1 Corinthians 15
1 And I make known to you, brothers, the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you also received, in which you also have stood,
Je vous rappelle, frères, l'Évangile que je vous ai annoncé et que vous avez reçu, dans lequel aussi vous demeurez fermes,
2 through which you are also being saved, if you hold fast [to] the word—what I proclaimed as good news to you—unless you believed in vain.
et par lequel vous êtes sauvés, si vous le retenez tel que je vous l'ai annoncé. — autrement, vous auriez cru en vain!
3 For I delivered to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Writings,
En effet, je vous ai transmis, avant toutes choses, cet enseignement que j'ai reçu moi-même: c'est que Christ est mort pour nos péchés, selon les Écritures;
4 and that He was buried, and that He has risen on the third day according to the Writings,
il a été enseveli; il est ressuscité le troisième jour, selon les Écritures;
5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve,
il a été vu de Céphas, ensuite des Douze.
6 afterward He appeared to above five hundred brothers at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, and some also fell asleep;
Après cela, il a été vu, en une seule fois, de plus de cinq cents frères, dont la plupart sont encore vivants aujourd'hui, et dont quelques-uns sont morts.
7 afterward He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
Puis il a été vu de Jacques, et ensuite de tous les apôtres.
8 And last of all—as to the untimely birth—He also appeared to me,
Enfin, après eux tous, il s'est aussi fait voir à moi, comme à je ne sais quel avorton.
9 for I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the Assembly of God,
Car je suis le moindre des apôtres, moi qui ne suis pas digne d'être appelé apôtre, puisque j'ai persécuté l'Église de Dieu.
10 and by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace that [is] toward me did not come in vain, but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God that [is] with me;
Mais c'est par la grâce de Dieu que je suis ce que je suis, et la grâce qu'il m'a faite n'a pas été vaine. Au contraire, j'ai travaillé beaucoup plus qu'eux tous, non pas moi pourtant, mais la grâce de Dieu qui est avec moi.
11 whether, then, I or they, so we preach, and so you believed.
Ainsi donc, que ce soit moi, que ce soit eux, voilà ce que nous prêchons et ce que vous avez cru.
12 And if Christ is preached, that He has risen out of the dead, how [do] certain among you say that there is no resurrection of [the] dead?
Or, si l'on prêche que Christ est ressuscité des morts, comment quelques-uns d'entre vous peuvent-ils dire qu'il n'y a point de résurrection des morts?
13 And if there is no resurrection of [the] dead, neither has Christ risen;
S'il n'y a point de résurrection des morts. Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité.
14 and if Christ has not risen, then our preaching [is] void, and your faith [is] also void,
Et si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, notre prédication est donc vaine, et votre foi aussi est vaine.
15 and we are also found [to be] false witnesses of God, because we testified of God that He raised up the Christ, whom He did not raise if then dead persons do not rise;
Il se trouve même que nous sommes de faux témoins de Dieu, puisque nous avons témoigné, en contradiction avec Dieu, qu'il a ressuscité le Christ, — tandis qu'il ne l'a pas ressuscité, s'il est vrai que les morts ne ressuscitent pas.
16 for if dead persons do not rise, neither has Christ risen,
En effet, si les morts ne ressuscitent pas. Christ n'est pas non plus ressuscité.
17 and if Christ has not risen, your faith is vain, you are yet in your sins;
Et si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, votre foi est vaine; vous êtes encore dans vos péchés.
18 then, also, those having fallen asleep in Christ perished;
Alors aussi, ceux qui se sont endormis en Christ sont à jamais perdus.
19 if we only have hope in Christ in this life, we are to be most pitied of all men.
Si nous n'avons d'espérance en Christ que pour cette vie seulement, nous sommes les plus misérables de tous les hommes!
20 And now, Christ has risen out of the dead—He became the first-fruits of those sleeping,
Mais maintenant, Christ est ressuscité des morts, et il est les prémices de ceux qui sont morts.
21 for since through man [is] death, also through Man [is] a resurrection of the dead,
En effet, puisque la mort est venue par un homme, c'est par un homme aussi qu'est venue la résurrection des morts.
22 for even as in Adam all die, so also in the Christ all will be made alive,
Comme tous meurent en Adam, de même tous revivront en Christ,
23 and each in his proper order: Christ, a first-fruit, afterward those who are the Christ’s in His coming,
mais chacun à son propre rang: Christ est les prémices; puis ceux qui sont à Christ ressusciteront à son avènement.
24 then—the end, when He may deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father, when He may have made all rule useless, and all authority and power.
Ensuite viendra la fin, quand il remettra le royaume à Dieu, le Père, après avoir détruit tout empire, toute domination et toute puissance;
25 For it is necessary for Him to reign until He may have put all the enemies under His feet.
car il faut qu'il règne, jusqu'à ce qu'il ait mis tous ses ennemis sous ses pieds.
26 The last enemy is done away with—death.
— L'ennemi qui sera détruit le dernier, c'est la mort. —
27 For He put all things under His feet, and when one may say that all things have been subjected, [it is] evident that He is excepted who subjected all things to Him,
Dieu, en effet, a mis toutes choses sous ses pieds; mais quand il est dit que toutes choses lui sont soumises, il est évident qu'il faut excepter Celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses.
28 and when all things may be subjected to Him, then also the Son Himself will be subject to Him, who subjected to Him all things, that God may be the all in all.
Puis, quand toutes choses lui auront été soumises, alors le Fils lui-même sera soumis à Celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses, afin que Dieu soit tout en tous.
29 Seeing what will they do who are immersed for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why are they also immersed for the dead?
Autrement, que feraient ceux qui se font baptiser pour les morts? Si absolument les morts ne ressuscitent pas, pourquoi se font-ils baptiser pour eux?
30 Why do we also stand in peril every hour?
Et pourquoi nous-mêmes sommes-nous à toute heure en péril?
31 I die every day, by the glorying of you that I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Je suis chaque jour exposé à la mort, aussi vrai, frères, que vous êtes pour moi un sujet de gloire en Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur.
32 If I fought with wild beasts in Ephesus after the manner of a man, what [is] the advantage to me if the dead do not rise? Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!
Si c'est dans des vues humaines que j'ai combattu contre les bêtes à Éphèse, quel avantage m'en revient-il? Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons!.
33 Do not be led astray; evil communications corrupt good manners;
Ne vous y trompez pas: les mauvaises compagnies corrompent les bonnes moeurs.
34 wake up, as is right, and do not sin; for some have an ignorance of God; I say [it] to you for shame.
Revenez à la raison, comme il convient, et ne péchez point; car il y en a qui n'ont aucune connaissance de Dieu, je le dis à votre honte.
35 But someone will say, “How do the dead rise?”
Mais quelqu'un dira: Comment les morts ressuscitent-ils, et avec quel corps reviennent-ils?
36 Unwise! You—what you sow is not quickened except it may die;
Insensé, ce que tu sèmes ne reprend pas vie, si d'abord il ne meurt.
37 and that which you sow, you do not sow the body that will be, but a bare grain, it may be of wheat, or of someone of the others,
Et quant à ce que tu sèmes, ce n'est pas le corps qui naîtra, que tu sèmes, mais un simple grain, de blé peut-être, ou de quelque autre semence.
38 and God gives a body to it according as He willed, and its proper body to each of the seeds.
Et Dieu lui donne le corps qu'il a trouvé bon de lui donner, à chaque semence le corps qui lui est propre.
39 All flesh [is] not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another of fishes, and another of birds;
Toute chair n'est pas la même chair; mais autre est la chair des hommes, autre la chair des bêtes, autre celle des oiseaux, autre celle des poissons.
40 and [there are] heavenly bodies and earthly bodies; but one [is] the glory of the heavenly, and another that of the earthly;
Il y a aussi des corps célestes et des corps terrestres; mais l'éclat des corps célestes est différent de celui des corps terrestres.
41 one glory of sun, and another glory of moon, and another glory of stars, for star differs from star in glory.
Autre est l'éclat du soleil, autre l'éclat de la lune, autre l'éclat des étoiles; et même une étoile diffère en éclat d'une autre étoile.
42 So also [is] the resurrection of the dead: it is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption;
Il en est ainsi de la résurrection des morts. Le corps est semé corruptible, il ressuscite incorruptible;
43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
il est semé méprisable, il ressuscite glorieux; il est semé infirme, il ressuscite plein de force;
44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body; there is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body;
il est semé corps animal, il ressuscite corps spirituel. S'il y a un corps animal, il y a aussi un corps spirituel;
45 so also it has been written: “The first man Adam became a living creature,” the last Adam [is] for a life-giving spirit,
c'est ainsi qu'il est écrit: «Le premier homme, Adam, a été fait âme vivante» Le dernier Adam est esprit vivifiant.
46 but that which is spiritual [is] not first, but that which [was] natural, afterward that which [is] spiritual.
Mais ce n'est pas ce qui est spirituel qui vient le premier, c'est ce qui est animal; ce qui est spirituel vient ensuite.
47 The first man [is] out of the earth—earthly; the second Man [is] the LORD out of Heaven;
Le premier homme, étant de la terre, est terrestre; le second homme est du ciel.
48 as [is] the earthly, such [are] also the earthly; and as [is] the heavenly, such [are] also the heavenly;
Tel est le terrestre, tels sont aussi les terrestres; tel est le céleste, tels sont aussi les célestes.
49 and according as we bore the image of the earthly, we will also bear the image of the heavenly.
Et comme nous avons porté l'image de celui qui est terrestre, nous porterons aussi l'image de celui qui est. céleste.
50 And this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood are not able to inherit the Kingdom of God, nor does the corruption inherit the incorruption.
Ce que j'affirme, frères, c'est que la chair et le sang ne peuvent hériter le royaume de Dieu, et que la corruption n'hérite point l'incorruptibilité.
51 Behold, I tell you a secret: we indeed will not all sleep, but we will all be changed;
Voici un mystère que je vous révèle: nous ne mourrons pas tous, mais tous nous serons changés,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, in the last trumpet, for it will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed;
en un instant, en un clin d'oeil, au son de la dernière trompette; car la trompette sonnera, et les morts ressusciteront incorruptibles, et nous serons changés.
53 for it is necessary for this corruptible to put on incorruption, and this mortal to put on immortality;
Il faut, en effet, que ce corps corruptible revête l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel revête l'immortalité.
54 and when this corruptible may have put on incorruption, and this mortal may have put on immortality, then will be brought to pass the word that has been written: “Death was swallowed up—to victory;
Et quand ce corps corruptible aura revêtu l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel aura revêtu l'immortalité, alors s'accomplira cette parole de l'Ecriture: «La mort a été engloutie dans la victoire.»
mort, où est ta victoire? mort, où est ton aiguillon? (Hadēs g86)
56 And the sting of death [is] sin, and the power of sin the Law;
Or, l'aiguillon de la mort, c'est le péché; et la puissance du péché, c'est la loi.
57 and to God—thanks, to Him who is giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ;
Mais grâces soient rendues à Dieu, qui nous donne la victoire par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ!
58 so that, my beloved brothers, become steadfast, unmovable, abounding in the work of the LORD at all times, knowing that your labor in the LORD is not vain.
Ainsi donc, mes frères bien-aimés, soyez fermes, inébranlables, et abondez toujours plus dans l'oeuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre travail n'est pas vain auprès du Seigneur.
