1 Chronicles 10
1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.
Und [1. Sam. 31] die Philister stritten wider Israel; und die Männer von Israel flohen vor den Philistern, und Erschlagene fielen [O. und fielen erschlagen] auf dem Gebirge Gilboa.
2 The Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malkishua, the sons of Saul.
Und die Philister setzten Saul und seinen Söhnen hart nach; und die Philister erschlugen Jonathan und Abinadab und Malkischua, die Söhne Sauls.
3 The battle grew fierce against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was wounded by the archers.
Und der Streit wurde heftig wider Saul, und es erreichten ihn die Bogenschützen; und es wurde ihm angst vor den Schützen.
4 Then said Saul to his armor bearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and torture me." But his armor bearer would not, for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell on it.
Da sprach Saul zu seinem Waffenträger: Ziehe dein Schwert und durchbohre mich damit, daß nicht diese Unbeschnittenen kommen und mich mißhandeln! Sein Waffenträger aber wollte nicht, denn er fürchtete sich sehr. Da nahm Saul das Schwert und stürzte sich darein.
5 When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died.
Und als sein Waffenträger sah, daß Saul tot war, da stürzte auch er sich in das Schwert und starb.
6 So Saul died, and his three sons; and all his house died together.
So starben Saul und seine drei Söhne; und sein ganzes Haus starb zugleich.
7 When all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook their cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.
Und als alle Männer von Israel, die im Tale [S. die Anm. zu 1. Sam. 31,7] waren, sahen, daß sie geflohen und daß Saul und seine Söhne tot waren, da verließen sie ihre Städte und flohen; und die Philister kamen und wohnten darin.
8 It happened on the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
Und es geschah am folgenden Tage, da kamen die Philister, um die Erschlagenen auszuziehen; und sie fanden Saul und seine Söhne auf dem Gebirge Gilboa liegen.
9 They stripped him, and took his head, and his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines all around, to carry the news to their idols, and to the people.
Und sie zogen ihn aus und nahmen seinen Kopf und seine Waffen; und sie sandten [O. und sandten sie] in das Land der Philister ringsumher, um die frohe Botschaft ihren Götzen und dem Volke zu verkünden.
10 They put his armor in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon.
Und sie legten seine Waffen in das Haus ihres Gottes, und seinen Schädel hefteten sie an das Haus Dagons.
11 When all the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
Als aber ganz Jabes-Gilead alles hörte, was die Philister mit Saul getan hatten,
12 all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
da machten sich alle tapferen Männer auf und nahmen den Leichnam Sauls und die Leichname seiner Söhne und brachten sie nach Jabes; und sie begruben ihre Gebeine unter der Terebinthe zu Jabes und fasteten sieben Tage.
13 So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD, which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire thereby,
Und so starb Saul wegen seiner [O. durch seine] Treulosigkeit, die er wider Jehova begangen, betreffs des Wortes Jehovas, das er nicht beobachtet hatte, und auch weil er eine Totenbeschwörerin aufsuchte, um sie zu befragen;
14 and did not inquire of the LORD: therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.
aber Jehova befragte er nicht. Darum tötete er ihn und wandte das Königtum David, dem Sohne Isais, zu.
