Jeremiah 22
1 Thus said the Lord, Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word;
Assim diz o Senhor: Desce à casa do rei de Judá, e fala ali esta palavra.
2 And thou shalt say, Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:
E dize: Ouve a palavra do Senhor, ó rei de Judá, que te assentas no trono de David: tu, e os teus servos, e o teu povo, que entrais por estas portas.
3 Thus hath said the Lord, Execute ye justice and righteousness, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor; and the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow shall ye not oppress, and do them no violence, and shed no innocent blood in this place.
Assim diz o Senhor: Fazei juízo e justiça, e livrai o roubado da mão do opressor; e não oprimais ao estrangeiro, nem ao órfão, nem à viúva; não façais violência, nem derrameis sangue inocente neste lugar.
4 For if ye indeed will do this thing, then shall enter in through the gates of this house kings sitting after David upon his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
Porque, se deveras fizerdes esta palavra, entrarão pelas portas desta casa os reis que se assentam no lugar de David sobre o seu trono, em carros e montados em cavalos, eles, e os seus servos, e o seu povo.
5 But if ye will not hear these words, then do I swear by myself, saith the Lord, that this house shall become a ruin.
Porém, se não derdes ouvidos a estas palavras, por mim mesmo tenho jurado, diz o Senhor, que esta casa se tornará em assolação.
6 For thus hath said the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah, A Gil'ad [though] thou art unto me, a summit of the Lebanon: yet I will surely change thee into a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
Porque assim diz o Senhor acerca da casa do rei de Judá: Tu és para mim Gilead, e a altura do líbano: por certo que farei de ti um deserto e cidades desabitadas.
7 And I will make ready against thee destroyers, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down the choice of thy cedars, and cast them into the fire.
Porque prepararei contra ti destruidores, cada um com as suas armas: e cortarão os teus cedros escolhidos, e lança-los-ão no fogo.
8 And [when] many nations [then] pass by this city, they will say every man to his neighbor, Wherefore hath the Lord done the like unto this great city?
E muitas nações passarão por esta cidade, e dirá cada um ao seu companheiro: Porque obrou o Senhor assim com esta grande cidade?
9 Then shall they say, Because they had forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God, and bowed down unto other gods, and served them.
E dirão: Porque deixaram o concerto do Senhor seu Deus, e se inclinaram diante de deuses alheios, e os serviram.
10 Weep not for the dead, and do not bemoan him: weep sorely for him that goeth away; for he shall never return any more, and see the land of his birth.
Não choreis o morto, nem o lastimeis: chorai abundantemente aquele que sai, porque nunca mais tornará, nem verá a terra onde nasceu.
11 For thus hath said the Lord respecting Shallum the son of Josiah the king of Judah, who reigneth in the place of Josiah his father, who is gone forth out of this place, He shall never return thither any more;
Porque assim diz o Senhor acerca de Shallum, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que reinava em lugar de Josias seu pai, que saiu deste lugar: Nunca ali tornará mais.
12 But in the place whither they have led him into exile, there shall he die; but this land shall he not see any more.
Mas no lugar para onde o levaram cativo ali morrerá, e nunca mais verá esta terra.
13 Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice; that maketh his neighbor work without wages, and giveth him not the reward for his labor;
Ai daquele que edifica a sua casa com injustiça, e os seus aposentos sem razão, que se serve do serviço do seu próximo sem paga, e não lhe dá o salário do seu trabalho.
14 That saith, I will build me a roomy house, and ample chambers, and cutteth himself out windows, and ceileth it with cedar, and painteth it with colors.
Que diz: edificar-me-ei uma casa espaçosa, e aposentos largos: e lhe abre janelas, e está forrada de cedro, e pintada de vermelhão.
15 Shalt thou reign, because thou strivest to excel with cedar buildings? behold, thy father ate and drank, but he executed justice and righteousness: then was it well with him!
Porventura reinarás, porque te encerras em cedro? acaso teu pai não comeu e bebeu, e não usou de juízo e justiça? e então lhe sucedeu bem.
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then was it well: is not this the proper knowledge of me? saith the Lord.
Julgou a causa do aflito e necessitado; então lhe sucedeu bem; porventura não é isto conhecer-me? diz o Senhor.
17 But thy eyes and thy heart are directed on nothing but upon thy own gain, and upon innocent blood to shed it, and upon oppression, and upon extortion, to practise them.
Porém os teus olhos e o teu coração não atentam senão para a tua avareza, e para o sangue inocente, para derrama-lo, e para a opressão, e para a violência, para os levar a efeito.
18 Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning Jehoyakim the son of Josiah the king of Judah, They shall not lament for him, with, “Woe, my brother!” and, “Woe, sister!” they shall not lament for him, with “Woe, lord!” and, “Woe, to his glory!”
Portanto assim diz o Senhor acerca de Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá: Não lamentarão por ele, dizendo: Ai, irmão meu, ou, Ai, irmã minha! nem lamentarão por ele, dizendo: Ai, Senhor, ou, Ai, sua magestade!
19 With the burial of an ass shall he be buried, dragged about and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
Em sepultura de jumento será sepultado, arrastando-o e lançando-o para bem longe, fora das portas de Jerusalém.
20 Ascend the Lebanon, and cry aloud; and let thy voice resound in Bashan; and cry aloud from 'Aharim; for crushed are all thy lovers.
Sobe ao líbano, e clama, e levanta a tua voz em Basan, e clama pelas passagens, que já estão quebrantados os teus namorados.
21 I spoke unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy very youth, that thou didst not hearken to my voice.
Falei contigo na tua posteridade, porém tu disseste: Não ouvirei. Este é o teu caminho, desde a tua mocidade, que nunca deste ouvidos à minha voz.
22 The wind shall scatter abroad all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded because of all thy wickedness.
O vento apascentará a todos os teus pastores, e os teus namorados irão para o cativeiro: certamente então te confundirás, e te envergonharás, por causa de toda a tua maldade.
23 O inhabitress of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how full of grace wilt thou be! when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
Ó tu, que habitas no líbano e fazes o teu ninho nos cedros, quão lastimada serás quando te vierem as dores e os ais como da que está de parto!
24 As I live, saith the Lord, though Conyahu the son of Jehoyakim the king of Judah were a signet upon my right hand, yet for a surety would I thence pluck thee;
Vivo eu, diz o Senhor, que ainda que Conias, filho de Joaquim, rei de Judá, fosse o anel do selo na minha mão direita, que dali te arrancaria.
25 And I will give thee into the hand of those that seek thy life, and into the hand of those of whom thou art afraid, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
E te entregarei na mão dos que buscam a tua vida, e na mão daqueles diante de quem tu temes, a saber, na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, e na mão dos caldeus.
26 And I will hurl thee out, and thy mother that hath born thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
E lançar-te-ei, a ti e à tua mãe que te pariu, a uma terra estranha, em que não nasceste, e ali morrereis.
27 But to the land whitherward they direct their soul to return, thither shall they not return.
E à terra, para a qual eles levantam a sua alma, para tornarem a ela, a ela não tornarão.
28 Is this man Conyahu a despised broken image? or a vessel without value? wherefore are they hurled out, he and his seed, and are cast forth into a land which they know not?
É pois porventura este homem Conias um vil ídolo quebrantado? ou um vaso de que ninguém se agrada? por que razão foram arremessados fora, ele e a sua geração, e arrojados para uma terra que não conhecem?
29 O land, land, land! hear the word of the Lord.
Ó terra, terra, terra! ouve a palavra do Senhor.
30 Thus hath said the Lord, Write ye down this man as childless, as a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no man of his seed shall succeed to sit upon the throne of David, and to rule any more in Judah.
Assim diz o Senhor: Escrevei que este homem está roubado de filhos, homem que não prosperará nos seus dias; porque não prosperará algum da sua geração, que se assentar no trono de David, e que reinar mais em Judá.
