の主が定められるとき、だれがそれを取り消すことができるのか。その手を伸ばされるとき、だれがそれを引きもどすことができるのか。
28 This burden was in the year that king Ahaz died.
アハズ王の死んだ年にこの託宣があった、
29 Do not rejoice, O Philistia, all of you, because the rod that struck you is broken; for out of the serpent's root an adder will emerge, and his fruit will be a fiery flying serpent.
「ペリシテの全地よ、あなたを打ったむちが折られたことを喜んではならない。へびの根からまむしが出、その実は飛びかけるへびとなるからだ。
30 The firstborn of the poor will eat, and the needy will lie down in safety; and I will kill your root with famine, and your remnant will be killed.
いと貧しい者は食を得、乏しい者は安らかに伏す。しかし、わたしはききんをもってあなたの子孫を殺し、あなたの残れる者を滅ぼす。
31 Howl, gate. Cry, city. You are melted away, Philistia, all of you; for smoke comes out of the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks.
門よ、泣きわめけ。町よ、叫べ。ペリシテの全地よ、恐れのあまり消えうせよ、北から煙が来るからだ。その隊列からは、ひとりも脱落する者はない」。
32 What then is one to answer the messengers of this nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people will take refuge.
その国の使者たちになんと答えようか。「主はシオンの基をおかれた、その民の苦しむ者はこの中に避け所を得る」と答えよ。
