< Luke 4 >

1 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, came back from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, all the time tempted by the devil.
UYesu amemile upepo uzelu, ahwelile afume hu Yordani, alongoziwe no pepo omuda ohwe nsiku arobaini mwipoli.
2 He ate nothing during these days, and at the close of them he was hungry.
Apete amalabha no shetani. Nensiku ezyo sagalyanga ahantu mpaka nazyamalishe alolile enzala.
3 The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God tell this stone to become bread."
Oshetani wabholankoli, “Mwana wa NGOLOBHE, libhole ihwe eli wahe libumnga.”
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written that not by bread alone shall man live."
UYesu agalula, “isimbwilwe: 'eyaje umntu sagaikhala hwibumunda tu.'”
5 And the devil led him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time, and the devil said to him.
Wizavwa pamwanya wabhonesya emilki zyonti ezyensi hudaka emo.
6 "To you will I give all this authority and this glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
Oshetani wabhola, “Embahupele ahweenzi ene yonti, nefahari yakwe. Afanaje ehweli makhono gane, nane ehupele yayonti neshe shensongwele.

8 "It is written," answered Jesus, "Thou shalt worship the Lord, thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."
UYesu wagalula wabhola isimbwilwe, “omwinamile, “OGOSI ONGOLOBHE waho ompute omwahale mwene.”
9 Then he brought him to Jerusalem, and caused him to stand upon the Temple roof, and said to him. "If you really are the Son of God throw yourself down here;

12 "It has been said," replied Jesus, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord, thy God."
OYesu wagalula, “Wabhashole, “eyagwilwe oganje hulenje GOSI ONGOLOBHE waho.”
13 So, after exhausting on him every kind of temptation, the devil left him for a time.

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying. "Be quiet! Come out of him." And when the demon had thrown the man down before them, he came out of him without doing him any harm.
