Zechariah 1

1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lord unto Zechariah, the son of Berechyah, the son of 'Iddo the prophet, saying,

No oitavo mês do segundo ano de Dario veio a palavra do Senhor ao profeta Zacarias, filho de Barachias, filho de Iddo, dizendo:

2 The Lord hath been greatly angry with your fathers.

O Senhor se irou por extremo contra vossos pais.

3 And [now] say thou unto them, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Return ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will return unto you: so hath said the Lord of hosts.

Portanto dize-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: tornai para mim, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, e eu tornarei para vós, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.

4 Be ye not like your fathers, unto whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Do return from your evil ways, and your evil doings; but they did not hear, nor listen unto me, saith the Lord.

E não sejais como vossos pais, aos quais gritavam os primeiros profetas, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Convertei-vos agora dos vossos maus caminhos e das vossas más obras; porém não ouviam, nem me escutavam, diz o Senhor.

5 Your fathers, —where are they! and the prophets, — could they live for ever!

Vossos pais, onde estão? e os profetas, viverão eles para sempre?

6 But my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, behold, they did overtake your fathers: and [then] they returned and said, Just as the Lord of hosts had purposed to do unto us, in accordance with our ways, and in accordance with our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

Contudo as minhas palavras e os meus estatutos, que eu mandei aos profetas, meus servos, não alcançaram a vossos pais? E eles tornaram, e disseram: Assim como o Senhor dos exércitos fez tenção de nos tratar, segundo os nossos caminhos, e segundo as nossas obras, assim ele nos tratou.

7 On the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lord unto Zechariah, the son of Berechyahu, the son of 'Iddo the prophet, saying,

Aos vinte e quatro dias do mês undécimo (que é o mês de Sebat), no segundo ano de Dario, veio a palavra do Senhor ao profeta Zacarias, filho de Barachias, filho de Iddo, dizendo:

8 I saw this night, and behold there was a man riding upon a red horse, and he was standing among the myrtle-trees that were in the deep valley; and behind him were red, pale, and white horses.

Vi de noite, e eis um homem montado num cavalo vermelho, e parava entre as murtas que estavam na profundeza, e atráz dele estavam cavalos vermelhos, morenos e brancos.

9 And I said, What are these, O my lord? Then said unto me the angel that spoke with me, I will show thee what these are.

E eu disse: Senhor meu, quem são estes? E disse-me o anjo que falava comigo: Eu te mostrarei quem estes são.

10 And the man that stood among the myrtle-trees answered and said, These are those whom the Lord hath sent to traverse the earth.

Então respondeu o homem que estava entre as murtas, e disse: Estes são os que o Senhor tem enviado para andarem pela terra.

11 And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood among the myrtle-trees, and said, We have traversed the earth, and, behold, all the earth is inhabited quietly, and is at rest.

E eles responderam ao anjo do Senhor, que estava entre as murtas, e disseram: Nós já andamos pela terra, e eis que toda a terra está assentada e quieta.

12 Then commenced the angel of the Lord, and said, O Lord of hosts, how long yet wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast been indignant these seventy years?

Então o anjo do Senhor respondeu, e disse: Ó Senhor dos exércitos, até quando não terás compaixão de Jerusalém, e das cidades de Judá, contra as quais estiveste irado estes setenta anos

13 And the Lord answered the angel that spoke with me with good words and comforting words.

E respondeu o Senhor ao anjo, que falava comigo, palavras boas, palavras consoladoras.

14 And the angel that spoke with me said unto me, Proclaim thou, saying, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

E o anjo que falava comigo me disse: Clama, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Com grande zelo estou zelando por Jerusalém e por Sião.

15 And with a great anger will I be angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little angry [with Zion], and they helped forward the mischief.

E com grandíssima ira estou irado contra as nações descançadas; porque eu estava pouco irado, mas eles auxiliaram o mal.

16 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, I am returned to Jerusalem in mercy: my house shall be rebuilt in it, saith the Lord of hosts, and the measuring-line shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem.

Portanto, o Senhor diz assim: Tornei-me a Jerusalém com misericórdia, a minha casa nela será edificada, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, e o cordel será estendido sobre Jerusalém.

17 Proclaim yet [farther], saying, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, My cities shall again overflow with prosperity: and the Lord will again comfort Zion, and make choice again of Jerusalem.

Clama mais, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: As minhas cidades ainda serão estendidas por causa do bem; porque o Senhor ainda consolará a Sião e ainda escolherá a Jerusalém.

18 And I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, there were four horns.

E levantei os meus olhos, e vi, e eis que vi quatro cornos.

19 And I said unto the angel who spoke with me, What are these? And he said unto me, These are the horns that have dispersed Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.

E eu disse ao anjo que falava comigo: Que são estes? E ele me disse: Estes são os poderes que espalharam a Judá, a Israel e a Jerusalém.

20 And the Lord showed me four carpenters.

E o Senhor me mostrou quatro ferreiros.

21 Then said I, What are these coming to do? And he said as followeth, These are the horns that have dispersed Judah, to the extent that no man could lift up his head; but these are come to terrify them, to cast off the horns of the nations, that have been lifting up their horn over the land of Judah to disperse it.

Então eu disse: Que veem estes fazer? E ele falou, dizendo: Estes são os poderes que espalharam a Jerusalém, de maneira que ninguém levantasse a sua cabeça; estes pois vieram para lhes meter medo, para derribarem os poderes das nações que levantaram o seu poder contra a terra de Judá, para a espalharem.
