1 Timothy 6
1 Let as many as are slaves under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine not be blasphemed.
くびきの下にある奴隷はすべて、自分の主人を、真に尊敬すべき者として仰ぐべきである。それは、神の御名と教とが、そしりを受けないためである。
2 Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
信者である主人を持っている者たちは、その主人が兄弟であるというので軽視してはならない。むしろ、ますます励んで仕えるべきである。その益を受ける主人は、信者であり愛されている人だからである。あなたは、これらの事を教えかつ勧めなさい。
3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine, and does not consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,
もし違ったことを教えて、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの健全な言葉、ならびに信心にかなう教に同意しないような者があれば、
4 he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
彼は高慢であって、何も知らず、ただ論議と言葉の争いとに病みついている者である。そこから、ねたみ、争い、そしり、さいぎの心が生じ、
5 constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
また知性が腐って、真理にそむき、信心を利得と心得る者どもの間に、はてしのないいがみ合いが起るのである。
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
しかし、信心があって足ることを知るのは、大きな利得である。
7 For we brought nothing into the world, so neither can we carry anything out.
わたしたちは、何ひとつ持たないでこの世にきた。また、何ひとつ持たないでこの世を去って行く。
8 But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.
ただ衣食があれば、それで足れりとすべきである。
9 But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as plunge people into ruin and destruction.
富むことを願い求める者は、誘惑と、わなとに陥り、また、人を滅びと破壊とに沈ませる、無分別な恐ろしいさまざまの情欲に陥るのである。
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
金銭を愛することは、すべての悪の根である。ある人々は欲ばって金銭を求めたため、信仰から迷い出て、多くの苦痛をもって自分自身を刺しとおした。
11 But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.
しかし、神の人よ。あなたはこれらの事を避けなさい。そして、義と信心と信仰と愛と忍耐と柔和とを追い求めなさい。
12 Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold of the everlasting life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
信仰の戦いをりっぱに戦いぬいて、永遠のいのちを獲得しなさい。あなたは、そのために召され、多くの証人の前で、りっぱなあかしをしたのである。 (aiōnios g166)
13 I command you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Meshikha Yeshua, who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession,
わたしはすべてのものを生かして下さる神のみまえと、またポンテオ・ピラトの面前でりっぱなあかしをなさったキリスト・イエスのみまえで、あなたに命じる。
14 that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha;
わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの出現まで、その戒めを汚すことがなく、また、それを非難のないように守りなさい。
15 which in its own times he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
時がくれば、祝福に満ちた、ただひとりの力あるかた、もろもろの王の王、もろもろの主の主が、キリストを出現させて下さるであろう。
16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no human has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
神はただひとり不死を保ち、近づきがたい光の中に住み、人間の中でだれも見た者がなく、見ることもできないかたである。ほまれと永遠の支配とが、神にあるように、アァメン。 (aiōnios g166)
17 Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy; (aiōn g165)
この世で富んでいる者たちに、命じなさい。高慢にならず、たよりにならない富に望みをおかず、むしろ、わたしたちにすべての物を豊かに備えて楽しませて下さる神に、のぞみをおくように、 (aiōn g165)
18 that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
また、良い行いをし、良いわざに富み、惜しみなく施し、人に分け与えることを喜び、
19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of that which is truly life.
こうして、真のいのちを得るために、未来に備えてよい土台を自分のために築き上げるように、命じなさい。
20 Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;
テモテよ。あなたにゆだねられていることを守りなさい。そして、俗悪なむだ話と、偽りの「知識」による反対論とを避けなさい。
21 which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.
ある人々はそれに熱中して、信仰からそれてしまったのである。恵みが、あなたがたと共にあるように。
